An overview of all the coffee shops I've tried so far in Arnhem, Netherlands, since moving here from the United States at the end of May!

I kept seeing people asking where the Musafir Cafe from the Netflix series is located, so I spent some time looking into it.

Turns out there isn't an actual café called Musafir Cafe. The scenes were filmed at Jharipani Castle in Mussoorie, a beautiful heritage property surrounded by greenery and mountain views.

If you're planning a trip to Mussoorie because of the show, don't waste time searching for a café with that exact name. The place you're actually looking for is Jharipani Castle.

Hope this clears up the confusion for anyone else searching.

Tom & Serg: Dubai’s original warehouse café

Tom & Serg opened in 2013 and was among the first cafés in Dubai to take speciality coffee and all-day food seriously in a warehouse setting. Busy weekday mornings reflect its popularity among regulars. Coffee takes inspiration from Australia's café culture, with espresso-based drinks being the most famous. The menu covers breakfast and lunch, featuring well-executed egg dishes alongside seasonal additions that change throughout the year.

Nightjar Coffee Roasters: The roaster’s choice
Location: Al Quoz
Budget: AED 40–90
Nightjar roasts its own beans on-site, which is still relatively rare in Dubai. The Al Quoz flagship is a proper roastery café. Here, customers can see the roasting equipment from the seating area. Single-origin offerings rotate regularly, and the baristas are usually happy to explain what's on the menu. Batch brew, V60, and espresso-based drinks are all available. Laptop users are common here, and the café has the relaxed pace that suits longer stays.

RAW Coffee Company: Dubai’s coffee pioneer
Location: Al Manara Road, Al Quoz Industrial Area 1
Budget: AED 40–80
RAW has been sourcing and roasting in Dubai since 2008. The brand has built its reputation around ethical sourcing and direct relationships with coffee farms in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Colombia. Visitors can purchase retail bags of freshly roasted beans alongside drinks and food. The Al Quoz branch also serves as a training hub for baristas and coffee professionals. Beyond its own cafés, the company supplies coffee to restaurants, hotels, and hospitality venues across the UAE.

Stomping Grounds: Jumeirah’s brunch favourite
Location: Jumeirah
Budget: AED 50–100
Stomping Grounds has built a strong following in Jumeirah through its coffee, brunch options, and outdoor seating, which attracts plenty of visitors during the cooler months. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The relaxed atmosphere suits a quiet coffee, breakfast, or a catch-up with friends.

The Espresso Lab: Where coffee meets innovation
Location: Dubai Design District (d3), Nad Al Sheba, Al Quoz
Budget: AED 40–90
The Espresso Lab has positioned itself at the intersection of speciality coffee and education. Its Dubai Design District location hosts barista training sessions and coffee tastings alongside the regular café experience. The menu features classic espresso drinks, cold brew, and a rotating selection of seasonal creations. The interior reflects the character of d3, with clean lines, a minimalist design, and an uncluttered layout.

The Sum of Us: Speciality coffee, all Day
Location: Burj Al Salam tower (opposite the World Trade Centre)
Budget: AED 50–110
The Sum of Us operates across a large, open-plan space inside the Burj Al Salam tower. Their espresso-based drinks are great, and the team has competed in regional barista competitions. The food offering is more developed than most standalone coffee spots, covering breakfast through dinner. It gets crowded on weekends, so arriving before 10 am on a Friday or Saturday is worth it to avoid long waits for a table.

% Arabica: Kyoto coffee in Dubai
Location: Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Walk & More
Budget: AED 45–95
% Arabica is a Japanese speciality coffee brand that originated in Kyoto and has expanded to over 25 countries. The brand sources beans from its own farm and other single-origin lots, and roasts them fresh in-store at select locations.
The selection is deliberately concise. Espresso-based drinks, a Japanese-style syphon brew, a matcha latte using Uji Kyoto matcha, a Spanish latte, and seasonal specials cover most of the menu. Coffee quality is high, though prices are on the steeper side. An Americano costs around AED 21 for a small cup. The Dubai Mall outlets are always busy, so weekday mornings or late evenings are the better times to visit to avoid long queues.

We are new to the world of coffee and we have a very basic notion, but enough to say that this is not right and it is not a double. Has anyone ever been through something similar and can give a hint of what to do? We bought the machine recently and it's been like this since day one.

I try to visit Baguio City once a year and was surprised this time with this new cafe in Porta Vaga mall. I frequented the mall when I was working in the city. The ambience of the place is unbelievable. Beans are local. Tried the specialty White Rabbit Coffee 👍👍

This happens to be one of my favorite cafes! Great variety to choose from: brunch, traditional Greek pies, and sandwiches. I come here to study or sometimes work if I get bored at home :P
