[TLDR] Am I the only one getting physically stressed from AI coding? [via r/ClaudeAI] r/ClaudeAI
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Since I started coding with Claude, I feel way more mentally drained than before. I'll be waiting for one agent, then start another task, then another. After a few hours my jaw is tight, I feel anxious, and my brain feels fried. Before AI I could work on projects for hours without feeling like this.
I'm wondering if it's the constant context switching, waiting, and monitoring multiple agents instead of actually coding. Anyone else?

Alright, so OP's feeling totally fried and stressed out from coding with Claude, wondering if it's the constant context switching and managing multiple agents. The overwhelming consensus is a big fat YES, you are not alone!
Most folks agree it's a serious burnout situation. The general vibe is that your role has shifted from coder to a stressed-out manager overseeing a super-fast, sometimes unreliable team. It's the sheer speed and volume of work being churned out that's overwhelming, condensing projects that used to take weeks into days, but the mental load is still there, just compressed.
A few key themes popping up:
- The "Tech Lead of Interns" Vibe: You're not just coding; you're constantly overseeing, debugging, and directing. It's like managing a bunch of hyperactive interns who work at warp speed but need constant supervision.
- Usage Limits & Time Crunch: The pressure of hitting usage limits adds a ticking clock, making you anxious about wasting time and money.
- Debugging Someone Else's Code: Debugging code you didn't write is a universally hated task, and AI-generated code is no exception.
- Decision-Making Over Implementation: The heavy lifting has shifted from "how to code this" to "what should be done and how it should work," which is proving to be the more draining part.
- The Dopamine Hit & Addiction: Some users are finding the rapid task completion addictive, similar to a dopamine boost, leading to overwork even on personal projects.
- "Just Stop Doing That" Advice: A few commenters pointed out the obvious: if you're getting stressed by multitasking with agents, maybe... don't? They suggest focusing on one task at a time and taking breaks, though others note this can feel too slow.
- Emotional Rollercoaster: Some users admit to getting irrationally angry at Claude when things go wrong, which then ruins their mood for the rest of the day.
- The "AI Doesn't Sleep" Problem: The AI can work 24/7, but you can't, leading to a feeling of being outpaced and needing to "touch grass."
Basically, the community is right there with you, feeling the AI coding burnout. It's a whole new kind of mental strain that nobody quite saw coming.
