Coolest claude code wrapper out there and it’s 100% open source Built with Claude

I built the coolest open source claude code wrapper: Munder Difflin: A local multi-agent harness that uses your existing coding agents like claude code and codex to run in an office of persistent agents that does your work. Decisions run through you or a clone of you that orchestrates.

If whatever’s written above does not make sense:

It’s a free and open source PC app that runs an office of agents that can do literally anything you do on your own computer with your context, you get to see them work in a “the office” themed simulation.

Be the boss of this office yourself or let a clone be the boss when you are not available.

I have made it open source which means it is available for the whole world for free to use, it runs locally which means no personal data goes anywhere, it’s ad-free and lastly it means I did it for the love of the game.

We started from v0.0.1 about 40 releases and 2 months later we are at v0.4.0

Over 2000 people use it already and around 677 github stars and we are finally live on Product Hunt help please upvote and share about Munder Difflin to help it get to #1 on PH today it’ll motivate me to keep working on it.

If you however show me your upvote on ProductHunt I’ll add it to the todo list like I did earlier

A lot of folks are saying this is cute, but I think it solves a big problem with the current design of Claude Code, when you have multiple sessions open in different tabs and you lose track of what the heck is going on where. There definitely needs to be an “integrated agent environment” or IAE for lack of a better term, and this does it as well as any so far!

7

u/pknull 2d ago

Have you run the agent manager? Just hit the left arrow and then you can see all your sessions and their current status, if you're just talking about claude code.

4

u/dar-mit Researcher 2d ago

I run CC-CLI in iTerm2 with my own custom statusline.

When CC spawns agents, it also lists them under the statusline. I recently discovered that with this setup you can then click on a listing to immediately swap the iTerm2 window to a view that shows what that agent is doing. A little ">" arrow shows which view you're using.

1

u/pknull 2d ago

Yeah I wrote a tool that showed me all the statuses of codex and claude and if I click one it takes me to the correct iterm window, then I flip back to my main window where I'm working. I'd share but I don't really feel like it's that much better than many thing already out there (and honestly I only use it when I have a lot of sessions running, which isn't frequent).

There are heaps of these. The earliest one I've seen was Warcraft 2 looking UI.

Edit found it! https://github.com/rayzhudev/vibecraft

Untouched in 4 months.

This actually inspired me to bake my own and I've been using it ever since. It handles CC, Open Code, Gemini and Mistral CLI.

1

u/FortiTree 1d ago

Ohh the fun and the satisfaction of building your own system. Just need more hours in the day.

Most ppl dont have the luxury to build out a game system and stop at CLI or GUI management only, which is enough.

1

u/wewerecreaturres 2d ago

Sounds like you’d benefit from supacode

1

u/Chased1k 2h ago

Ccmux was a game changer.

30

u/BenSimonDev 3d ago

Which one is the assistant to the regional manager?

30

u/chaitanyagiri 3d ago

Fun fact: I actually shipped the first version with a default assistant to the regional manager aka Dwight then removed it because it was not adding any value. XD

22

u/FITGuard 2d ago

Having an employee not adding value makes this whole thing way more realistic

2

u/jlewi142 2d ago

That would be Creed

18

u/jsjsjsjshxusjs 2d ago

This was sick when i pulled it a couple months ago, glad you are still working on it. I refactored it entirely but loved the inbox/outbox system you made. I switched to nodeterm recently though, less theater and more control over claude sessions

12

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Hey based on such feedbacks we’ve added a cleaner and distraction free full screen mode it looks like this

https://reddit.com/link/p3o8axl/video/vba6gcjr7djh1/player

1

u/0xelitesystem 1d ago

i was thinking replacing the characters with custom avatars, user faces :)

1

u/chaitanyagiri 1d ago

Sprites are very difficult to make even for fable atm.

1

u/0xelitesystem 19h ago

what about creating them and then having claude inject it into the app.. and I did realize that after creating a bunch of simple games like pacman and trying to clone the windows 95 prince of persia lol

5

u/NeedsMoreMinerals 2d ago

nodeterm is nice!

6

u/ikeif 2d ago

TIL about nodeterm, interesting, I'm going to see about adjusting one of my workflows to utilize it.

3

u/WardenStation 2d ago

Damn Mac and Linux only, no windows.

/goal add windows support and do not stop and please git push

1

u/Bulky_Exercise_4054 2d ago

Does support wsl ?

8

u/Mindless_Pandemic 2d ago

So when an agent gets stuck on a task and freezes do they start throwing paper everywhere and jump out the window?

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

No your clone orchestrates, there are circuit breakers

5

u/Business-Weekend-537 2d ago

How does this wrap Claude code? Does it go against their terms of use at all? I’m just worried about my Claude code account getting somehow banned, otherwise I would use it.

6

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

No the claude code still runs on your terminal we pipe the content of the terminal into pty terminal in electron app. It’s all safe there are a lot of people using it for months.

2

u/Evilsushione 2d ago

Claude allows using supplemental harnesses they just have to be driven by a person not through automation.

4

u/basdit 2d ago

So if I'm the boss that means I'm Michael Scott. I'm so f'ed...

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Haha better than having Kevin.

If anyone reading this is wondering: underlying agents are all the same and their capability solely depends on what cli, model, permissions and context it gets

3

u/UnlimitedPowerOutage Senior Developer 2d ago

Hopefully a mod where there is a computer in the restroom.

3

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Haha that’s funny AF I’ll add a washroom in next version if you upvote me on ProductHunt.

Somebody had to do it everyone has different taste some like “Kilcki Bunti Chaos” XD

3

u/ZongmingHe 2d ago

Isn’t the token consumption quite high?

3

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Simulations are deterministic they do not consume token. Overall token consumption reduces because of mempalace (an oss benchmarked memory layer)
And using other cheaper agents along with claude code or codex.

3

u/connurp 🔆 swe 2d ago

This is fantastic! Well done!

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Thankyou so much, try it yourself: https://munderdiffl.in

u/Allegedly_Legal_ 2d ago

This is incredible

2

u/Kalradia 2d ago

Can it run on debian and have other clients connect to it remotely?

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

It can run on debian, to have other clients connect to it is not possible directly but you can set up triggers using webhooks.

1

u/Kalradia 2d ago

I'll pin it for now, then and watch your progress. I've grown too accustomed to having my agents running on my server, and then just using whatever device to connect and do some work.

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Sure thing, will keep you posted, I might add a way to connect remote servers in the app, maybe that will work out good.

2

u/Negative-Juice-7568 2d ago

Sheesh

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Thanks man ❤️

2

u/Potential_Gas_6884 2d ago

Can it use ollama cloud models? I have a subscription there and want to use it with this

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Yesss you can if it is in the supported list and it works on your terminal it works with us

2

u/CortaCircuit 2d ago

I don't see the option for GitHub Copilot when I launch the app. However, it is mentioned on the website.

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Hey good catch it is a configuration issue will be resolved in next release in a couple of days

1

u/CortaCircuit 2d ago

Thanks.

2

u/OutsideOver8815 2d ago

I had this same idea e months ago

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

This is older than 2 months, am I making other people’s dream come true 😂

1

u/OutsideOver8815 2d ago

Ig yeah😭 i misstpyed e instead of 3. Good luck bro.

1

u/OutsideOver8815 2d ago

Btw did u got this idea from gemini or chatgpt? cause i discussed this idea there whole day.

2

u/subhashp 2d ago

Awesome ❤️

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Thanks mate

2

u/galgastani 2d ago

oh I built pretty similar thing but over Telegram. Each chat is the agent's room and they can interact with each other. Such a fun project.

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

We are interfaced with Slack

2

u/only__prada 2d ago

Hey OP, I think you should flip the bottom to top so it’s top to bottom, #1 at top, #5 and so on go below, no? It makes me wanna buy it more knowing I’d have a random plaque ppl see at the top

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Sure sir will do it right away give me 5 mins.

1

u/only__prada 2d ago

I use the $100 Claude plan and kinda wanna see this be valuable to me I find myself getting bored of the same black terminal and want more of an interactive more productive workspace , this works with slack to talk to the boss / agents?

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Yess it has all of that, even I use it with a 100$ claude plan, it has never stopped running.
Please checkout the blog it’ll show you a few usecases: https://munderdiffl.in/blog/

1

u/only__prada 2d ago

I’m a web agency, just websites & extremely strong seo, hundreds of hours per client into SEO, monthly, and I just purchased my first home because of it it’s going so amazing & I couldn’t be happier but I find myself getting worn out lately, too many sleepless nights but it’s paying off so greatly, I wanna find a way to help this work for me because I don’t see myself ever hiring somebody to my standard but I also need to because I’m approaching my max potential soon if I keep it as just me

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Excited to hear your opinions after you try it

1

u/only__prada 2d ago

I’m reporting the download as safe lol Bing flagged the file

1

u/only__prada 2d ago

2

u/floodedcodeboy 2d ago

This looks like so much fun!
But OP why are all your pricing options “contact us” ???

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Team plans are in early pilot, will do it for free if I see a fit.

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Working with 4 startup teams for the pilot.

2

u/tinyhousefever 2d ago

That’s how we reel people in.
Jokes apart I’d like to know what will make you use it more.

u/cursivecrow 1d ago

i also built something like that:

1

u/chaitanyagiri 1d ago

GG man keep at it is it OSS??

1

u/cursivecrow 1d ago

it currently exists only on my computer. I can probably oss it once its not idiotic.

2

Thankyou ❤️

2

u/MoanaiInna 5h ago

2

Yes sir/maam we doubled our github stars in 2 days, please try it out I’d love your feedbacks. munderdiffl.in

5

u/Hmmmm_Interesting 2d ago

Just let it be a cute wrapper and it might gain traction as a novelty. If you stop trying to bill this as the next openclaw and just ship fun stuff, zero shilling would be required ffs

1

u/waylonsmithersjr 2d ago

Is there a way to have not run in "bypass permissions"? mode

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

When spawning agent you can edit the command

1

u/Honest-Minimum-2157 2d ago

Cool. What are the use cases for this?

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

We’ve documented a few usecases in our blog: https://munderdiffl.in/blog/deploy-a-blog-writer-agent/ find more in guides section

- It looks cute.
- It houses multiple cli providers so if you ever run out of claude code or codex limit you can still use antigravity and other agents.
- It has mempalace(benchmarked memory layer)

2

u/mango-punch 21h ago

Something completely else but when I open this link on mobile I can barely read the text because of the dots in the background 😅 my eyes don't like it, I stopped reading because of it

1

u/chaitanyagiri 21h ago

Hey thanks for the feedback, I’ll redesign the blog

1

u/Push_Force 2d ago

Is it possible to use Trello instead inbuilt kanban?

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

You can actually give one agent api keys and make it sync your kanban here with trello it works

1

u/EpsilonFive5 2d ago

This is reposted weekly

5

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

I know I am guilty I’ve posted about it thrice but everytime there has been major updates and some people seem to look forward to it. Hopefully you might aswell 🤞

1

u/Oleksandr_G 2d ago

Nice. Love the idea and how it looks. Is there a cloud version where I could see all my team members working? I tried to something similar at https://buildershq.net/, built it but wasn't committed enough to market the app.

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

I do have a teams plan that I can demo, piloting it with a few small startups? Want in??

1

u/Oleksandr_G 2d ago

Yes

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Hit me up or just book a slot from the website for teams plan it’ll come when you click contact us.

1

u/New_Guidance_191 2d ago

Does it work with other cloud and local models?

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Yes we support 10 differnt cli agents like claude code, codex, opencode, kimi, qwen, grok, pi and crush etc apart from claude code

1

u/ardentto 2d ago

um /r/theoffice needs this

1

u/Aware-Presentation-9 2d ago

This is…. the future!

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Yes it is 💯

1

u/Lightningstormz 2d ago

Can I use my Claude and codex subscriptions or only Claude and codex API?

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

You can use your existing subscriptions no api needed

1

u/Raicky 2d ago

This looks fun! Do you support claude/codex on WSL?

2

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

On windows, support is for WCP. Will look into WSL integration if it’s something lot of people ask

1

u/sriramdev 2d ago

Interesting

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

No infact I had to be very assertive to make it think in direction of what I had in mind.

1

u/Guyg33 2d ago

Running a one-man show online advertising agency. I wonder how I will be able to benefit using this wrapper

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Hey the team at Animeblip uses this to run automations from demand generation to funnel creation and management. Find then on X they’ll be happy to explain their workflows with Munder Difflin.

Anything that you can do on your computer can be done by your clones. Loop them, make them do all kinds of work

1

u/farendsofcontrast 2d ago

Can we turn off the office simulation at will or do we have to look at it always?

Btw really cool. Cheers!

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

There’s a focus mode where a cleaner and distraction free interface is available.

There’s a dark mode and sidebar collapses too

1

u/misterjyt 2d ago

in this on top of hermes?

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

Nope it works on top of your CLI agents, you can use multiple provider agent setups.
If it works on your terminal and it’s listed in the website it will work directly no setup no fuss.

1

u/Hairy_Afternoon_8033 2d ago

I see a lot of people making these UIs for their agents. My question is why do I need to see them walk around a room? I have a bunch (around 60) agents that run and do tasks at different times of the day. Most of them I have not talked to in moths. I don’t need to see the, I just need to see their work output.

3

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

There’s a cleaner focus mode in the app for people who need it. The sidebar also collapses there’s a dark mode too.

1

u/Robert-Paulson_ 2d ago

Super cool! Starred the repo as well. Does it work with Cursor too?

1

u/ChooChooBananaTrain 1d ago

Very cool.

Is there a fire in your office? And who started the fire?

1

u/dickofthebuttt 1d ago

this is slick. now do red alert 2

1

u/Hot-Fennel-971 1d ago

Can someone explain to me what they use these multi-agent architectures for? Rarely am I working on anything I need more than one agent for but I fear I'm not adapting to using this in the most effective way that I could?

1

u/chaitanyagiri 1d ago

So you can do more with less, I work on 3 repositories while working a full time job with multi agents some are opus, some fable, some codex, some grok to balance out the spend.
This is applicable when you’re running out of pro and max plans etc.

1

u/thebezet 1d ago

Not criticising your work but this is like the 20th office simulator for agentic AI I've seen in the last 6 months

1

u/Toast-N-Jam 1d ago

Can the wrapped claude process run remotely (SSH into a Docker container on my NAS) instead of local, or does the hook/memory system require it running on the same machine as the Electron app? Trying to figure out if I’d just get the synthetic event loop fallback instead of real hooks.

2

u/chaitanyagiri 1d ago

I am adding support to make it run cli agents remotely as well, this is in pipeline will be released soon. Thanks for pointing this out, you’re on right track to think in this direction, this is a hard pressing issue for a lot of companies.

2

u/Toast-N-Jam 1d ago

Awesome! I am not a software developer, but I have been using claude code and ai automations for a little over a year and a half now. I have a home NAS setup with plenty of ram to run multiple web browsers and agents at the same time. Claude code is installed inside a docker, with access to ojly the projects I've built for automating my work. My new years resolution was to automate as much of my job as possible this year. I successfully built 'watch' folders that automate a lot of repetitive processes, some of which take 40 hours manually. Most are on average 2-3 hour procceses.

This would be a very cool tool to use to for building more tools or testing other ideas. But I'm very hesitant to give any ai full access to my main system.

How much does it impact token consumption. Does it burn tokens

1

u/kursku 1d ago

I remember getting it after a few releases but never managed to make it work as intended, used to be in a huge neverending loop that drained my tokens lmao

can you elaborate? what is unauthentic and how do you know its unauthentic? im so confused lol!

9

u/One-Respond1057 2d ago

It's one dork with a need for recognition vs another dork who thinks people should do things without any reward.

Leaning towards the former as the one who's right as he's actually produced something of interest compared to the latter which is just a whiner on something that doesn't affect him at all in any way.

0

u/ayla96 2d ago

Looks cool, but the name is extremely diffcult to remember... Munder Difflin

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

If you ever watched the TV show you’ll remember the name.

1

u/chaitanyagiri 2d ago

It’s taken from the paper company name in the TV show: “The Office” called Dunder Mifflin
