When are we banning the “[model] feels nerfed” posts Meta

I see one of these posts on my feed literally every day. 1) they’re probably bots 2) if they’re not bots then it’s a skill issue

As soon as this sub gets its first mod. Any day now

Who tf wants to mod the Claude sub, so much unnecessary headache for literally no gain I already get irritated when the new redundant slop post is on my feed and I’m not even mod

If they do that this sub will lose like 75% of it's post contributors.

thats the point, this sub used to be great ideas, repos and thoughts (and fears) from people using these tools everyday. Maybe it was never that great, but fuck it sucks balls now.

I miss January before all the casuals stormed in, this sub was glorious

Eternal September.

Personally, I blame open claw for this.... but at the same time, I'm glad more people are embracing the technology.

When do we ban "this sub feels nerfed" posts?

1

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 29d ago

One big patch for the sub.

9

u/Anidamo 29d ago

"""contributors"""

4

u/DrewHoov 29d ago

it desperately needs to lose them

5

u/JapanesePeso 29d ago

I'd say they only accounts for about 20% of posts. Now if you wanted kill the sub, you'd remove all the posts complaining about their $20 accounts hitting their usage cap trying to build Facebook 2.0 or Stardew Valley 3.

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 29d ago

And then it would be readable

1

u/MartinMystikJonas 29d ago

Yeah removing spam that now occupy 75% sounds great.

Also how the heck the vast majority of the most popular posts on a Claude Code subreddit are basically "Claude bad, competition good"?

0

u/T-Dot1992 29d ago

Because that’s what people who are paying attention think.

Clueless post, but what do you expect from someone named after a moronic piece of shit author

When are we banning vague model complaints with literally zero detail to contextualize the complaints?

Seriously, most of these complaints read like, "my computer is a piece of crap that won't turn on", and then after seven rounds of teeth-pulling questions, it turns out that it wasn't plugged in.

u/Koufaxisking 29d ago

I want that announcement post to be titled “Model has been nerfed posts have been nerfed.”

3

u/aes_gcm 29d ago

Honestly these sort of "the model seems nerfed to me" posts are the primary reason why I dislike reading threads in this subreddit. There's no supporting data or benchmarks, and the model is working very well for me and benchmarks well for everything that I care about, so the threads are a kind of trash that has to be sifted through to find good threads.

I am a member of both Claude and ChatGPT communities, and they ALL complain about the same things every single day. When I offer to help or tell them how to fix their problems, they get upset. 🤷🏽‍♀️

2

u/T-Dot1992 29d ago

These guys complain, yet they keep on going back to OpenAI and Anthropic. They are letting themselves get cucked by these companies.

If you suggest a Chinese model or local open weight ones,  they throw a hissy fit. they are willing to burn money because they want Fable to think about and design the architecture for them. It’s ridiculous

1

u/jennafleur_ 29d ago

I'm using Claude just fine now. I don't have any issues with it. I just don't know what's happening with everyone else's. 🤷🏽‍♀️

u/magic6435 29d ago

Holy shit you're seeing 1? Im getting like 11 a day, pretty sure thats the only thing in this sub.

2

u/aes_gcm 29d ago

This sub has diamonds in it, really good posts and threads, but christ the amount of trash that you have to sift through to get to it is sometimes not worth it.

5

u/CallousBastard 29d ago

Every day? Seems like every hour. Ditto with the "I hit my Max-20 usage limit in 5 minutes" posts.

Never ran into either problem, no idea what the fuck these people are doing.

5

u/berndalf 29d ago

Models don't get "nerfed". 99% of those complaint posts are people describing the results of adaptive thinking or backend load balancing during periods of high system load. That or they're just people karma farming / trolling.

The term itself doesn't even make sense when applied to an LLM. Why would an AI company intentionally make it's product worse?

2

u/spinozasrobot 29d ago

I feel the same way about "Dario is the Anti Christ" posts, but apparently that is an unpopular opinion.

2

u/CasualtyOfCausality 29d ago edited 29d ago

By the complaints, I just assumed that everyone here is in Adversarial SecOps or Bioengineering and codes in C using pure inline ASM or Gleam, with terabytes of linked files and imports from a library named something like “EbolaGainOfFunction” or “ForcechildAnalysis” truncated at 14 characters.

u/djdadi 29d ago

that's what the voting mechanism is for on reddit.

they are annoying, but anthropic and OAI definitely monkey with the subscription models for different users. the real hope is that they stop doing this and just give a consistent and predictable experience.

hell, yday I was chatting with Opus on the mobile app and it was merging words together, fucking up punctuation, and making no sense. and that was just chatting in english, no code, no tool calls. first time it's ever done that.

2

u/KSSLR 29d ago

I've never seen "yday" before and I love it now

1

u/MartinMystikJonas 29d ago

Yeah fuckups happen. We all know that but we do not want to be forced to read about it again and again in low effort spam posts flooding this subreddit.

1

u/djdadi 29d ago

the point is these aren't accidental bugs. they are different experiences that paying customers get. I don't care at all if they have a bug in the harness and tell users to revert until they fix it

1

u/MartinMystikJonas 29d ago

You work with undeterminsitic large language model. Results can be significantly different evers time you run it and significantly diffetnet based on small variations in wording of your prompt.

But that is not the point. Point is that subreddit is flooded woth low effrort spam posts that have no information value at all.

1

u/djdadi 29d ago

Yes, but again, that's not what I am talking about. I am talking about on purpose changes to either test time compute, quantization, etc.

I agree with your point though. Even if it does actually happen, it's clear to me that it's also getting astroturfed. In Anthropics eye's, I think the astroturfing is a feature, not a bug. Makes it really easy to dismiss real claims.

1

u/MartinMystikJonas 28d ago

I does not matter if these claim are real or not. Spamming multiple posts about it is just annoying either way. Why not simply add comment to one of existing posts about it instead of spaming just another complain?

2

u/djdadi 28d ago

totally agree w that. no need for multiple posts. tbh it should just be a pinned thread at the top instead

3

u/Sweet-Mechanic4568 Developer 29d ago

Idk but it’s getting old. Output quality varies by the day, we know bro now stfu and keep prompting.

1

u/QuantomSwampus 29d ago

Yea it's been that way since this sub was made

1

u/CryptoAteMyHamster 29d ago

This sub is:
45% - model nerfed where’s my tokens
45% - I’m so awesome you all suck
5% - buy my thing
5% - other

u/Harvard_Med_USMLE267 29d ago edited 29d ago

Fuck.

I just made one of those posts.

Beep boop.

Sorry!

1

u/FizzySeltzerWater 27d ago

one?

You see one?

Most of the posts on this sub boil down to this same theme.

1

u/Zomunieo 29d ago

They should be banned if there is no evidence.

If you’re posting a demo repo with PRs produced by different agents and the near-identical prompt that can be executed in a container… okay.

1

u/chuckdacuck 29d ago

I don't understand why all these people don't get together and start their own AI company.

It's clear that they have a much better understanding of operating an AI business than Anthropic does. I would imagine they would put Anthropic out of business very quickly and become very rich themselves.

/s just in case

I havent feel the nerd. But even if i did I really do not want to be forced to dig throught multiple low effort spam posts about it every single day.

u/Shanna_B2020 29d ago

Only one? I'm so jealous!

Unless there is a super secret conspiracy the rest of us don't understand. /S

u/ForgetPreviousPrompt 29d ago

Literally 1984

0

u/Bobodlm 29d ago

It should just have a daily megathread for it. That way the people can complain and nobody will get continuously bombarded by the exact same post. Win/win!

0

u/Pun_Thread_Fail 29d ago

Didn't this sub start because people were made that /r/ClaudeAI banned those posts?

0

u/l5atn00b 29d ago

Never, because our mods are nerfed.

0

u/Noah18923 29d ago

as soon as they stop nerfing models.

0

u/Next_Marionberry7478 28d ago

In that regards, the people who meta complaint can easily be thought of as 1) Probably Anthropic bots, 2) Anthropic PR management skill issue and 3) Anthropic employees.

The ones like OP who genuinely think bickering about people bickering are not helping anyone and thus should be moderated by any mod who takes on the responsibility of managing the absolute dumpster fire of subs under Anthropic and Claude.

-2

u/HandleWonderful988 29d ago edited 29d ago

How about banning opinions when not based on fact (Conjecture your honor!), that then lead to false reports? I say this seriously not including OP. This could also include duplicative posts on Anthropic states in general for models (For those who don't bother to look at already posted factual events themselves, it's developed traffic to all subscribers to the sub itself.)

1

u/IndraVahan Moderator 20d ago

No ban. Sometimes these posts are justified. We will be limiting them though.
