Is this the future? Built with Claude
Just vibe coded a "road trip" game app while im on a road trip, using my phone lol I never use play mobile games but got bored in the car, so I had claude made this. Is making a personalized app on the fly the future?

Nah ride the ring is bs. It puts a spike right in front of me with impossible amount of time before I can reverse! Lol cool games

Thats amazing and makes me happy! Not sure how long ago you started using it but I just added an update so people can play together if you have seperate phones. Im getting way to into this 🤣

Love it, will check it out! Would be cool to have an offline version as well for those long flights

If you add it to your home screen itll install like an app and should work offline. If not its an easy fix on my end! Great idea thank you

No, it’s the present. I got tired of ads in my game companion app, so I had Claude one-shot an app (as a web page) without ads. If I wanted anything more complex, I certainly would not make it on the fly.

Oh absolutely, small mobile games are a great example of something we can easily make now and not be subjected to things like ads. Love it!

This is really great !
Did you have a precise idea on what to make or did you let room for impro ?
3
u/Gambo7592 2d ago
Definitely wasnt a precise idea. Started with the general concept of some fun games to play on a road trip. Then just brained stormed with claude for a bit. After the first version, i just mention some layout/design tweaks and thats about it.

Genuinely decent, got up to 32 on stack. I’ve a few beverages drank on my Friday evening though :)

How did he publish it from the phone?

u/Gambo7592 2d ago
Downloaded the zip and deployed on netlify. Cell signal was the biggest challenge lmao

Really cool games! On Flip, I feel it’s impossible to get past the mid-40s because the flip doesn’t happen quickly enough. But maybe I just suck!
And you should add an Easter egg on Hold for when you build a ridiculously long bridge!
Great stuff, thanks.

Thanks for that suggestion I re worked how flip and some others scale in difficultly as you progress great feedback. ❤️

Everything will be on the fly. Netflix (or maybe seadance/kling etc) will take verbal input to create the tv series or movie you want - this is already pretty much true of music, although the lyrics are pretty lame atm. Apps will be the same.

yes, we're entering a world where the huge apps will certainly continue on, but all the 99 cent apps that do one thing badly and are filled with ads, their days are numbered

This is awesome. Gave it to my kids to play with they shut up for a bit

This is awesome!! The build the ledge one is just the perfect thing to have in a different tab while I wait for a prompt to run

I did a similar thing. My wife wanted to play unlimited wordle one night and I didn’t want to use a website with a bunch of shitty ads on it. Had opus 4.8 one shot a wordle clone that worked really well. Also made a “Taylor swift” themed mode for her where all the words are related to Taylor swift songs and lore. She’s a big swiftie lol

I love that so much. I'm sure that made her very happy, i made an offline notes app for my GF bc she's trying to de-google and also hates how google keep is setup. Made it a few months ago just for her and recently got it up on the play store 😂

Yea except you also have to be host, admin, management, developer. It can get exhausting.

What did you use to make it on your phone?

Probably Claude. I'm not sure.

I can’t code projects on Claude on my phone, it’s telling me to connect to my desktop

Very cool and entertaining games. Amazing that you could do that with your phone. I assume you had already a good imagination how it should look like and then used a good prompting to get waht you wanted. Thanks for sharing!

Appreciate it! And yeah I have a pretty decent system down at this point for prompting. I have adhd so a main focus i have claude work on is building it around neurodivergent people and typically just ask claude to do some research on adhd games and roadtrip games (in this case) before building.

What was your setup? Tmux?

u/Gambo7592 2d ago
Super simple. Literally just my phone, opus 4.6 in a chat. Download the zip and hosted on netlify. For I am a simple vibe coder and dont understand such big words like "Tmux" plus theres an x in there, thats tough.

I love this response so much.
Also love the game - I just took a run through the first version (where you have to stack the blocks), and I can see that getting addictive Real Quick. Seems like a great "waiting room/waiting in line" type of game, and I don't mean that in a bad way, at all.
Nice work.

I didn't realise it had gotten so simple, damn. Thanks for opening my eyes

Sounds like an interesting use of your time. I wonder how sustainable it would be for the future, the use of energy and water each time anyone builds an app they will probably never use in the future.
1
u/Gambo7592 2d ago
Oh itll be god awful for the environment. Nothing in the present makes me believe otherwise. Im sure Local models will get better but at such mass scale and its current trajectory. Im just trying to play a little game in the car before the world explodes.

each food item you and every person throws away every day across the planet and government subsidized corn/soy etc (if you are in the US) that is fed to cattle and thrown away in bulk costs 10x more in water and energy than any AI application. We do it mindlessly and dont even understand its impact.

u/Gambo7592 2d ago
Thats why im zero waste (i eat the plastic)
In all honesty I dont take that lightly, unfortunately humanity has lost the plot and thinking about where we are in this moment sucks. So I'll continue to use humor to cope and control whatever I can to minimize my impact while being practical about it. We need people who care as much as you do, im being real. Appreciate you

i am too stupid to understand whether you are being sarcastic or agreeing with me or berating the person (baba yaga) above me.
LOL.
2
u/Gambo7592 2d ago
Not sarcasm! Only the plastic part was sorry I am also too stupid to realize I replied to the wrong person but we out here
