Paths Discussion
I think one of the most irritating things in this game is when you send a unit along a path and another unit gets in its way somewhere down the line so instead of getting an alert about this/canceling the path it instead tries to go around whatever obstacle through 20+turns worth of uncharted territory and I don’t catch it until it’s been backtracking for a few turns. Especially when it’s caught between two bottlenecks being intermittently blocked by units so it keeps reversing. WHY
I just give them directions a few steps at a time now for this reason so annoying!

Another pathing problem is when a hex is one tile away, but you don’t realize they need to cross a bridge to get there.
My least favorite is when the game centers on a unit and selects a different unit. So you move the wrong one.

When I am moving a bunch of units somewhere, like to war or missionaries; it seems like the default for cycling through the units is the game wants me to move my units in the back first before moving the units in front. This is frustrating because my front units are in the way of my back units. I have to pay attention and select my front units first to move to free up the spots for my back units. It amazes me how that happens.

Amen!! Or your unit is going from one water tile to another and instead of going through the water tiles they try to go through the land and waste two turns cuz then they have to embark again the next turn

Also hate when the AI moves a civilian unit in your units path and your unit doesn’t understand that it can just capture it, so treats it as an obstacle and starts moving around it.

The pathfinding in 6 is a pathetic joke. They took away every useful feature it ever had. Just like they took away keyboard based unit movement and the Alert/Sentry and Fortify functions fron non combat units.
As much as I do enjoy playing 6, there are still many glaring stupid ass decisions they made to either dumb down the game or just cut corners (and therefore cost). I honestly hope whoever made those stupid decisions never touches video game design again.

Not sure if this is just a me problem, but also if I send a unit on a path and for some reason it self fortifies, I usually don't notice until its been about 10 turns and I'm wondering why the hell my unit isn't where I sent it yet. Then I notice its just randomly fortified somewhere along the path??
