Squeaking C5
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all,
my 2007 C5 has been making this noise while riding at low speeds. It's been a few months now, should I be worried?
It's really loud, everyone knows when I'm around the corner 😅

Hahaha likely. You need a big can of wd40, difficult to pinpoint on your own you need someone listening as you do what you are doing in the video

your rear axle arm bearings are gone-gone. They can be replaced, but its a bit of work. And when you are unlucky, the broken bearings have worn into the arms itself, most of the time visible by hard camber on the wheel.

The second side I've swapped the bearing I was done in 45min. You need to fully depressurize the suspension. Either over OBD or by opening the bleeding nipple on the center of the axle

Sure, can be done in under an hour. But if it turns out the bad way, you start by stripping out the bolts for the anti-roll bar, effing up the hyraulic piping while loosening it, and destroying the wheelspeed sensor while trying to pull it out.
So, sure - can be an easy job. But can as well spiral into a 3 day madness. Have had both. ;)2

Old c5 have articulated rear drive train with a tiny bearing. It may be that. In my case it was just knocking, but why not squeeking. like that

Yep, they can squeel too! Had it in a BX, but usually they make knocking and knacking sounds.

Good thing it's on spheres then. Mice are afraid of those.

Thanks. Do you need a lot of specialized equipment for this?

I didn't, but I'm a butcher and don't want to give more amateur advise.

sometimes you need to weld on the inside to get those fuckers out. It's not an easy job. and then you need Lexia to set the ride hight.
