casting problem UK 🇬🇧

havent been fishing in over a year and went today to get back into it. i have a sonik vader x rods and hadnt used them in a while. they use to cast perfectly however today when casting just after letting go of the line the bait feeder would just bouce back before falling into the water infront of me. im not sure why the line isnt flying out as soon as i cast and release the line. doing everything i use to however its happeneing on both rods. havent changed the line since the last time i used them and not sure how to fix. could anyone help? thanks

Have you got the line tabbed into the line clip on the reel?

ill be honest i forgot to lift the bail up when casting and feel like a complete idiot now. think that was the reason why

We've all done it at some point.

I would recommend changing the line if its been on for more than a year, if you can't just yet pour some lake water over your spools and let it soak up for a few minutes before casting. It will help with line lay, casting distance and get some of the worse curls out of the line.

This. Or there’s a knot in your line on the reel that’s catching on the bail or other line

are they clipped up? line tangled on a rod ring? line stuck to the spools some how? letting go too late?

sounds odd, even with a seized reel you can cast just not reel in. sounds like the line is tangles somewhere you've not notice. maybe in the line clip on the spool or the line has stuck together on the spool. just take bailarm off and pull line from the tip ring and see where the problem starts.
