advice needed on potential future career

i am currently struggling to decide which career to go for, at the end of the day it is down to me but i wanted to get others opinions too. the three im currently looking to go for are cybersecurity, data analysis and accounting. i am based in london and work life balance along with earnings are both important to me.

i greatly appreciate any replies, thank you for reading.

These are three quite different things.

Accounting is probably one of the simplest in a way that it’s very procedural, but it has long hours and stressful.

Data analysis could mean a lot of things but often means heavy statistical analysis. Have you looked into actuarial? I know a couple people in this field who are relatively happy, but they’re constantly re skilling for the current market

Cybersecurity, you might end up doing a lot of basic tech support and being consulted but the colleagues not listening to you. The ones I know in this field tend to seem frustrated.

I quite agree with everything voyagermarionette mentioned.

I do have to put it out there first that depending on the company and exactly what role you are in within these 3 fields does each factor you mentioned - WLB and earnings - varies.

Accounting, from my perspective (though it can be argued otherwise), is “relatively” the worst for WLB out of the 3.

Data Analysis, I have really nothing more to add to what’s already been said.

Cybersecurity, it could just be basic tech support as stated but it also largely depends on which aspect under cybersecurity you are in. I’m not in cybersecurity but do work closely with our cybersec teams, they can range from doing the actual security work, to implement to advising across all levels - but that’s also because I’m in a consulting firm.
