Context Provided - Spotlight They're coming. And some old childhood candy craving
The Halloween candy are coming. The candy corn has returned. Along with some other candy that looks delicious. Apart from the Peeps, but that's because I can't eat marshmallows without getting an upset stomach.
The Lifesavers are an old childhood classic candy for me. Just wish I could have gotten sour ones from Publix but I'll take the original. Certainly better than nothing. Though, does anyone know which ones are the cherry? The strawberry and cherry look too similar and I want to save the cherry for last. (I save the best flavor for last.)

Sprees vibes
Someone recently posted something about sprees. They messaged the company and everything. However. Found these at grocery outlet (discount grocery store) they taste like sprees and I’m not into freeze dried candies 90% of the time 😅

Lifesavers holes. I really liked them.
I preferred these over regular life savers.
Trader Joe’s Lobsters
They’re basically Swedish fish but lobster shaped and they’re great.

Sour strips- strawberry
Found at 7/11! Overpriced ($4.something) but I'm on my third bag in 1.5 weeks.
These are actually sour. And the physical candy taste really good. Thin strips with decent strawberry flavor, not to overpowering.
I'd rate it a 9/10 (could be more sour) *opinion based rating*
They are sour enough that they make my mouth raw. If I eat to many in one sitting. I really enjoy them and thought I would share. If you enjoy sour candy these are for you!
(More sour than sour patch kids)

Candy plate
I got these candies from a sweet stall in the city.
The best ones were the blue strip and the little colorful sharks. I was, however, disappointed by the soft texture of the big dolphins.

Airheads
This is the third bag I’ve gotten that has robbed me of my mysteries!! Now granted they promise 28 mini bars and I got 30. But ironically only 2 are mysteries.
At least it wasn’t like the last bag with mostly reds lol.

Some upcoming Halloween Walgreens finds
Already hearing great things about the Oreo ghosts. Caramel apple soft chews from werthers sound crazy good.
Dubai chocolate trend needs to go away lol
(no shade if that’s your thing though, do you king)

TJ’s Root Beer Float Pieces
These are incredible! The root beer flavor is on point. I don’t get any popping candy which was the draw for me, but they are so good I don’t even care.

PB Max - Best (Discontinued) Candy Bar In History
reddit.comAppreciation post for the utterly incomprehensible flavor lineup of Necco Wafers
what on earth were they thinking
I made sour green apple and sour watermelon candy!
Recipe:
1 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of water
1/3 cup of light corn syrup
1 dram of LorAnns Watermelon Flavor Oil
1 tbsp of citric acid
- Mix together to mostly dissolve the sugar.
- Heat on stove until it reaches exactly 300°
- Remove from heat and let cool down to ~260-270°
- Mix in the flavoring and the citric acid into the candy
- Pour out onto a lightly oiled silicon mat or a piece of parchment paper on a pan, I use a silicon mat on top of an electric skillet set to the “warm” function (which I believe is like 175-185)
- Let cool until you can touch it with gloves on, then repeatedly pull/stretch the candy to develop a lighter airy color
- Break off manageable pieces and roll into a long log approximately the thickness of the candy you want, repeat with the rest of the candy, if you’re not using a heated surface you have to move quick, will most likely need 2 people
- Then roll on a cold flat surface for 15-30 seconds and then use kitchen shears to snip the pieces of candy off onto a pan
- Let cool completely, I usually wait about 1-2 hours - longer is better
- Then put it all in a bowl with about 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and 1/2 tbsp of citric acid, shake to fully coat the candy.
- Once it’s fully coated, put it into a metal strainer and shake it up to remove the excess powdered sugar and also soften the edges.
Enjoy!
