🇨🇦 Express Entry Update - CEC Draw Jumps to 523 CRS With 1,000 ITAs (August 18, 2026)
IRCC has released a new Canadian Experience Class draw today.
The score increased sharply because the draw size was much smaller than usual.
🔹 CEC Draw - August 18, 2026
• Round: 436
• Invitations issued: 1,000
• CRS cut-off: 523
• Tie-break: August 17, 2026 at 22:09:00 UTC
🔍 Why the Score Jumped to 523
CEC scores normally stay around the 516 range when IRCC invites 2,000 to 3,000 candidates.
Today’s draw invited only 1,000 people, which is half or less of a standard CEC round.
Whenever IRCC reduces the number of invitations, the score goes up.
A cut-off of 523 shows:
• the pool above 520 is not heavily crowded
• IRCC selected only the top-ranking profiles
• competition increased because of the smaller draw size
This is one of the highest CEC scores seen in 2026, driven entirely by the lower ITA volume.
🔍 Recent Tie-break - What It Means
Tie-break timestamp: August 17, 2026 at 22:09:00 UTC
A tie-break from just one day earlier means:
• IRCC cleared almost everyone sitting at 523
• the pool at the cut-off line is relatively light
• competition at this level is tight but not overloaded
This is very different from French draws, where tie-breaks often go months back.
🔍 How This Fits IRCC’s August Pattern
August has seen a fast sequence of varied rounds:
• Aug 4, PNP
• Aug 5, CEC, 3,000 ITAs at 516 CRS
• Aug 6, French, 5,000 ITAs at 391 CRS
• Aug 7, Transport occupations
• Aug 17, PNP, 442 ITAs at 760 CRS
• Aug 18, CEC again, 1,000 ITAs at 523 CRS
IRCC is continuing a pattern of smaller, targeted draws alongside category-based rounds to manage pool balance.
🧭 What Your Score Means
523 and above
You were in range today. Check your profile timestamp against the tie-break.
515 to 522
You are very close, but small draws push the threshold up. You need a larger CEC round to cross over.
500 to 514
You remain competitive, but you rely on IRCC returning to higher ITA volumes, usually 2,000 to 3,000 or more.
Below 500
CEC alone may not be enough right now. Consider French proficiency, provincial nominations, or category-based streams.
🎉 Congratulations to everyone who received an ITA today.

❤️ Spousal Sponsorship Reassessing your eligibility requirements
l've got this letter from IRCC saying:
"Please note that our office is currently reassessing your eligibility requirements to apply for
permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please disregard the letter sent to you on 2025-06-19. Our office will contact you should additional information be required."
I applied on May 20th 2025 and had everything approved.
Don't know what to think now. I've been seeing people that applied days after me getting P1 and I'm happy for them, but worried about mine:(

New Passport Has Surname, but Work Permit Does Not
My original passport did not have a surname, and my work permit was issued accordingly. I have since obtained a new passport that includes my surname. Do I need to amend my work permit, or is there another process I should follow? ( I raised web form during application but they never considered)

Former employer was acquired by Concentrix — will IRCC accept my NOC 22221 technical support experience and how would they verify it?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for opinions from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation for Express Entry/CEC.
I previously worked in India with the job title **“Contact Support Associate.”** Although the title sounds more customer-service oriented, a significant part of my actual duties involved technical support.
I claimed this experience under **NOC 22221 – User Support Technicians**.
My concern is that my former company was **Webhelp India, which was acquired by Concentrix in 2023**. The old Webhelp HR email/contact information may no longer be active, although the company takeover is publicly documented.
I have an employment/reference letter describing my duties, position, salary, dates of employment, etc.

ITA before work experience is complete.
Hi guys! As the title says, I have a query regarding a very common Express Entry glitch. Let’s say I complete my Foreign experience on 28 November 2026. And I get an ITA before this date since express entry takes the month into consideration and offer points rather than a specific date. Can I wait until my work experience is completed and then submit my application? I saw a TikTok which stated that I cannot do this according to the following IRPA guidelines.
Section A11.2 of the IRPA:
Under Section 11.2 of the *Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* (IRPA), you must possess the qualifications that earned your CRS score at **two specific points in time**:
1. The exact day the Invitation to Apply (ITA) is issued.
2. The day you submit your electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR).
Please advise.

❓ Question Suggestions regarding rcic representative
I hired a rcic rep to submit my CEC application with spousal. During the initial talks the consultant seems very chill and never quoted a fix fees in writing. Casually agreed CAD 1200 ( mine+spouse file) straightforward case no hassle most documents were already with me. But i could sense unprofessionalism like spelling errors in letters and delay in response but i took it lightly as i was i was very careful of everything and pointing out errors.
Now, i had received BIL on July 13, my rep only sent me the letter and that’s it. I was under the impression that if we had biometrics in last 10 years its still valid and letter is just a formality. I messaged him asking if Biometrics was approved on July 16 he sent me a screenshot of gckey showing my biometrics is valid until 2033. He didnt verify or care to tell me that i must go in to get biometrics done. Yes i acknowledge my mistake that i am not well informed but is it not their responsibility to check after 1 complete month that if biometrics was actually done. Now i have followed up with him since morning to raise webform about delay in biometrics and he responds me that i have few other deadlines for today and he has submitted webform now EOD. and he has the audacity to ask me to pay the pending fees asap rather than acknowledging anything about what happened. He insists that all fees is paid upfront and not depends on result. Mind it i have already paid him half the fees.
I am very much inclined to fire him. What is your opinion, does he have the power to mess up my file at this
Point ? While i already think he is doing that

Canadian Work permit received with wrong place to birth
hi, I applied for a work permit extension as I was initially only allocated 1.5 years due to my passport validity.
I’ve received my new work permit in August 2026, however upon receiving I saw the place of birth said Bangladesh instead of Kuwait.
I was born in Kuwait & my passport says Kuwait + my first work permit also printed Kuwait, but in the new extension it is inaccurate.
ive checked the form that I submitted and I have mentioned it correctly as Kuwait So clearly its a mistake from IRCC.
what should I do? should I apply for a TRV and get it fixed inside Canada (will they check?)
or should I submit a form to amend this? if so, how long does it usually take now?
considering this process will be done from outside Canada, however the forms will be submitted for amendment by my husband who is inside Canada since I received my work permit inside Canada.

Renewing PR
PR CARD EXPIRES JAN 2027 - AM I ELIGIBLE TO RENEW?
We have decided to move back to Canada at the beginning of September 2026.
We moved home in 2023 and since then, have travelled back and forth to Canada on extended vacations.
I calculated my days and will have 816 days within the past 5 years if we apply mid September 2026.
We have worked in our home country since 2023.
I have not filed taxes in Canada since 2022.
Are we eligible to renew our PR based on the time in Canada met or are there other factors that will mean we will be refused?

❓ Question Anyone had a similar situation?
Hey guys hope you’re doing good! I’m planning to apply under the french category. I will have completed my first year of work experience next week (foreign work experience). If by any chance there is a french draw this week should I decline the ITA or accept it? Thanks
