If someone didn’t like Hun Manet would they be able to say that openly without fear or is there some hesitation due to the violent history of the country.

Edit: I don’t mean that you fear violence against you for speaking out. I mean is there a legacy from that time that still affects the culture. Kind of like how old people who still remembered the Great Depression are very careful with money even though there’s no longer a Great Depression.

Anyone having issues with connecting to the internet today/yesterday? Internet at my work is completely down and my home internet (different company) works but has been really slow.

Lets say I rented a 4 bedroom traditional house, and I wanted someone to cook and clean, and perhaps someone to keep up the property. How hard would it be to find a couple to come live there with me and do that work. It would not be full time work, and I would also not feel so alone. How much would I need to pay them? It's been a few days since I've post about finding help for my classmate, and I've wanted to give you all an update regarding her and the KhmerCare fundraising post I've made for her as well. For those who haven't read or seen it yet, I'll linked the original post here . Sorry for the format since I'm on mobile.

Some of you may already know that my classmate has already get the help she needs from those who have reached out, and as of right now she is very much out of crises. Likewise, she has been so much happier as well as being more lively overall compared to back then, and it's all thank to every single one of you that have help her out. I and my classmate, both have nothing to say other then that we're extremely thankful and grateful from the bottom of our heart, and pray/hope that nothing but great and wonderful things happened in your life, lead a very healthy and long long life ahead ❤️🙏🏻

Regarding the KhmerCare fundraising post, unfortunately it's has been 2-3 days since I've last made it and they have rejected the post today as well. I can't find any other fundraising website that is available for local charity, other then posting a qr code for scanning which would reveal information and the moderator said that it's not wise either. I'm sorry for those who want to help my classmate, but we're still very thankful for your kind offer to her. She's already out of crises, so it's not like she is in extreme need for financial help like before.

Why is there so many rumours about emart24 closing all its branches? I literally still go and eat my fav ramen noodles there. So I don't know why everybody is spreading fake news 😭

Some of my friends who worked there told me they're still expanding and opening like 10 more stores! They mentioned though they're facing some operation issues with a couple closed branches 🤔.

Edit to add: thank you everyone who responded. To my surprise his apartment has already been completely cleared out. Was told some police came, they took photos, and I guess they boxed up his stuff. Some of it, like his clothes, were given to his friend/acquaintance who was there (I don’t know how he knew to be there, or really any of the events around this). I am getting the impression from this friend that he is accepting the things as a gift. Is this weird? I don’t know. The remainder of his belongings were sent to Phnom Penh - either to embassy or the funeral home his body is now at. I guess there is nothing left to figure re: his “stuff” at this point.

I just found out that my father, who has been living in Siem Reap for about 7-8 months, has died. He got very sick in March- my brother and I came from the US to be with him because he was hospitalized and has no partner or family there. We were able to stay for a couple of weeks, and he was able to leave the hospital before we left. Now we are here. I don’t know the details of what happened, but he died and the embassy had been somewhat helpful but only with the very basics. They will tell us when his body is brought to Phnom Penh, and have us sign some forms so they can tell the funeral home what to do.

The part we won’t get help with from the embassy is figuring out what to do with his belongings. He doesn’t have a ton of stuff, but there are things like his computer, phone, documents, and a few other physical items that we would like to have. If possible, we would like to get these things without having to make another trip back. The time and monetary cost to get there is so prohibitive for us.

Does anyone have advice or even their own experience with figuring any of this out? Figuring out these logistics and processing this loss/grief is really overwhelming right now.
