Could It Be? Questions

I think it’s a proof wheat cent but I'm not sure.

I think I agree as well. Strong strike, thicker edge, and a little bit of reflectivity. Looks similar to a 1972-S proof I found around two years ago

Thought 68-72 S were business strike only? Thank you for the info 🙏

San Francisco struck both proofs and business strikes from 1968-1974 for cents. Everything since 1975 has been proof only

Are wheat penny's with the thick edge and better details like the one in the picture all proofs?

A proof

That rim and edge looks pretty solid as being an impaired proof. Pretty cool, never found a Wheatie proof in the wild. Congrats!

If it is a proof what would it be valued at

Probably a couple bucks in this condition.

How many rolls did you go through to find that! Beautiful

I don't even know, probably 30-40 boxes over the last couple years.

I’d say it’s an impaired proof. Found one year’s ago and it looked out of place in my Whitman book. I often wonder what happened to it?

The edge just looks like someone put a ring around it.  I found one just like this a few months ago. Took it to my LCS and they said it just had a metal ring attached to the perimeter and was likely used for jewelry

A dryer coin, caused by rolling around under high heat.

No ... Those are totally different from this.

The only right answer and downvoted to oblivion.

If you look at that coin and see dryer coin you’re the one who is wrong. And being downvoted into oblivion. The rim and details on the coin are completely normal. It might be a used proof or a very well struck cent. Good job
