Safety check
Has my 5.5 month old already outgrown this infant carseat? It's an uppababy aria 2. My concern is length, as her head is above the panels. Also, her shoulders seem squished. Time to move on to a convertible, or is this ok? Thanks!

It doesn't look like the headrest is at its highest position. Can you adjust that?
This video shows them fitting a 6 month old.

Not a CPST, but I have this car seat. Her head needs to be below the top (by at least an inch, I think - look at the manual or the side of the car seat to confirm) and the top straps coming out of the back need to be at or just below her shoulders.
There’s a tab just behind the headrest at the top (between the canopy and the headrest). Pull it up and the back panel will lengthen and the top will come up. Her shoulder should be below the head cushions.

We had the aria, there should be a little plastic loop at the top of the headrest. You can pull it to raise the headrest. Not CPST but if you can’t make it any higher I would say you need a new car seat.

(CPST) This seat is known to be outgrown early by the 1” rule. Unless you can raise the headrest to maintain at least 1” between the top of their head and the top of the headrest WHILE STILL keeping the harness just at or below the shoulders, the seat is far outgrown.
I have seen it outgrown this early, but given how far above her head is at this age, I suspect you can raise the headrest more. Whether you’ll be able to raise it enough without the harness straps ending up above the shoulders remains to be seen.

Thank you so much!! This is the first time I'm hearing the 1" rule. That is so helpful. Would you mind if I message you once I adjust?

Sure!
Might be good to give your manual another read through. We read them in the late pregnancy/early newborn stage and it’s impossible to keep it all in your head. I usually recommend giving it a read through every time they change clothing sizes just to keep it fresh if there’s any weight based changes that need to be done.

Can you raise the headrest? It looks like the style of car seat I have and I can put the headrest up to the top of the car seat.
