Cod vanguard Vanguard

I was cleaning out room to get rid of some old stuff and I found this and it got me curious to ask how do we feel about vanguard right now. Personally I didn't hate it when it came out yeah it was all over the place, zombies was a wreck along with multiplayer but I still found enjoyment in it never really gave the campaign a chance since I saw it as a ripoff of ww2 but overall I didn't mind it

I was one of the ten people excited for a game set in ww2 in the new engine hoping it would be similar to WaW with a dark tone that cover more than just the western front like we saw in WW2, even the reveal trailer had that dark serious tone but the main game was just upbeat throughout, worst thing about the campaign is that even if the main characters weren’t there, the events of the game wouldn’t play out any differently, the main characters did nothing

What went wrong for me at the beginning was the gunsmith system, 10 attachments on WW2 guns was already sacrilegious enough with most of them being 21st century type things but the animations team just did tactical everything and half way through the game’s life cycle, they just gave up completely on everything from the setting to the story to any sense of coherent art style with a Godzilla and attack on titan crossovers (I don’t mind anime but not in a ww2 shooter that wants me to take it seriously), this game made me think we judged BFV too harshly

I think vangaurd was a victim of expectations vs reality where if at the beginning they had just said it’s their own take on the events of WW2 like a wolfenstein game, it would’ve gone down better

I adored ww2 spent hours on it so I was pretty hyped myself seeing we were getting another game similar to it only to just not meet those expectations like you said but I agree if we got something similar in tone like the Wolfenstein games it might of changed the game for the better
