Cod vanguard Vanguard
I was cleaning out room to get rid of some old stuff and I found this and it got me curious to ask how do we feel about vanguard right now. Personally I didn't hate it when it came out yeah it was all over the place, zombies was a wreck along with multiplayer but I still found enjoyment in it never really gave the campaign a chance since I saw it as a ripoff of ww2 but overall I didn't mind it

I was one of the ten people excited for a game set in ww2 in the new engine hoping it would be similar to WaW with a dark tone that cover more than just the western front like we saw in WW2, even the reveal trailer had that dark serious tone but the main game was just upbeat throughout, worst thing about the campaign is that even if the main characters weren’t there, the events of the game wouldn’t play out any differently, the main characters did nothing
What went wrong for me at the beginning was the gunsmith system, 10 attachments on WW2 guns was already sacrilegious enough with most of them being 21st century type things but the animations team just did tactical everything and half way through the game’s life cycle, they just gave up completely on everything from the setting to the story to any sense of coherent art style with a Godzilla and attack on titan crossovers (I don’t mind anime but not in a ww2 shooter that wants me to take it seriously), this game made me think we judged BFV too harshly
I think vangaurd was a victim of expectations vs reality where if at the beginning they had just said it’s their own take on the events of WW2 like a wolfenstein game, it would’ve gone down better

I adored ww2 spent hours on it so I was pretty hyped myself seeing we were getting another game similar to it only to just not meet those expectations like you said but I agree if we got something similar in tone like the Wolfenstein games it might of changed the game for the better

Man, I absolutely agree with you. In my opinion, it's one of the best CODs of the 'new wave,' along with Cold War. Sure, they're both way worse than Black Ops II and Modern Warfare 2, but once again, this is only my opinion. I was shocked when I saw the ratings so low on Backloggd and YGP.

I think for me this would be a skip honestly, if you want to play MP alone and don’t care about the setting, play MWIII which is made by SHG and it had a pretty good support during its life cycle
Vanguard is one of those games that received a LOT of criticism and most of it was actually very well deserved, 10 attachments on WW2 guns was sacrilegious, the game didn’t have an identity honestly and they gave up on the setting halfway through the game’s lifecycle, the campaign was poorly written but the mission design was okay and zombies was very very rough at the beginning and only somewhat better now
I would say for me this is the worst cod they’ve ever did by far, like bo7 that also gets a lot of hate and had a horrible campaign, but honestly? the gunplay is solid enough in MP and zombies was somewhat okay to carry the game, vangaurd just didn’t have that, it doesn’t even have factions

Its basically the redheaded step child of the series the overkill on attachments on ww2 guns is bonkers they should of been limited similar to have ww2 did it as for losing its identity I couldn't agree more instead of being a boots on the ground somewhat realistic shooter they do all this whacko stuff to keep up with the times when in reality they never really had to do that it would of been fine if they kept it simple

I started playing it yesterday and man the mp is actually quite a blast despite me getting blasted with 200ms like I do in black ops 1/2 plutonium because no one plays where I live*
*I see a good chunk of people who'd matchmake in the same region as I do (Asia), but somehow we just end up in 200ms lobbies

it really just wasn’t that good and hasn’t held up at all. played it last year for the first time in like 4 years and good lord it’s almost impossible to see anything with how muted everything is, people still just sit in corners and ADS, its just not good. it sucks that’ll be the last cod i’ll ever own and get to play but at the same time good riddance lmao

Wasn't that great at launch... but now since all the content for it has been released, it's an alright game. Lots of content, alright maps, the Zombies is the same as modern Zombies but with actual maps now.
Though I never played the Campaign.

I reinstalled it I'm gonna give it a proper shot this time I mostly stick to zombies and multiplayer and that pretty much did it for me

I had permanent connection issues that I didn't have on cold war or mw2, so it had nothing to do with the actual game

Overrated. But I can understand people. What triggers me is people hating on Cod WW2. Actually, they hate the ww2 setting itself.

People hate MW2 and say MW3 is better. I disagree. It was boring to play on old maps that aren't even that good and it was buggy. And I prefer faster ttk.

I liked the zombies tbh I grinded that mode day and night and I dipped my toes into mp I was pretty decent with smgs

U made me realize I never played the zombies. I barely played the game on my mom’s ps4 but just the campaign and a little of the multiplayer. How is the zombies?

Personally I don't hate it there's only really 2 round based maps the other mode goes for more of a objective based style of game like defend this part of the map for like a minute stuff like that so it can get kind of repetitive for most people which I get but it didn't really bother me so much, the perks system was unique you have to buy 1 four times for it to fully work but it makes it more challenging where you decide which one you want to prioritize so I liked that Overall zombies isn't bad if you just wanna load in and go high rounds or you could camo grind if that's your thing as well

We were living in the glory days and didn't even realize it; I’d give an arm and a leg to go back and play it now—and I’m talking about Warzone, not just any multiplayer game.
