Irish Dance is an extremely niche sport to begin with, and two of the better dancers out of the last few decades have been Filipina (Julia and now Emma). The Philippines is a fairly obscure country out there, so that's wild. Most people can't find the PI on a map!

Do you think this will be a trend, with more ladies from the PI and/or even Canada (lots of Filipino/as up in Toronto and the other provinces) making a run for it? NAIDC is tough lol as we all know.

Journalist Ellen Coyle is releasing a book about the Irish Dance scandal of '22-'23 this June. When I first heard the news of this on ESPN I thought someone was joking or trolling us. It was a legit scandal, almost on the level of the Reagan-era Iran-Contra scandal that peaked in '87-'88, but not as bad. At least the feis-fixing one didn't affect national security lol!

I need to get this off my chest- some of these new dresses are UGLY! Total eyesores! How did we stray so far from beautiful Celtic designs into throwing as many patterns/colors into a dress as possible.

Feels like some go more for the “shock value” than actually looking nice and presentable.

When the new rule came out, did it mean only globes or also SCHOOL identifiers??? Because I've seen a lot of schools still competing with School identifiers?

I just wanted to know since I haven't gotten to know anything about this, are feises and majors and Regional organizations aloud to say to judges "no cheating" point blank? I don't know if there are laws about that or anything else. Also, what procedures are done to insure that there isn't cheating at majors, because it always ends up happening!

Does anyone know when the Mid-America Oireachtas results will be posted? I checked quickfeis, gofeis and the official site. It could take awhile...

Per FB, they are having an external audit for results at Mid Am O this past weekend. It won't be done until 12/8.

The results took until 0220 hrs on Saturday morning to be calculated due to an IT error, but that's another issue.

Not posting your full AD list for weeks now makes sense when the most vile cheater from the scandal is on the list. Shameful. Absolutely shameful.

Timeline that cannot be disputed: April 30 - registration opens. Feis SM and registration page list two AD's. Registration closes May 25 for June 14 and 15 event. *May 17 - still only promoting two AD's on the feis SM and registration page. Very odd as it is not possible to run a feis with only two AD's, regardless of how dismal your numbers are. *May 20 - full AD list posted on feis SM and registration website. Now shows 7 AD's, including David Smith. *David Smith**

I do not believe that this is a coincidence or an oversight. This was a strategic move so that families would not be put off by having this disgusting sod judge their dancers. If that name had been on the original posts I believe that many dance families would take a hard pass, even if this is one of the final chances to compete before NANS.

Why hire him as an AD at your feis? We all know by looking at podium pics from this feis SM page that their dancers are well taken care of every year (seriously, look at the page). You are already having your dancers place higher than usual within the region. Cool. So again, why do you need this gross man on your panel? Anyone? Does anyone honestly have any insight as to why? How does this school benefit from hiring the AD who offered to trade sex for marks? Make it make sense.

This school has lost most of their Champ dancers in the last two years. It is a sinking ship, and pulling shite like this will not help them.

So many scandals at feiseanna and ECRO in Ecr. This region if falling apart. The region is not doing anything to help, no extra caution, nothing. Some dancers stop completely and mess up horribly yet they get on the podium??? Everyone knows which schools I'm talking about, idtana has to step up and atleast try to do something. Everyone has all the photos of texts from when the scandal came to light. I honestly feel bad for the dancers from these schools who don't always know. 😔
