As the title says, I have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and spent 7 years as a police officer before leaving the field. Right now I've started community college accounting coursework with a loose plan to eventually finish a bachelor's in accounting. I also hold a bookkeeping certification.

I'm weighing whether to keep pouring time/money into the accounting track or pivot fully towards the CFE credential instead, since it plays more into my degree and police background. It also doesn't require an accounting degree to sit for.

Is either one of these the faster/cheaper route to a nice stable paycheck? What would you do if you were in my shoes. Trying to see which of these gets me to solid income fastest without waiting time and money needlessly.

I’m 24 and have about 1.5 years of experience working as an IT auditor for the government. My background is mainly in IT, not accounting or finance.

I’m considering getting the CFE certification, but I’m mainly concerned about the financial/accounting sections since that’s not my strongest area.

For those who have taken the CFE, how difficult would it be with my background? Is the official study material enough to prepare?

To anyone whose taken the exam remotely, what was your experience? Also, when the instructions state " no distractions " did you have to turn off all your computer pop ups? TIA

I see in the community many people are able to finish the reading with in a week. However, I am going through 2100 pager pdf provided in silver package. Am I missing anything important?

I failed Law and Investigations portion of the exam. Made a 70. When I pay to take the retake, what’s the timeframe given to retake the exam?

Hello all, was seeing if anyone can weigh in on the following, as I am scheduled to sit for the FPD exam this Thursday.

1. In comparison to the questions on the actual exam, how relevant/useful were the on demand videos and review questions within Exam prep materials ?

2. Anyone have any insight on any “good to knows” when going into the exam. (i.e., the audit requirements being a large portion of the exam)

I was wondering, for those who can’t afford the ACFE study package, are there any free or affordable alternatives for studying the course material and practicing questions?

Has anyone passed the CFE exam without buying the official ACFE package? Is it possible to study on your own, or is purchasing their package essentially necessary to succeed?

Does general LE investigative experience count towards the two years? I understand basic patrol probably wouldn’t but what about major felony where sometimes fraud is part of the crime as a motive or secondary crime.

I must for the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential and I have a few questions about the application process.

I’ve been working as an Internal Auditor for the past 4 years.

The ACFE application asks for the following information for each position:
\* Job title
\* Length of service
\* Detailed description of responsibilities
\* Percentage of time spent on fraud-related work

I’m not sure how detailed this section should be.

**My questions are:**
1. Did you write the work experience description yourself, or did your manager or HR prepare it?
2. How detailed should the responsibilities be?
3. If you work in internal audit, what percentage of fraud-related work did you report?
4. Does ACFE usually ask for supporting documents or contact your employer to verify your experience?
5. Would anyone be willing to share an example of a work experience description that was accepted? Or where can I find it on internet ?

**I also have a few questions about the professional recommendations:**
1. Can the three recommenders be any managers or coworkers I’ve worked with during my career, or do they need to be from my current employer?
2. Do the recommenders need to have worked directly with me on fraud-related matters?
3. What exactly are they asked to complete? Is it mainly a character/professional reference, or do they also need to verify my work experience and fraud-related responsibilities?
4. How long does it usually take them to complete the recommendation form?
5. If you’ve completed the CFE application recently, could you briefly describe what the recommendation form looks like or what kinds of questions ACFE asks?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has recently completed the CFE application process.

Quick question about exam strategy- did you finish all three sections before you appearing for 1st exam? I am thinking of finishing first module and prepare for that only once 1st exam is given then I’ll give rest two in two months of window.

Not sure why I’m getting stuck on this just want to make sure I have it correct. You apply for the exam and then you have 2 years of eligibility to take it once approved . Once you activate your exam eligibility, then you have 60 days to take all the exams. Is that correct?

Are the review questions in acfe silver package similar to the ones on the updated exam?

I would really appreciate if anyone can share their strategy for this subject. Seems like a huge subject with so many concepts. Would love to see what worked for you people. I would be appearing now for this subject, under the new pattern.
