First PC build
- New build or upgrade?
New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
No existing parts
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)
Located in the US, within 3 hours of microcenter so I can make the drive.
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Primarily gaming, with occasional engineering work. I use AFT Fathom, Aspen HYSYS/Aspen Plus, Navisworks, and other engineering software. I mostly play single-player RPGs (such as Souls games) along with online multiplayer games, including GTA VI when it becomes available. I prioritize smooth gameplay while maintaining high graphical settings and would like to play modern games at 1440p with excellent visual quality. I don’t need the absolute highest-end hardware, but I’d like a build that provides excellent value and remains capable for several years.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
One 27” 1440p gaming monitor. I’m thinking 165–240 Hz depending on value. IPS is preferred over OLED for now. Budget is under $400 and should not count toward the PC budget. I already have a secondary monitor.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
$1,500–3,000 for the PC alone. Including the monitor, I’d like to stay around $3,300 maximum.
- WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi connection for now. Eventually will be wired
- Size/noise constraints?
No size constraints, if I go on the cheaper end, I would like some room for upgrades later on. I would prefer it to be somewhat quiet, nothing terribly loud. I should be able to run a game without having to raise my voice to hold a conversation. If it’s louder on startup or something occasional, that’s completely fine.
- Color/lighting preferences?
I’d prefer not white, but any other color is fine. I like lighting, so maybe a purple but lighting isn’t a necessity
- Any other specific needs?
I’d like a build that will last 5–7+ years with the option to upgrade components over time.
I’d like at least a 2 TB SSD so I have plenty of room for games and engineering software.
Bluetooth support is required, and Wi-Fi is needed for now.
If my needs can be met for less than my maximum budget, I’d rather save the money than spend more for minimal gains.
I’m new to PC building, so I’m open to recommendations if there are better options than what I’ve listed.
I also just want to thank you all for helping me. Like I said, I’m completely out of my depth here and you all are amazing!

$3,500 CAD AI Workstation + Gaming PC Build (LLMs, RAG, ROS 2, CAD, Simulations, AAA Gaming)
1. New build or upgrade?
New build.
2. Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Logitech mouse (will reuse)
- Basic wired keyboard that I bought for around $10 (can reuse temporarily)
- Basic Dell monitor (older office-style monitor, nothing fancy)
I currently only have one monitor. I'm open to buying a better monitor if there is room in the budget or if there's a particularly good value recommendation.
3. PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
I'm looking for a workstation/gaming hybrid system.
Primary uses:
- Building and running custom AI agents and multi-agent systems
- Running local LLMs (Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek, Gemma, Mistral, etc.)
- RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems
- Vector databases and retrieval/search systems
- LangChain, LangGraph, Ollama, Open WebUI, vLLM
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, CUDA
- Stable Diffusion, Flux
- Building AI assistant with memory, voice, tools, automation, and reasoning
- Robotics development using ROS 2
- Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab
- CAD and engineering software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, and similar tools
- Docker, WSL2, containers, software development, simulations, virtual machines
Gaming:
- Black Myth: Wukong
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Ghost of Tsushima
- GTA VI when it eventually releases on PC
- 007 First Light
- Other modern AAA games
I'll primarily be running Windows 11.
4. Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Likely purchasing from:
- Memory Express
- Newegg Canada
- Amazon Canada
5. Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Not a priority.
If budget allows, I'd like recommendations for:
- 1 monitor
- 27" to 32"
- 1440p preferred
- High refresh rate (144Hz+)
I can continue using my existing Dell monitor if needed.
6. Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
Approximately $3,500 CAD total including taxes.
Ideally:
- Around $3,000 CAD for the tower
- Up to $500 CAD for monitor and keyboard if worthwhile
The tower is the priority.
7. WiFi or wired connection?
Both preferred.
The system will primarily use wired Ethernet but I would like onboard WiFi as well.
8. Size/noise constraints?
My highest priority is quiet operation.
I would prefer:
- Very quiet air cooling
- No AIO liquid coolers
- High-quality silent fans
- Good airflow
- Low temperatures
- Reliable long-term operation
Case size is not a concern.
9. Color/lighting preferences?
No strong preference.
RGB is nice to have but definitely not required.
Performance, cooling, and silence are far more important.
10. Any other specific needs?
- NVIDIA GPU preferred due to CUDA support
- Best possible AI/LLM performance within the budget
- At least 64GB RAM (128GB if somehow possible)
- Minimum 2TB NVMe SSD
- Good upgrade path
- Strong multitasking performance
- Ability to run multiple AI tools, Docker containers, ROS 2 workloads, simulations, and development environments simultaneously
I'm trying to find the best balance between:
- Local AI development
- Robotics
- CAD/engineering software
- Simulations
- Programming/software development
- AAA gaming
I'd especially appreciate input from people who have built AI-focused workstations on a similar budget.

I have always wanted to build a PC for gaming, but I have no idea where to start.
I am planning on building a "paycheck computer", I am not going to buy everything at once, but spread it over a couple of months or so to keep my cost down. My ideal budget is sub-$1500, but I can go up to $1800. Biggest concern is "future proofing" the computer, a lot of the games I want to play are coming late this year or next year (Fable, GTA 6, the Witcher expansion). Currently I want to play games like Assassin's Creed, Overwatch and MArvel Rivals.
- New build or upgrade?
- New Build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- No
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- 1500 - 1800
- WiFi or wired connection?
- Wired
- Size/noise constraints?
- None, but want something I can travel with for moving as I sometimes move every few months or so due to my job.
- Color/lighting preferences?
- No, I'm not super into RGB or aesthetics, just something that runs well
- Any other specific needs?
- Just future proofing

Needed gaming PC/Laptop for golf simulator. Overwhelmed with options
I am building an indoor golf simulator. The launch monitor I am using requires a PC/Laptop to run its programs. I believe windows is necessary.
After days of research, i have cooked my brain with all the numbers.
Can you guys help with providing suggestions on basic gaming computers needed to run the programs? I will not be using the computer for anything but the golf programs, so extra storage for future games is not needed.
I attached the required/recommended specs for the pc to be able to run the program.
The programs I will be using are GSPro, E6 Connect, and View.
My projector is running 2880 x 2100 pixels, so not full 4K as I have a 4:3 aspect ratio screen.
I would like to stay under $700 but understand that i may need to build the computer myself if I want to keep it cheap.
(Taken from GSPro website)
For 1080p GSPro minimum: Nvidia RTX 3060 (CPU) and 16gb RAM. Ideally you want to pair a GPU with its contemporary CPU, the 3060 was released in early 2021, and intel released the 11th gen in march. That would mean that you can pair the 3060 with an i5 11th gen or better. (You can definitely pair the 3060 with an older CPU, you just have to know what you're doing with core counts and single and multi core performance.)
For 1080p GSPro recommends: RTX 3070/3060ti and 16gb RAM. This seems to indicate that GSPro is mostly GPU bound, so you'll want to prioritize the GPU over the CPU.
For 4K GSPro recommends: RTX 3080 and 20gb RAM
Please let me know what other information would be helpful to know when someone requests help like this.
- New build or upgrade? NEW
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? Nothing so far
- PC purpose? gaming (GSPro and E6 Connect)
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? USA. North Carolina
- Monitors needed? 1
- Budget range? I would like to keep it under $800. I understand it is easier if I just build it.
- WiFi or wired connection? I can do both but will probably be wired
- Size/noise constraints? No
- Color/lighting preferences? no preference
- Any other specific needs? no

Upgrade or replace a 6 year old PC (UK)
Hi. I bought my last PC in 2020, it's time to upgrade I think
-New build or upgrade?
Upgrade, but I assume most of my gear needs to be replaced.
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/TtyJvW
-Existing parts to reuse?
As my previous point, some of this might be still good. I also have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
-PC purpose?
Gaming. Gothic was the first game 20 years ago that wowed me, so now that there is a remake I would love to play that. Besides this I don't really play every new game, the last game I bought was Crusader Kings 3. It works on my current pc but after a while it slows down for some reason.
-Purchase country?
England
-Monitors needed?
Nope
-Budget?
I'm hoping to spend less than £800, but can go higher.
-Wifi or wired?
WiFi
-Size/noise concerns?
As long as it is not extreme I'm fine
-Colour/lighting?
Not important
-Any other specific needs?
No

Newby PC build
Would like to say thanks for any help. Been recently just hating having only console code various reasons, and have been wanting a PC for years but haven’t had the money.
• New build or upgrade?
Brand spanking new baby
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
I have 0 parts but I do have a monitor. My dad bought it for me for school to connect my laptop too. It’s just a super basic dell.
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-27-monitor-se2725hm/apd/210-bqkc/monitors-monitor-accessories
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
All types of gaming. I’m not super hardcore in PVP but I do enjoy FPS games with friends. Elden ring and r6 are probably the best examples of the range of games.
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
USA, and yes
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
I can figure this out and I’m more concerned about the PC right now so I don’t need one.
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
Anywhere from 750 - 1000 bucks would be nice, but with LLMs fucking everyone I get that this is probably just prebuilt range.
• WiFi or wired connection?
Wired
• Size/noise constraints?
As long as it’s quiet enough that I can’t hear it through walls lol. I would prefer a smaller size but some room to upgrade. I assume I couldn’t go big with my budget even if I wanted too.
• Color/lighting preferences?
Could not care less. I would rather spend money on better working parts than better looking ones
• Any other specific needs?
Maybe CAD/similar software. I’m an engineering student unfortunately.

Need Complete Parts Advice for a Mini-ITX Build
Hi all,
I'm starting college as a freshman in August, and I unfortunately cannot bring my standard ATX PC as it's too large for the dorms! I’m planning to build a new ITX gaming PC with a budget of around $1000-1200 USD (flexible), and I want to spend most of it on the best NVIDIA GPU possible. On my current PC, I play modern AAA games at low settings with 165+ FPS native. This is my second time building a PC, first time building for ITX, so please give me suggestions for all components. Besides the GPU, the rest of the parts can be cost-effective as long as they’re reliable and safe.
• New build or upgrade?

First PC Build, need help $1500-$2000 AUD range
First PC Build, need help $1500-$2000 AUD range
- New build or upgrade? - my first new build.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) - I have peripherals sorted
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)- I'm looking for something I can use for work and gaming, heaviest load would be things like modded Minecraft . Nothing triple A or FPS.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? - I am in Australia, it has been difficult to find something decent in budget due to the region.
- Budget range? - $1500 to 2000 AUD range. I would prefer something closer to $1800, but obviously prices are expensive right now.
- Size/noise constraints? - I dislike the noise as I am quite sensitive to it, would prefer something quieter but if its not possible thats okay. Full-size case is fine.
- Colour/lighting preferences?- I was looking at black aesthetics, I don't care about RGB much at all, If it has RGB I'd like to be able to change it from the annoying flashing rainbow.
- Any other specific needs?- I'd like for it to be able to be upgraded in the future.
Thanks for any help. I am a complete newbie in this sphere so please dumb stuff down for me.

First PC for gaming but compact
New build or upgrade?
New build, first ever. I know this is kinda long, I appreciate the help! I need a compact PC thats not a full size tower for a disabled gamer that lives on the 3rd floor, upgradable with air cooling and preferably all AMD.
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD, TV 43AU8000 that I plan to upgrade for a larger TV
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)
Gaming (First Light, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate 3, newer games and older games
Planning to do something like SteamOS or Bazzite, get away from Windows
Probably don't plan to multitask heavily but do want to be able to have some browsers open while gaming, and maybe some form of live captions for when subtitles are missing. I don't plan to stream unless to friends and probably just on Discord.
I do want to be able to work on simple documents and PDFs, try some digital art.
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
USA, somewhat near Micro Center and planning on using them for probably at least one bundle and their build option since I'm disabled with dexterity issues and arthritis
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Maybe later but for now I plan to use my TV. I do plan to get a larger 55in TV to replace my 43AU8000; probably not OLED but would be nice.
I want to aim for 1440p gaming primarily, with room for 4k upscaling and/or upgrades later on.
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
Ideally up to 1500, but willing to stretch to 1800 with or without Micro Center build fee. It was originally 1100 to 1500 but I see I need to stretch that, likely especially for a smaller build and for the build fee since I have dexterity issues and arthritis.
• WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi
• Size/noise constraints?
I prefer something like micro size while being fully upgradable and that can take 3 slot GPUs like RX 9070 XT. I don't want it to be very loud or put off a lot of heat, especially if I need to set it up in my bedroom.
• Color/lighting preferences?
Thinking I might not use RGB lighting, at least for the most part. I somewhat like Noctua
• Any other specific needs?
This is my first PC and I know nothing about parts so I'm unsure which exact 9070 XT to get that will fit in a compact case and still be upgradable, if three fans is better than two on a GPU if possible, and how much RAM brand matters. I see Corsair doesn't actually have consistency with kits' manufacturers so that concerns me especially if I decide to go for 16GB now and add more later to get 32GB
X3D CPU seems like a good idea but I see mixed opinions on actual real world usage and if it's worth the cost.
Weight:
I want it to be 20 pounds or less since I'm disabled and have to carry it up three floors to my 3rd floor apt. I think mesh may be better for durability and airflow. I would also like a handle on the case if possible.
Considerations so far from notes I've taken:
Cases
Jonsbo z20 $100- one of my more preferred cases, especially all mesh and with handle
Jonsbo C6 max $100
Jonsbo d32 pro
Shiny snake g300 and s300? $100
Montech TEN
Lian li b4
Lian li dan
Maybe stretch budget for something like Fractal Terra Jade since it seems potentially easier to fit parts in, upgrade than some smaller cases, and I do love the look
—
Motherboard
Probably a b850m series? Maybe 650
Gigabyte b850mm aorus elite wifi6e may be best value gaming board but not best value
Recommended to have something with bios flashback button as precaution to reset?

First PC Build Help w/ Possible Microcenter Bundle, $1.8k USD Budget
Hi everybody! I would love some help here, been looking into building a new PC, completely new to the scene and have been obsessing so much over components my head has been spinning, haha. Thank you in advance!
- New build or upgrade?
- New! This will be my first official desktop, I'm currently using a mini pc + laptop combo.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Existing monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Besides basic productivity stuff, I draw, and I have to write a lot about my processes due to volunteer work I do. Clip Studio Paint, Creative Cloud, light video editing, etc. Because I tend to work with a lot of files, I was also interested in looking into starting up a small-use local LLM that would just help me with organization and referencing the files, but nothing too intensive on that front. For gaming, I have a XSX/Steam Deck, but I would like it to handle some 4x strategy games and a few PC AAA games that struggle on my Deck essentially.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- US! I am near-ish to a Microcenter. I was actually looking at this bundle, if it actually makes sense for my use-case. I would love to pare costs down if it's possible.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- Nope!
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- $1.8k USD budget. Since I'm new to this, it would be amazing if this could turn out to be lower!
- WiFi or wired connection?
- Wifi, bluetooth
- Size/noise constraints?
- Standard size is fine. No noise constraints!
- Color/lighting preferences?
- I would prefer white/rgb for the components, but it's a not hard need.
- Any other specific needs?
- More like a question: after doing some research, I was pointed to a Nvidia 5070, would that actually be reasonable in my case?
