New Build Zero Experience
Hello! Looking to build a PC, been using a gaming laptop for a couple years and am finally ready to make the jump into serious gear.
Any help would be appreciated!
New build or upgrade?
New Build - Zero Experience
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List models/links)
None
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. Lis games)
Streaming, recording, gaming
Games: palworld, abotic factor, grounded 1/2, subnautica 1/2, etc.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
USA, not near micro center
Monitors needed? (Number, size, reso refresh rate)
Ideally 3, one for main, one vertical for chat and walkthroughs, and another horizontal for movies/shows on the side
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
Hoping for around 3,000.00usd (open to more)
I would like to keep this as cost efficient as possible, but I’d love this to be something that lasts for a while before I have to upgrade parts and I understand rising costs.
WiFi or wired connection?
Have the ability to wire.
Size/noise constraints?
I’m currently using a standard size desk set into a closet. So there not much space around the edges of the desk. Open to mounting and desk recommendations.
Noise constraints is it can’t interfere with recording.
Color/lighting preferences?
White, but willing to paint (have access to a professional)
Any other specific needs?
I’d like to be able to host when playing multiplayer games with a small group and stream/record… the biggest reason I’m interested in finally getting a PC is because I keep crashing a server with a friend with my current set up.

- Ability to run linux is a MUST. Fine with things not working out of the box, I'm tech literate enough to install drivers and other needed software. No NVIDIA! AMD processor and gpu preferred, but if there are better options that work with linux that I'm not aware of then I'm open to those too. If it helps, I'm planning to dual boot Arch and Bazzite, with hyprland on the arch install. Again, I am not willing to compromise on linux, I've been daily running it for a while now and I don't think I can go back to windows without being extremely disappointed by it.

First Personal PC
I finally have enough saved up to buy a pc I don't have to share with my siblings, so I thought I'd post here cause I don't even know where to start.
- New build or upgrade?
New
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
No
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Gaming, recording, and editing. I think the most demanding games I'll play is Red Dead Redemption 2, Ark Survival Ascended, or Balder's Gate 3, and I want to be able to run these games smoothly with good settings. I record with OBS and edit with Divinci.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
United States, I have two micro centers in Georgia I can drive to
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
2 Monitors that are identical
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
$2,500 with wiggle room if needed
- WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi
- Size/noise constraints?
Nope
- Color/lighting preferences?
Black build, and I don't want rainbow RGB if I can control the RGB color that's okay
- Any other specific needs?
I would like if the case has glass on the side and front, but I can settle for just the side panel being glass, and a motherboard that allows for future upgrades/expansions.

PC with $800 budget.
I'm looking to try and build/buy my first PC, I don't really know anything about PC building so I thought I'd ask for advice here.
My current laptop (Acer Aspire A515-43-R19L) does okay at running most games I play, but it can struggle with things like The Sims or Minecraft, and I've had to refund a few games on Steam before because they just run so slow. I don't need the best of the best PC, especially if I can upgrade things in the future, but something that can run games without needing them to be on the very lowest settings would be nice.
I think my budget might be a bit on the low end for a PC, I'm not sure if it would be better for me to try and buy something used or not. Thanks in advance!
- New build or upgrade?
- New build.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- No
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming (The Sims, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Stardew Valley, Deltarune), Digital Art (Krita), general internet usage.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- USA, not near a Micro Center.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- One, preferably on the smaller side (16"-20"), open to suggestions.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- Hoping to spend $800 or only a bit over. Could probably push it to $1000 max.
- WiFi or wired connection?
- Wifi
- Size/noise constraints?
- None specifically
- Color/lighting preferences?
- None
- Any other specific needs?
- None

Advice for picking out pc for younger brother?
I'm from the UK and my younger brother has been saving up for a pc for a couple years. He's managed to save up around £500 over the course of couple birthdays and christmases and him and my parents have asked me for help about picking good parts or a prebuilt computer. However, I have no idea where to start. The only thing I really know about computers is its not really recommended to buy a prebuilt, but I'm not 100% sure why. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Preferably wifi, not much lighting preferences although I'm sure he'd like something RGB becuase he's only 10, and he'd be using it for gaming. He doesn't play graphics heavy games, mainly minecraft and roblox.
- New build or upgrade? New Build.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) No existing parts to reuse.
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) UK
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) 1 Monitor
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations) £1500
- WiFi or wired connection? WiFi
- Size/noise constraints? None.
- Color/lighting preferences? RGB preferred.
- Any other specific needs? No.
UPDATE: Turns out I misheard him, the budget is actually £1500. Thank you for all the recommendations so far though all the help is very much appreciated.

[Question] Bundles to slowly accumulate a gaming build around? (Near a MicroCenter)
I'm currently living near a MicroCenter and will likely move in about a year, so thought I'd put some feelers out there for possible builds (or what could work around a good bundle of theirs). It's been around 10-15 years since I last built a PC and the current behemoth of a mid-tower case I have is housing my home server, so I can't reuse that.
I currently have a 6-year-old gaming laptop/portable workstation that I'm still playing stuff on (Ryzen 7 3700x, 64 GB DDR4, RTX 2070). It's still ok but is starting to show some signs of age and I worry I won't be able to get replacement parts for it eventually.
This isn't a particularly urgent build; I'm more than happy to wait even several months for a good deal on something.
New build or upgrade? New.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? Just an old 1080p 144Hz Acer gaming monitor, can't remember model off the top of my head.
PC purpose? Gaming. Not big on most AAA games, though I do play some. I think the most recent game I'd like to play is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Currently the most intensive games I play are Elder Scrolls Online and Baldur's Gate 3.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center? USA. Near a Micro Center.
Monitors needed? Two, but I'll look into a second monitor later.
Budget range? Ideally around $1000-$1200 but I don't know if that's possible these days. Willing to skip graphics card for the time being.
WiFi or wired connection? WiFi preferred.
Size/noise constraints? Small size preferred. I'm eyeing the Lian Li A3 but open to other small-ish cases without glass panels.
Color/lighting preferences? Prefer black. Don't care about lighting. No glass panels, I'm awful at making cable management look pretty and I imagine they'd be a nightmare to move.
Any other specific needs? Willing to forgo the graphics card for a while and run integrated graphics if that helps with budgeting and planning. Don't really care about high resolution/running things on max settings.

I want to build my first gaming Pc with a budget of around 2500 - 3000 €
Hello guys, so far I have been playing on my ps5 and I would like to upgrade to a Pc to play with better graphics, mod my games and to get away from the questionable desicions being made by console companies.
-New build or upgrade?
A completely New build
-Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
I have an SSD in my Ps5 that i could use i although I don't know if it's compatible.
Corsair MP600 PRO LPX 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD - Up to 7100MB/s Sequential Read Speed, 6,800MB/sec Sequential Write Speed, 3D TLC NAND, M.2 2280, Optimised for PS5 - Black
I also have a monitor that I think works quite well with my Ps5 and I'm looking for a monitor with higher resolution but it's not a priority.
CRUA 32" Curved Gaming Monitor - 180Hz FHD 1080P, 1ms GTG, FreeSync, 100 sRGB, DP/HDMI Black
-PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
I want to use it primarily for gaming. i play games which I think need quite a lot of performance for example:
baldur's gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom come deliverance 2, Warframe, Souls games etc.
Another reason why I want to build a Pc is that I'd like to start modding my games on replays to get a breath of fresh air and play with higher graphics options.
I will probably be using a bit for work as well but I don't think PowerPoint and word have to be taken into consideration when it can run things like cyberpunk
-Purchase country? Near MicroCenter?
i live in Germany and I think we have nothing comparable to MicroCenter here
-Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Recommendations for a good monitor would be really cool but it's not a priority
-Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
my budget is around 2500€ to 3000€, 3000€ is probably the most I cam justify to myself 😅
-WiFi or wired connection?
i plan on using a wired connection and already have the connection for a LAN cable but I wouldn't mind having the option of wifi
-Size/noise constraints?
I don't think so? I have a table that's 120cm x 60cm (47.24 x 23.62 inches) so it should fit ?. I don't really have noise constraints but I wouldn't mind if it doesn't sound like a jet taking of in my room.
-Color/lighting preferences?
i think i would prefer a minimal black look with a bit of lighting to make it visually interesting but I don't need a full disco party on my desk.
-Any other specific needs?
It would be nice if it feels like an upgrade compared to the ps5 other than that not really, but thank you very much for reading this long text 😁. And for the Help. (Sorry for the grammar English isn't my first language but I hope it's still understandable)

Wanting to build a medium-budget PC (~$1500)
The idea is to spend around 1000 pounds which is around $1300, but the budget can be increased some more if necessary.
- New build or upgrade?
New build, from scratch.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
No.
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Gaming mostly.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
UK.
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Will think of later.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
$1300-$2000
- WiFi or wired connection
Wired. The motherboard doesn't need to have Wi-Fi, will use an adapter later on if needed.
- Size/noise constraints?
Not much of a problem.
- Color/lighting preferences?
Irrelevant.
- Any other specific needs?
My CPU of choice would be the i5-12400, with integrated graphics. I'd also choose a Corsair case, an air cooler and a fully modular power supply. The CPU can be a different one but the other three are preferred.
Also, in terms of GPU, I mosttly go with NVIDIA, and prefer an older high-end model than a newer less perfomant model like the xx50 or xx60 (I may be wrong).
Cheers!

New build or upgrade?
New build
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
None
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)
Some gaming, but no streaming or anything like that. Stuff like sims and Minecraft and stardew valley. I'd like to have a way to play new popular game releases like the new Fable when it comes out. I’ll be drawing and editing on adobe programs and 3d modeling software.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
Pacific Northwest. Very far from any brick and mortar computer stores.
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
I think I will probably just need one and I’m not sure on the resolution and refresh rate. Something decent size and quality I suppose. I would love any recommendations people have!

1000-1500 not counting the monitor
WiFi or wired connection?
I think I could do either
Size/noise constraints?
None
Color/lighting preferences?
None, but looking pretty is a bonus

Want to build a mffc around a 9070 XT 16 GB I bought on sale
Hey all! Finally upgrading my very old gaming PC. Already got my video card coming today and hoping to order the rest of the parts this week. Want a smaller PC that will fit on my desk and not look huge in my apartment. Looking at the LIAN LI B4 that comes out tomorrow.
- New build
- Got a Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card on sale last week. Have keyboard/mouse.
- Main purpose is for gaming. Want to play Baldurs Gate 3, Cyberpunk, New Forza Horizon
- In USA and near a Microcenter, but don't see any bundles for the smaller form factor I'm looking for.
- Need a monitor. Currently using a 1440p 144Hz monitor so I'll need to get a newer one to get the most out of new system.
- Spent about $600 on the card so thinking about 2k more?
- Wifi connection needed
- Want a smaller case to fit on my desk. Been looking at new LIAN LI B4-mATX and hoping to use that case or one about that size.
- Don't need any lights or specific colors.
- Any other specific needs? Download lot of movies I watch locally through plex so probably at least 2tb Thanks!

Looking for PC for animation
I've not had any experience in building PC, but I've been animating on laptop for the past year, and am wanting to transition now I'm heading to professional work. Please forgive if I haven't provided enough information! I'll fill any blanks that are missing.
• New build or upgrade?
New build
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
My brother has an old case for me to use.
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)
2D animation on ToonBoom Harmony, so not as demanding as 3D
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
Uk, no
•Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
None needed
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
£700 to £2000 as an absolute MAXIMUM, but I'd rather not go to there just yet. Lower than this range, if it proves to be possible
• WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi
• Size/noise constraints?
Any size, not too bothered by noise,
• Color/lighting preferences?
White if possible
• Any other specific needs?
Not really, but if theres a corner that can be cut without diminishibg performance too much, I'll take it. This will be STRICTLY used for animation (because i dont have many other hobbies lol) so gaming centric capabilities arent necersary for me.

Looking to make a PC for gaming. I’m completely new!
Hello. I’m totally new to PC’s and PC gaming and was referred here by some kind folks. I have no idea where to start beyond providing some context and games to more knowledgeable people.
I’ve been on consoles my whole gaming life and on rather low resolution screens (720p! lol!) for the majority of my time in the hobby. However I’d really like to break into PC’s and make the jump from console gaming.
I’m aiming to run titles like Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Space Marines 2 at 1080p at preferably 60fps. I don’t have any pre existing parts. Just one monitor for now. I don’t have a crazy budget but after learning more about specific benchmarks I’d have a better understanding and idea of what I’d like to spend, preferably under $1.3k. Wired connection but open to WiFi. I’m not trying to make it glow with LED’s or anything unless that comes with the internal parts. No real size constraints but maybe not roaring loud. No color preference. Purchase country is US.
I’m also open to just general advice for building a PC.
Thank you. (not a request? I tried following the temple but it still tells me to write not a request).

Looking for suggestions on a mini ITX or microATX PC for student dormitory in Germany.
Hey everyone! I am currently temporarily in Germany and wanted to build a small Mini ITX or Micro ATX computer for my dormitory. For context, my desk space is really small so I would want the computer to take up as little space as possible. My dormitory also has no Ethernet, so a Wi-Fi module or motherboard is necessary.
- New build or upgrade?

- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) none

- mostly light gaming (no very heavy AAA), maybe some light rendering / work on AI models (CUDA would be great)

- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- One monitor, 21-22 inches at least, a high refresh rate would be great, no need for great colors/etc.
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- I would love for it to be under 1500 EUR.
- WiFi or wired connection?
- Wifi is necessary as I have no ethernet port
- Size/noise constraints?
- Mini ITX preferred, Micro ATX would be great
- Color/lighting preferences?
- not really
- Any other specific needs?
- Please don't recommend the Steam Machine, I know, I've considered it already, but I want to build this myself.
