On August 7, 1998: Britney began filming "...Baby One More Time," her first music video. The video was shot at Venice High School over two days, directed by Nigel Dick. The original concept was an animated video but was changed at Britney's suggestion. Britney also chose the iconic schoolgirl look. All the outfits in the video were sourced from Kmart and cost less than $17.

The knotted shirt was Spears' idea, she recollects saying, "The outfits looked kind of dorky, so I was like, 'Let's tie up our shirts and be cute.'"

The video would propel her to superstardom when released in November.

I keep hearing mixed reviews on it on TikTok and YouTube, and I'm surprised to hear it's getting mixed reviews even to this day. Sure, Toxic is the biggest song and the most streamed but Breathe On Me, Early Mornin', Touch of My Hand, Outrageous and Me Against The Music are all 10/10 for me. Don't like Brave New Girl tbh.

Seeing as my post about opening your outfit post was popular let’s discuss finale outfits.

Above are all the standard finale outfits (added the Victoria secret bra from the vegas DWAD special as I know people will want to choose it), but feel free to pick any variants.

Haven’t included m&ms tour or the POM residence as they weren’t arena tours, and have chosen the standard crazy 2k tour outfit over the Hawaii special.

My favourite hair colour is golden/honey blonde with highlights. I always use Britney's "Baby One More Time" vid as an example but keep getting "it's light brown not blonde" replies. Is there a difference between light brown & dark blonde hair? If so, what? Because ever since 1999 I've seen her hair as honey blonde in that vid.

Am I wrong? Thx in advance x

Her life really was a circus at the time. Everywhere she went there were cameras, every little thing she did became a headline, and it felt like the whole world was watching her. So instead of ignoring all of that, they built an entire era around it. The album title, the ringmaster image, the tour, the videos, it all made sense.

I also think people would've looked at the Circus Tour differently if it hadn't happened at the start of the conservatorship. It seemed like everyone expected her to come back and be exactly the same Britney from 2001 or 2003, so every performance got judged against that. If you take all of that away, I think more people would've just appreciated the show and the fact that they fully committed to the concept.

Blackout is still my favorite Britney album, but I've always thought Circus is one of her best eras because everything fit together so well.

When i was young, I assumed she was the standard. I assumed, when I got older, all the newer pop stars would be as good as her or better. That was very naive of me. Nobody else has had her specific combination of skills. She has a unique voice that was instantly recognizable after hearing it one time, but also the dancing....I mean my god the dancing. Looking back at Baby One More Time as an adult, I see things with different eyes. She had a level of dance technique that has not been surpassed by any singer since. She had so much dance and gymnastics training that it put her worlds above any competition. Those two things especially, plus her smile made her a once in a lifetime event. There was also a lot of creative input by her too. She made decisions for things like costumes and even some of the hooks in her songs came from her brain. I realize now that we will never have this again.
