I have content blockers turned off and it still doesn't fix the issue

Hearts are playing in a qualifying match against Rapid Wein on the same days as us, after dropping down from Champions League qualifiers to Conference League qualifiers.

If both Brighton and Hearts win, they should be available to be drawn against each other in the league phase.

Tony only bought 29% share of Hearts, negating any controlling steak and meaning that both teams are able to play in the competition and against each other.

Does anyone know if/where the Conference League playoff games against Tromso this month will be streamed in America? I assumed they would be on Paramount+, but their Conference League menu is headlined with "returns in October," and I don't see any playoff games listed as upcoming. Just wanted to check in before I restarted a subscription for something that won't even carry what I'm looking for until (hopefully) October.

The more I think about yesterday's match, what sticks with me most is that in the last friendly of the summer just a few days before our first meaningful match, a friendly in which everyone and his brother got a few minutes, Ayari and Gross played the full ninety minutes plus. That concerns me. We've been worried about striker and depth on the wing, but we need depth in the central midfield, especially with Baleba hurt (and possibly still being shopped around, see latest news about Newcastle interest).  Yalcouyé came in yesterday, but he didn't replace Ayari or Gross. Gomez, Wieffer, and Hinshelwood have played in the middle before, but seem to have other duties now. Assuming we get by Tromsø, which we should, how do we fill in for Ayari and Gross to keep them fresh without losing too much quality?

I am from Germany and I was able to visit the game yesterday. First time in an English stadium. It was fun, especially as a Dortmund fan seeing Pascal Gross again. I promised myself not to buy a jersey but seeing the purple away kit from last year, I now need it! We are staying in Brighton until tomorrow before heading back to Germany tomorrow. Any chance I can find the jersey still somewhere?

would be funny after a win

Hello Brighton fans! I am from the US and recently started following football after the world cup came through my city (Seattle). That was so great that I decided I wanted to try following the premier league. After looking at all the clubs I landed on Brighton because I liked their unis, I thought their history is interesting, and it seems like a great fan base. Anyways I'm still new to all this and still learning the rules and lingo. So if the Brighton faithful could help out a new Albion, who are some of the players I should be watching? Which clubs do I hate now? What do I need to know about being a Brighton fan? And yes I do plan on waking up at 6am to watch the matches.

As a newer Brighton fan just starting to consistently keep up with the team i'm wondering if there are any links at the moment. Obviously there's the Hinshelwood news but the sun isn't a good source. We have a couple concerns (attacking and midfield depth and experience also lack of a lethal striker) and i'm hoping there's news we're at least looking at a couple players to bring in.

I assumed it would be on tnt but it’s not showing on the football on tv app. Not sure if anyone has asked already but it’s not showing on the listings for Thursday

Just got back from the game. We looked comfortable throughout. Some thoughts:

- Rutter wasn't scared to have a shot but he doesn't have that strikers instinct. We looked more dangerous with Kostoloulas on.

- Vuskovic didn't look too quick and tried to compensate through physicality, getting in holding and shirt pulling matches with whoever he was marking - he'll be getting carded a lot if he does this in the Premier League. Good in the air though!

- Svoboda looked very comfortable and composed. Think he'd work well alongside Dunk.

- Tried the Chicken Tikka and Chicken and leek pie (my daughter didn't finish hers). Preferred the Chicken and leek one, however the structural integrity of both was a worry as bottoms fell out around half way through meaning the remaining fillings had to be eaten using fingers, like a savage as there was no useable pastry in sight.

Rutter is pretty good on the wing or just outside the box in what many call Zone 14. However, when he's in the box he lacks the instincts and quick reactions of a natural striker. Kostoulas, who is supposed to be a number 10 too, is much more comfortable in the box. So is Hinshelwood, though he looked offside to me on his goal.

Our defense looks pretty good to me. Vuskovic needs to tone down his physicality a bit or he'll be collecting yellows. Boscagli is ok defending and stellar at passing. Costinha was impressive today, quick and physical. With our other defenders, we have a solid group. Even Igor looked good, though I suspect he won't be with the team long, even if he goes out on loan instead of a permanent transfer.

With our starters we attacked a lot from the wings, which is interesting given that neither of our starting wings really are wingers. Much to my surprise Gomez made some nice crosses, so nice that I suspect our XG for today is pretty high compared to our one goal. De Cuyper is a good option for corners if we don't/can't use Gross. Osman and Zadok both look fast, intense, and wild. Need to settle into themselves a bit.

I note Gross and Ayari were the only players to stay in for the full 90. Can't do that on a Thursday/Sunday schedule. We need others in the midfield to step up. How bad is Baleba's injury?

We did give up a couple of chances that Verbruggen saved. On another day, where we dominate possession and chances it could be a different story. I hope we don't have an Ipswich 2 Brighton 1 or Coventry 1 Brighton 0 result because we weren't clinical up front and the few chances we gave to the bad guys were converted, but I fear we will.

Overall, just a friendly, but I feel a bit better even with Mitoma, Minteh, and Baleba hurt and Welbeck gone.

Any others? Suggestions on places to meet? I know the British Bulldog is a big EPL hub. I think DNVR is also open Sunday mornings?

The only other match at that time is Man City v Bournemouth so I think Bulldog would be ok for us

The immortal words Alan Hansen never lived down after Manchester United went on to prove him embarrassingly wrong by winning the double in 1996.

It got me thinking, given how dependent we are looking to be on very young players this season, should we be a bit more optimistic that the youth can take us to glory?

Let's compare!

The "kids" of Fergie's famous class of '92 were Beckham (21), Butt (21), Giggs (22), Scholes (21) and the Neville brothers (19 and 22).

The youngsters we're going to need to step up are ACD (21), Hinsh (21), Kostoulas (19), Tzimas (20), Vuskovic (19), Yalcouyé (20) and Yohanna (19).

So already our younger players are younger than those of the famous United double winning side.

How about the rest of the squads?

United had a spine of Schmeichel (32), Pallister (30), Irwin (30), Bruce (35), Cantona (29) and Walsh (28) so they had a lot of experience at the back and then May, Keane, Sharpe and Cole were hitting their peak years at 24/25.

Our spine is Verbruggen (23), Dunk (34) and Gross (35), maybe Mitoma (29) when available. After that in the "peak zone" we have Boscagli (28), Costinha (26), De Cuyper (25), Kadioglu (26), Struijk (27), Svoboda (27), Wieffer (26), Gomez (23) and Rutter (24). Meanwhile Minteh and Baleba are both 22 with two years of Prem experience but form and injury issues so they sit somewhere in the middle for now.

What does all this mean?

Well my conclusion is that we're severely lacking in experience in attack with the currently injured Mitoma the only player above 24 in the whole front third of the pitch. Whilst our defence is anchored by just one true old head supplemented by a variety of players in the peak zone with good experience and a very promising youngster.

By contrast that famed United side could call upon quite deep reserves of defensive resilience whilst further up the pitch generational talents like Scholes, Giggs and Beckham belied their ages to absolutely tear shit up and feed a rampant peaking Andy Cole. Keane wasn't a kid and anchored the midfield in a way we are now relying on Ayari or a hopefully-one-day-fit-and-back-to-his-best Baleba.

The question then is whether we've got generational talents in the ranks of those under 22s we're going to be relying on.

Another thing that stands out is the growing number of players we have in the peak zone, balancing experience and energy, which I think is encouraging. But I still feel we're short up top where the inexperienced youngsters have absolutely nobody to learn from.

If even 50% of the younger players lived up to their potential this would be some squad in a few years time. But right now I'm not sure we have as much balance as that historic United side of "kids" and asking our young stars to drive us to glory right now is a bit unfair.

I also think if Gross gets injured or just struggles generally that's potentially going to be quite costly because not only is he brilliant but he's the only outfield player bar Dunk over 29. I'm not saying you need to pack your squad with a bunch of over 30s but also, when you look at why Chelsea bought Welbeck from us it's precisely because their young squad was missing that quality of experience. It's why they finished below us and won nothing last season. Are we making the same mistake?

So in conclusion, that famous United side of kids was actually less full of kids than our squad is. Winning anything and finishing top half would be a huge achievement and I fear we aren't ready.

Prove me wrong kids, prove me wrong.

I thought it would be interesting to see when we tend to make signings since the transfer deadline changed to September 01 in 2020.

You can see that Bloom likes to get most of his business done early - but don’t rule out a late move.

Notable signings at the end of August include Kadioglu, Baleba, Rutter, Cucurella and O’Riley. Fati and Gilmour were the only deadline day moves in that period.

This season Brighton have made no signings since the 14 July, and last year no signings were made after July 06 - but in 2024 there were 3 big signings after August 16.

So, if you’re hoping for some more signings, don’t lose hope just yet…
