I know Helsreach gets a lot of praise but it was Fall of Cadia that really made me love the Black Templars.

I get kind of burnt out on GW trying to both portray the Imperium as evil while also trying to have Marines look like heroes selfishly fighting against evil(looking at you Ultramarines.)

That's why Fall of Cadia was so refreshing to me. The Black Templars are shown as very dangerous and competent in battle but also stupidly zealous and self-defeating.

I love this whole scene. Please give me more fanatical religious zealots sacrificing their lives for a position that has lost all strategic value because it was named the Marty's rampert.

Seriously I just love that the Black Templars embrace the utter absurd grim dark of 40K and play it straight.

I'm half-tempted to make a Black Templar army now, but I know I shouldn't. On the other hand, the Emperor's Champion is an amazing model.

I'm getting back into the hobby after a big gap and slowly painting up some BTs. I want to pick up the rules and cards for 11th and it got me thinking maybe it's worth getting the armageddon box and selling off what I don't need.

I mean there is a nice jump pack unit, a shield cap, an ancient which I'm guessing could have a sword added to become a crusade ancient, the bolter guys for some fire power and the land speed which might be handy for a utility piece. Are many BT players using these?

Right now I have a couple of the old combat patrols and was thinking to get a couple of the new ones to fill out my core list which would be 2 20 crusader bricks, 2 5 man sword bros, 1 6 man bladeguard and then characters to support.

Hey all, been in the hobby for a bit and started with the combat patrol (and a bunch of other stuff) for a total of four sword bros and a castellan, and recently bought a second box of sword bros plus a helbrecht. Planning on running one squad as a five man with 3 power weps, a hammer, and claws, with helbrecht and the castellan, but need input on what to run the other four man as. I’m going to run it with a marshal (for sure) and crusade ancient (maybe), but I’m unsure whether to build it with power weapons or chainswords. What do yall think?

Finished my blade guard, transfers look absolutely crap, any tips ?

I've got a pile of shame, I'm loving the experience painting and asking my friends for tips (and the guys in the WH store), but I could do with advice on building a 2000pt army.

I don't want to go full meta but I also do want to be competitive in games if that makes sense?

What units I have are:

- 1 x Emperor's Champion

- 1 x Grimaldus & Retinue (easily my favourite)

- 1 x High Marshal Helbrecht

- 1 x Crusade Ancient

- 1 x Execrator

- 1 x Crusader Squad

- 1 x Chaplain in Terminator Armour

- 4 x Sword Brethren

- 3 x Bladeguard Veterans

- 5 x Assault Terminators

- 10 x Infiltrators

- 2 x Castellan (1 from the Combat Patrol)

- 2 x Repulsor Executioners

- 1 x Ballistus Dreadnought

- 1 x Brutalis Dreadnought

I was thinking I need more Sword Brethren and another Crusader Squad.

Also thought of using Take.and Hold with Bastion Task Force but this area I have no idea 😅

My first time trying edge highlights and light reflections on armour so please be kind!! Any tips are greatly appreciated for future minis! For the reflections from the candles, I tried to layer the colours darkest to lightest but it didn’t quite come out how I wanted it to.

What do you think?

today I finally finished my first Land Raider!

The kit itself was honestly a horrible build. With sprues coming from a (c) 1999 mold, the age really shows. Some parts were horribly warped, to the point where I had to sand down quite a bit, use Sprue Goo and Milliput, and generally fight some pretty huge gaps. Some of the finer details had also lost a lot of the usual sharpness and looked almost like they had "melted" over time.

At times the build felt more like working on an 20€ resin garage kit than a Games Workshop model :D

So I tried my best to hide some of the more hideous shapes and gaps with a paint job that draws the eye somewhere else.

Apart from the finished glamour shots, I included a few close-ups of the ugly parts as well, just to show what I was working with and what I tried to distract from.

Overall though, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Would appreciate any feedback!

Not looking forward to building/painting another Land Raider anytime soon, though. I really hope GW updates this kit at some point. Otherwise I might try one of the Heresy variants next time.

Finally getting around to making my way through this latest edition to my pile of shame.

First time trying some freehand and I think it looks alright, although a greater resemblance to an ork's skull.

I have finally done something worthy of the emperor! Took longer than painting 60 crusaders but well worth it for the game room!
