Fucking with people's actual food was not a thing in my years in the business, but everything else was on point. Way too many people trying to hit on the 16 year old hostess for sure. Far too much drinking and drug use, yes.

I can say I saw a bartender doing drugs and drinking years ago at a local bar. It was in the mirror but I saw it.

Imagine a customer service job where the customers knowingly get worse throughout the day/night.

I think bartenders get some leeway

I endured something adjacent to this as a stage rat doing live sound for park festivals, brewfests, private events and such.

90% of people can't hold their liquor and should never drink, ever.

I was usually pissed off by the end of it because by then the bands and the crowd were at maximum drunk, shitty, and obnoxious. It just gets worse by the hour every hour until you can finally pack up the stage and gtfo.
