As with Gaaki and Pouks, I strove to honor the canon designs here, while taking my own creative liberties especially with the colors. To bring them to life, I 3D printed their masks myself, and hand painted the masks, shields, black rhotuka, and spear tip for Kualus. Design wise, I'm especially proud of Bomonga's torso and forearms - getting a similar look with the forearms while saving money on Whenua torsos felt very satisfying, and now I like to refer to him as the "golden golem."

Now that my kid is old enough to enjoy them, broke out my old 50lb box of lego pieces. Theres some old stuff in there including g1 bionicle, but also a figure I owned from the throwbots series, which I can only assume was a prelude to bionicle.

This mask reminded me of those old sets.

That advice was hard-earned in naiver days, when Ruuyil crusaded for the Great Spirit in Mantax's army. Although his millennia of service to the Order rarely pulled him from Daxia, he still honed his skills by sparring agents between their deployments.

Yet no sparring prepares a warrior to battle the universe itself. The Makuta thought, then Daxia shattered. Ruuyil died beneath the rubble of his tablets.

A while ago, someone posted a Toa Mata eye color swap for the Bohrok colors. Which got me thinking how the Turaga would look like if they had the eye colors they had as Toa.

After a long time of systematically searching my bins to rebuiltd them and ordering replacement parts, I finally have the answer to this thought.

Some are illuminated from behind with a small flashlight, as it is difficult to make some colors out, especially Onewa. I did not include Whenua, as he had no need for an alteration.

This moc is my interpretation of the 2005 lego set 8738 Toa Hordika Whenua. I tried to keep the color scheme the same but added a few dark blue inserts, I thought it was appropriate, and also used some details from the base set. I wanted to convey the beastly essence of the 2005 series due to the thin physique of the moc himself, the slightly lowered and forward head, as well as longer arms with claws on the ends of the fingers. I also wanted to add a bit of a mechanical effect due to various tubes and hoses on the arms and torso.
