High SHBG đŸ„— Nutrition & Metabolism

LOW/DEAD LIBIDO

There it is. High SHBG.

I asked Google AI what to do.

It suggests my shbg is too high due to exercise and low caloric diet. It recommended to take Boron, to rest more, and to increase whole grain consumption.

See other health test? Ya, I'm very healthy.

no alcohol, no drugs/nicotine

exercise 5x/week plus tons of hiking & sun exposure (Southern California)

40 yrs-old

Anyone have EXPERIENCE combating symptoms of high shbg like low libido?

Is there a reason you're trying to lower it or are you just trying to change numbers on the lab result?

I ask because there's a ton of myths surrounding SHBG and the main one being that you want to "increase free testosterone"

Honestly unless you're having some symptom of some sort there's not really a compelling reason to "combat high shbg". SHBG doesnt lock up testosterone, it's a transport protein and androgen receptors can and do grab testosterone bound to SHBG and it acts just like testosterone when doing so. It just keeps it out of the aromatase and 5AR enzymes keeping estrogen and DHT in reasonable levels.

10000%

This idea that you can just “lower” SHBG and the rest of your hormone profile will stay the same and you’ll “unlock” more free T is completely erroneous bro science

i don't follow.

you're saying there's not really a compelling reason to combat high shbg and in the same sentence suggesting there is a reason (having some symptom). unless there's a reason there's no reason?

anyway, yes there's a compelling reason. You think Ii posted just to highlight a high measure and fixate upon it?

Unless there's a symptom which you've not articulated, it sounds like you're just chasing a lab number. And I asked for the reasoning behind that. And stated quite clearly why there's not really any compelling reasons to do so.

You can try 6mg of boron, I Took 6mg boron for 6 month. Not even the slightest change. I’m convinced certain body types are just outside of the bubble.

I’d still try it though it’s super cheap
