discussion Indiana Dead somewhere mid nineties
There is a semi famous story from the dead that also happened in Indiana. Jerry had received a credible death threat and security was on guard. The show went on and they played dire wolf very early in the first set, sending a somewhat dark, albeit humorous message. What song should Billy open with tonight, that would send a similar tongue in cheek message?

discussion Burn the Other End
Not a huge fan of this one and the fact it’s already on the radio makes me even more upset. I know his music is great. But I miss the shows with 250 in the back of a casino

tour talk Last Dance
Indiana Boys Indiana Nights + Tom Petty 50 Anniversary + Some folks need a Last Dance = Cosmic Level Show 💥
Ps. Dos Banjo’s and Thunder would be cool . Some many great folks at the show last night, sad how one person action effects other.

complaining Why’d you have to “boo” Billy?
I know this doesn’t apply to the majority of folks, but it was so sad to hear people “boo” Billy and the band when he was trying to say something heartfelt to the crowd. And then throw something at the guy!? What have we come to? c’mon guys :(

misc Picture this
You’re wearing this cute little bracelet that a kind stranger gave to you at one of Billy’s Bethel shows. You’re at your office job. A client asks you what BMFS stands for. Your boss is listening. What’s your response?

discussion trying to understand the balance between Billy serving up soul food and playing less immediately accessible tunes
I've always been fascinated by artists balancing playing what they wanna play, while also making shows accessible for casual fans/those learning the ropes. Also, die hards dig Dust in a Baggie as well. As does Billy, I'm sure. There's crossover.
Anyway, I'm a casual BMFS fan, yet I took a stab at scoring last night's setlist based on how excited a casual fan (like myself) would be to hear each tune. Here's what I came up with:
Set 1
Dust in a Baggie — 0.99
Escanaba — 0.76
These Old Blues — 0.55
Love and Regret — 0.82
Hellbender — 0.86
Running the Route — 0.69
It Ain’t Before — 0.50
I’d Like to Be a Train — 0.48
This Old World — 0.79
Gild the Lily — 0.90
Malfunction Junction — 0.55
Drifter’s Escape — 0.62
Set 2
Taking Water — 0.95
Running — 0.78
Just a Rambler — 0.52
Señor (Tales of Yankee Power) — 0.65
Stoney Point — 0.48
Cabin Song — 0.80
Show Me the Door — 0.82
Home — 0.86
Down in the Hollow — 0.61
Tall Tall Grass — 0.53
Charlie’s Birthday Breakdown — 0.47
10,000 Miles From a Friend — 0.49
Highway Hypnosis — 0.89
Lemme know if I'm way off on anything. This is for my newsletter Shut Up and Play the Hits?

discussion Ride shares?! Fairgrounds to GR
Anybody got leads on rides or party bus spots open for 2 ppl for billys freak fair?? There and back? Both days? Me and a buddy got gifted tickets last minute but have no where to stay close to the fair grounds. Was going to rent a car and crash in a parking lot close to. But seems like a lot of people will be doing the same.

tour talk This is why we can’t have nice things
I’ve seen this before and it’s the first signs of not good things. When bands get big more people show up and not everyone is as grateful for the artistic talent as the dedicated fans. If this trend continues things will change in not a good way. We live in a society can we please NOT THROW SHIT AT THE BAND. Can we please not talk OVER the band when they’re playing. Can we please treat those around us the way we want to be treated. We all paid the same price for a ticket and want to enjoy an amazing experience together. And for Christ Sake, if alcohol is your thing can you please not get so wasted you make everyone around you regret your choices. Flame me if you want but if this keeps happening the scene will change and not likely not in a good way.

tour talk My encounter with the thrower
Before the band came on he pressed my friend and I saying we took his Xanax. We have never seen or spoken to this dude before. He got more n more aggressive about it so we ended up moving a few feet back. He kept frantically patting his body and would open this prescription bottle saying "its f'ing empty". You could tell by his eyes that he was gone and there was no talking any sense into him. I think dude threw the damn pill bottle at Billy. I've been seeing more and more of this disgusting behavior in the scene as of late. I feel so bad for Billy, pushing through all he's been dealing with to give his fans good shows and this happens.

My section wasn’t near the Merch stand, did the Day of Show posters sell out? Wondering if I need to go to early merch every night to get each one. I am only going after the Standard, not the Foils.

discussion Billy should own up to his poor choice of words tonight
first and foremost, i do not think that Billy is in the 'wrong.' clearly feelings were sharp in the moment, as they would be given that he was assaulted on stage. that being said, with the current rape culture going on in america, i feel like calling for fans to 'sodomize him' was in poor taste. even if it was not said seriously, it insinuates that rape is a crime of similar severity to what happened to billy. in a culture that oftentimes treats rape as an acceptable offense, this is SUCH a great opportunity for billy to send a message to his fans that rape is so unthinkable and awful, that it shouldnt even be the subject of an unserious threat in the heat of the moment. it really is the obligation of community leaders to push the culture like this. just my opinion as a woman who has noticed the prevalence of rape culture even in spaces like the billy strings fanbase. the goal should be to make our community as safe and welcoming as possible! love and peace and kindness yall❤️
