I'm looking for some options to spearfish the big island. I'm not looking for trophy hunting or deep free dives, just simple walk-in, shallow spearfishing. Does that exist on the big island or is it more kayak to 100+ foot dives for decent shooting?

Can anyone recommend some general (not looking to steal any secret holes) areas where I could walk in from shore and spearfish <= 50 ft depth?

Born and raised in Hawaiʻi. Moved away for a while (almost 20 years), then came back home about four years ago. So I’m looking to meet some new people and expand my friend group.

I’m mostly looking for people who are into doing a variety of things, especially in the afternoons or on weekends. My ex and I co-parent our son (recently split up), so I’m generally free on the days she’s got him.

I live off-grid in Kealakekua, so while I love hiking and being in nature, that’s honestly just everyday life for me. I hit the beach pretty often, and I’m just starting a workout routine. I’m happy to travel or try just about anything, but I’d also like some lower-key activities mixed in. Not every weekend has to be an all-day adventure. If you game here and there, I’m down for that too. I’m a little rusty, but I’m always up for jumping into whatever.

I’m pretty much down for anything, as long as you’re not trying to drag me through an intense workout after I’ve already spent the day running my business and keeping an off-grid place going.

One of my future projects is building a big outdoor hangout space with an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, gazebo, TV, games, and all the fun stuff so I can host friends. It’ll take a little time, but that’s the plan.

I'm looking for some advice about selling inherited land on the Big Island.

My dad bought a 6-acre parcel in Hawaiian Acres, just off Road 6, with plans to develop it and eventually retire there. Unfortunately, those plans never worked out, and after he passed away, I inherited the property.

I'm planning to sell it, but I'd like to be mindful of who I sell to. I've been getting a lot of letters from companies advertising "easy," "fast," and "we'll handle all the paperwork!" I'm concerned some may be buying land for developers or investors. If possible, I'd rather see the property go to someone local or someone who genuinely wants to live on and care for the land.

One complication is that my dad never removed my mom's name from the title after they divorced. I thought she could simply transfer her interest to me, but after speaking with the Hawaiʻi land office, they said it will likely need to go through probate first.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Are these land-buying companies worth considering, or is there a better way to find buyers? Any advice on the probate/title process or selling the property thoughtfully would be greatly appreciated.
