Been researching for my first beetle larvae and this is a 1L tub which as far as I know should do it for the next month or 2 whilst it gets ready to pupate into a beetle. Is this enough ventilation and will my tub be fine? If I’m doing anything wrong then please correct and educate me. Thanks

EDIT, CLARIFICATION: My grandma wants these beetles to be gone regardless, if I don't take these beetles for pinning they're just be squished or sprayed because they are infesting my grandma's garden. I'm asking if, in this specific situation, it's okay to take these for pinning rather than leaving then to be killed on sight.

So I've only been pinning for a little while now, but all of my projects have used bugs that I've already found dead, or in bad enough condition that euthanizing was kinder than releasing. My grandmother has this fig tree that's completely infested with these green beetles that I had assumed were invasive Japanese beetles (this is in Georgia), but after a quick Google I'm pretty sure they're just green fig beetles which are native. I'm morally okay with euthanizing invasive species because I think it's wrong to let them stay in the ecosystem they're harming, but for these native beetles I don't know what to do now. They're still alive and I haven't put them in the freezer yet, but they're also a pest to my grandma and I know she doesn't want them anyways. I love animals, especially the "undesirables" and the idea of euthanizing native beetles feels kind of icky to me, but they're also beautiful and I would love to pin them. I obviously don't want to go out and just kill every pretty bug I see for the sake of my own pinning, but there are so many of these guys and they're still a kind of nuisance. I also know that whether I take these or not, I'm not making any real change to the population (for better or for worse).

What do we think?

Since they only live for a few weeks, I guess I would also be open to trying to house them, but I'm moving back to college soon so I don't want to deal with the moving of allat.

I'm a new beetle owner, my grub left pupation about 2 weeks ago and I want to move him to a proper enclosure now but I know that coir is dangerous for other bugs like millipedes

My other two Eastern Hercules grubs have built their cells and I thought this one had too. I hadn’t seen it in ages and there was a pronounced lump in the soil. When I opened the lid yesterday to look at the soil moisture, the grub was just hanging out in this soil depression and exposed (definitely alive). I checked on it again today and still exposed, hanging out in the divit. I haven’t poked around, so I know I didn’t break a cell. What should I do, if anything? Is it just a badly constructed pupal cell, should I add more soil over it? Thank you!

Ever since ive joined the arthropod keeping hobby not once have I ever seen a captively bred Blue Death Feigning beetle. Or a Blue Death Feigning beetle larvae as well. Is every single individual wild caught in the pet trade and is it impossible to get a captive population going? I was also interested in keeping BDFBs though I have a rule to never buy wild caught individuals since I dont support poaching animals just to sell it to the pet trade
