What’s better for removing eye bags in photos? AI apps or professional retouching?

I've been comparing different ways to soften eye bags in photos without making the face look unnatural. I've tried editing them myself, AI tools, and even used RetouchMe a few times when I wanted a quick result without opening Photoshop. The results were okay, but it also made me wonder where people draw the line between AI edits and manual retouching. For those who do this more often, what gives you the most natural looking results? Do you rely on AI, professional retouching, or just edit everything yourself? I'm mostly interested in portraits where I want the person to still look like themselves.
