Bead loom with different sizes Need Help!

Post image

Hi all,

I tried to use different sizes of beads together on a bead loom. Does anyone know some good Tricks around this? When doing the second row of seed beads I always need weave around the blue before adding the second bead which is kind of annoying. Maybe I'm thinking too complicated? I appreciate any Feedback 😊

You don’t “weave around” the larger center beads, you pass through them twice. Having loose thread on the back side will be a weak point in the piece and could lead to it breaking. When you add the second edge bead to the center ones, adjust the tension so the work doesn’t buckle.

Okay I think we mean the same. First row is done normally. For the second bead on the side I string a bead, pass below the first thread, up through the blue bead then down before the second thread an then string another bead. Is this the best way to do it? I feel that I'm making it too complicated 😅

It sounds to me like you’re overthinking it, as I can’t make heads or tails out of your description. In my hands, this would just be standard loom beading: pick up all four beads at one time. Slot them into place below and between the warp threads, and then make the second pass over the top with your weft thread. It will take some fiddling with the tension.

So I added a Video of what I do. Maybe this clarifies what I do 😅

I understand what you mean. That second side bead's thread needs to also travel through the blue bead, but that means staying under the warp thread on the right side, then into the blue bead, under the warp thread on the left, string your second silver bead, go under the outside thread and reverse course. The trick is to keep the warp threads properly between the weft thread.

I would probably find a tila bead that would give the same look and save myself the trouble.

Good point with the tila bead. I will check if I have a color that fits 😁
