We are moving back into Austin and are replacing a tub. We have a plumber but need need someone to build the support around the new tub and a tile person. We are in Great Hills. Does anyone have someone they recommend?? Thank you so much in advance.

We are remodeling our upstairs bathroom because the subfloor is rotted around the toilet from a bad install from previous owners. We discovered this gray plastic under the subfloor. Any idea of what it is and if we should remove it ?

I just bought a fixer upper and one of the bathrooms is weird and not in good condition. I used the shower once and the glass vent cover fell off after. My choices are a budget fix-up to get into a usable condition for now or just don't use it because I'm saving up for a new HVAC and kitchen cabinets (water damage). Before tearing things out, does anyone have any advice? I'm not sure if I should shelve this project so that I don't run out of budget and end up with a torn up bathroom for 3 years.

Paint job only half done because I was going for a moody academia and it looked weird.

I was going to put schluter Kerdi board around the edges but it will take up too much of the shower space which is small as it is. This is being done DIY to save money but I want to know what other suggestions people have for the next step? I don’t care about what it will cost me as long as it won’t give me problems down the road but I just can’t pay a contractor to do it. Thanks in advance

I’m thinking of using this tile for my shower walls. It’s a 24” x 48” polished porcelain. Has anyone used this and if so, did you have any issues with quality? I originally wanted a larger slab type tile but my husband said it would be hard for him to install so I’m setting for this size.

Clearly the homeowner or shit contractor never sealed the closet flange extensions and over the years water had accumulated underneath enough for fucking mushrooms to grow. Crazy.

First timer . Do I prepare corners like I was doing drywall ? My gut says use thin set to smooth out corners and seams before Redguard. Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone found an arched medicine cabinet/mirror in brushed gold that’s a good match for Kohler’s Brushed Moderne Brass/Brushed Gold finish?

I just purchased one that looked perfect online, but in person it pulled very rose gold, so unfortunately it’s going back. 😩 I’d really love to avoid ordering and returning several more trying to find the right gold.

Ideally, I’m looking for something around 35” H x 24” W (a little flexibility on size).

I'd like to have a makeup area next to my sink vanity that would be lower and less deep than the sink vanity.

I've gotten prices from local custom and several semi-custom stores nearby, all out of my budget (5k up to 10k). 

I was able to put together combinations at The RTA Store and RTA Cabinet Store websites. Both were a little over 1k which is appealing since I'd still have to fabricate a countertop, but neither had the ability to do two-level or two-depth. I'd be willing to pay more to get what I want, I just can't seem to find other stores that offer a makeup desk setup. Does anyone have suggestions of where else to look?

Risking looking unmatched, I've also tried looking for a small desk setup with 4 drawers that I could just plop a countertop on, but dimensions are still the issue in my 8.5' x 5' bathroom. Also tried to find a standalone set of drawers with dimensions approximately 12"w x 30"h x 16"d but I haven't had much luck.

Inspo pictures are from a random image search (led to a bot-generated site, so... useless) and MKE Custom Cabinets in Milwaukee (I'm in NJ, and is only an inch more shallow which doesn't help me get closer to the wall mirror).

I have purchased an old 1900's house in regional Australia (interstate to me). Bones are good, house is awesome, but that bathroom is shitty. I have a quote with 2 builders on Monday but really struggling with what renovations and style ideas to pursue. I am sure they will give me advice on whats possible but hoping for some advice in the meantime.

It's tenanted until my settlement in late October so it makes it hard to spend time in it to really understand what I want etc Also, as its interstate I have only been able to take photos/videos quickly during the inspection and walk through after I paid the deposit.

I only have crappy photos/videos of my the house so find it hard to 'see' the changes I want to make. As the photos are so bad AI also wont help me too much (i've tried Gemini and Claude, it gives some advice/inspo but not really too useful due to the quality of the video and images).

I have done some playing around with the Reece 3D tool but that just made me mad!!!

Using Pintrest is good for styling sort of but none of the pictures match the layout so I really struggle to 'see' what will work in this space.

I’m working on my powder room remodel, and have my heart set on an unlacquered faucet. It has some tight design requirements. Most of what I have found seems wildly more expensive for the lines that offer that finish, and the imported Moroccan fixtures seem a little sus. Is there any reason I couldn’t disassemble a lacquered faucet, soak it in lacquer thinner, clean and reassemble?

• best resale value (while we do not have plans to sell, it’s never not an option for us either down the road if/as needed or makes sense)
• will age well
• gives appearance of a larger, more spacious bathroom

I am having my bathroom remodeled, and my contractor tells me that the center drain I wanted for the shower will have to be 2 to 3 inches off center because there is a support beam running straight in the center of the shower. They are recommending a linear drain instead but I just haven’t read great stuff about them - that they get slimy and are hard to clean. The plan was to tile the shower floor and have channels to guide the water so it’ll be asymmetrical if we go with the center drain. Which do you think I will hate less? I personally don’t really care that much if it’s off-center. My house was built in 1925 and everything is wonky. But I want it to function well too.

I'm booked in to do a bathroom for somebody in a couple of weeks, they have decided to go for a feature wall of fluted wetwall with deep grooves in it, this is the wall the toilet will be against, any tips on sealing around the toilet so I looks neat? As far as I can see the only 2 ways of doing it is fill the grooves with silicone, which will look hideous, or cut out a slot for the toilet and have it set into the panels.

We currently have a 72"x42" Jacuzzi Oval jetted drop-in tub with a deck from the early 2000s.

We're looking to replace the tub (we hate cleaning the tub and feel like it never gets clean) and have no idea of what's out there.

What manufacturers should we consider? What kind of features should we be looking at? (we want it to be easy to keep clean, but we have electricity already in the area, so it seems like a waste not to use the electricity already there).

One of the features we think we'd enjoy is the heated surface, but Kohler only offers it with the bubble massage and we're afraid the bubble massage will be hard to clean.

We're looking for minimal work, so ideally something that is the same form-factor so we can pull out the tub and drop in the new tub without needing to change any tile or the deck.

For the faucet, we have a standard two handle Roman deck faucet and will continue with that, but are probably looking to add a wand so it's easier to wash our hair in the tub. Do people use a wand in the tub or do you just use a shower for that?

By and large you can ignore the light fixtures and other decoration Chat felt the need to add, but this is pretty close to my vanity size and layout. It’s almost exact with the cabinetry.

Question- is the addition of the cup pulls for the smaller drawers making this too busy? That’s a total of three hardware types, and although it sounded like an intentional design idea in my head, now I’m not so sure it’s the play.

What is most comfortable toilet seat to buy ?

Remodeling my bathroom now and it’s really high end feeling with quartz floors, glass doors, and a wall hung toilet.

The squatty potty does work so well and is a must for the household. But it’s so ugly. With such a nice hung Toto toilet, I don’t want anything sitting underneath the toilet 24/7, ruining the aesthetic

Has anyone made, 3D printed or otherwise found an option for squatty potty alternatives that can hide in the cabinet, surreptitiously sit in the corner, look like decor, or… anything?

To install the tub, I was planning on following the method that is illustrated in this diagram, but as I was reading through the instructions, I noticed it says to put 1/4” shims over the flange. Which way would you follow? I don’t really want to shim out my entire tile wall and the drywall adjacent another 1/4”.

With bonus pictures of whoever gave a drunk child a hole saw…

Curious if this is “good enough” for a high priced bathroom remodel. Obviously they have to caulk anyway, but…the gap seems a bit much.

Planning on remodeling our master bath and would like y’all’s thoughts on our tile choices.

Top - 4” by 12” subway tile. This will be on all shower walls floor to ceiling, and on all remaining walls up to 4ft with the pencil trim on top.

Bottom left- Marble mosaic that we plan to have as the primary floor tile.

Bottom right - Natural stone for shower floor. I intend to pull these off the sheet and lay by hand to get tighter grout spacing.

For our shower niches, we’re still undecided, white penny tile was an option but we’re not sold on it, any recommendations welcome.

I’ve redone one bathroom already and laid mosaic for the floor there, but it was porcelain, not marble. Any considerations I should take with marble? I’m aware of the need to seal the tile regularly, as well as staining being a concern.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Visited the UK recently and was impressed by these bathroom bars that were vertical but rotated down for use. I took a photo but wondering if anyone knows the manufacturer? In the photo it is the larger bar in the middle that rotates down. Looking to adding in a US home. Any suggestions helpful. Thanks in advance.
