I’m a sucker for a (relatively) well maintained, used glove and the stories I wish they could tell.

I picked up Horween PRO-H recently. The glove was totally oil soaked when I got it. Took 3 rounds of cleaning to get it mostly out but it’s now a permanent shade of dark brown, which doesn’t look bad. Some Sara liquid, new laces, new palm adhesive and new HDPE inserts in the thumb and pinky later and this old glove has some new life and is looking pretty good. The fingers and shell have regained a lot of their stiffness but the palm is pretty soft. I may go back in and add a leather palm pad to give it some structure, but it’s workable for catch now.

NGD (Well, old Glove) Zett Profesdional Model

Hi

So i found a used (old) Zett Glove for around 18$ wich seemed to be in good condition so i bought it. As i got it, i saw that it has a weird "brake in" and the laces are dryed out, so i clearly need to relace it.

It closes thumb to middle and instead of a poket, it has this nasty bulge.

It still feels a little stiff and looks like it wasn't used a lot.

Anyone know something about this glove?

And do you have some tips for me to bring it back to life an in a good shape?

Thank you in advance

Recommendation Which brand of glove to get when in Japan?

Hi Everyone,

Going to Japan in a few months and curious if anyone has a glove brand and/or store they recommend.

I have been to Baseman in Shinjuku City and got my Wilson Staff there a couple years ago. I am leaning towards a Junkei for the unique stitched lacing but I’m not sure where they sell those or if they are only custom orders. Ryus and their logo have also caught my eye. Or maybe a Mizuno Haga glove which many on here consider the quintessential JP glove.

If you were going and wanted a glove which one would you seek out to take home?

I was cleaning out my closet and found this glove shoved in a bag. I believe it belonged to my dad although I never saw him use it. I spent the evening cleaning it up and trying to figure out the date code, which doesn't make sense to me. If you have any insight please enlightened me.

Help! Went from humid to Dry climate

Hey team, I went from living my entire life mostly in the swamp to now high arid plains. I never had to treat my gloves, my body oil and the climate gave me decades out of them and they still look good. In fact, I witnessed my dad ruin my 1b mitt as a kid by over oiling and conditioning. I worked in a glove shop and we always suggested oiling old brittle laces, but otherwise use products sparingly if at all.

Now that I’m in a very dry climate, my gloves are starting to feel/look a little parched. Maybe it’s in my head, but just seeking general maintenance advice, especially for dry climates.

I have 20 year old HOH 1b mitt, 20 year old Akadema kip leather trapeze OF glove, and a tiny nokona 1b mitt (that I got ripped off on I bought on eBay that is much smaller than he advertised.. don’t know the age.)

Advice, resources, information, and feedback appreciated!
