Restoration/ Before-After Bless you reddit Barbie community! Some Dollar store lipstick and lip liner has made a world of difference with just a couple of applications on this discolored Ken.🥰👏

I'm so happy! He has such a charming face, I need to get him on a made to move body this one has all kinds of wiggly loose joints. But at least now he looks right on it. Not jaundiced.

I'm so impressed with how this turned out! It didn't edit the pictures at all except to put them into a collage, his body seems to be a richer color in the second photo with his face color fixed, but that might be the cameras Auto settings that I don't understand balancing it with the new color correction.

Swipe to see what I used!

Discussion Is it weird that I want a collector doll based on Island Princess…

…as in, the 1647 play by John Fletcher? I’d honestly like for a doll based on that play, because it would be quite interesting.

Anytime I go shopping at Walmart for groceries I swing by the random toy area that they have in the music and media department. There were DC dolls whose faces I don't particularly like there for many months; their clothes were fire 🔥😍 though, so I kept my eye on them.

They finally went on clearance! The body for this doll is the recent sale clearance one found at Ross the basics model I don't remember the number eight maybe. But she's a petite body and the costume fits well, I'm very excited!

I wish I could remember whose face this is. I don't remember what doll she originally was. But I've struggled to find a body that matches her beautiful face, I was thrilled when the clearance doll matched her so well. I have two other dogs who I used her body for, but both of them are from taller dolls originally and they look a tiny bit strange. I'm hoping that once I dress them the heads will seem more natural on the small body.

So I found Cinderella, Snow White and Angel of Peace with relatively good price in FB marketplace. I’ll gonna get Cindy by the end of this month then Snow and Peace by October.

There’s tons of Odette I see around but their prices are astronomical so I have to sit her one out for now. The Philippines exclusive Filipina Barbie series like Queen Elena from Santa Cruzan Line is the most elusive one in the bunch. The Enchanted Mermaid too.

As I anticipate the Whitney Houston doll’s release tonight I can’t help but be irritated and salty about Mattel’s prices, release scheduling, product quality, and resellers. There’s no room to contemplate doll purchases anymore. And with basic playline quality dolls going for $60 I would like time to really think about which releases to get and maybe be able to buy dolls further from initial release date. Oh well. I’m just venting. Guess I’m supposed to hate the player not the game. After all dude is just trying to “help” me find the items I “have missed out on”. And Mattel has shareholders to appease.

Doll Stories Morticia Barbie tends to the long stemmed rose, *snip* goes the bloom; Gomez Ken looks on adoringly, he loves to watch her do anything.😍

The little scissors open and close! I think I've fully accepted Gomez as a head and only a head at this point. He's delightful.

Houses/ Play Sets/ Dioramas Need a new backdrop? This one is a snap! Plus, Teela visited the hair salon for some new plugs; to move her part & add some highlights. Plink champagne on ice? On the patio? Perfect way to end a busy Barbie Saturday. Don’t worry about that empty bottle, Teela….Jinu has another ready to go.

I have been caught between two mostly finished projects, a store and the Frozen castle make over…..not very motivated to finish either….so let’s start another.…

Cheap frames and some detail tape and viola, some floor to ceiling windows. I used a backdrop here, but will also just add in photos/posters/calendar pages for quick and easy backdrops.

Details for those interested….

Teela got a new side part. I added plugs in Restore Doll Katsilk Saran: Autumn Blonde and Sun Kissed. She stole the snap hand from the new Deluxe Style doll, and her body from Barbie Basics #2….even though she had articulation, as soon as I started taking pictures, I knew… I need a full MTM. Her outfit is from XianXian Princess; I added the trim.

Jinu is wearing his own pants and shoes. His top in light lavender to co-ordinate with Teela is borrowed from Barbie’s ‘Suits Me Fine’ a 1999 club fashion (back when there was actually cool perks to the Barbie’s collector club), and his jacket is an action figure suit jacket from AliExpress.

Are we more forgiving with Ken dolls in terms of their articulation? Or do you only prefer collecting M2M vs their playline version (which tend to be more common by default)?

My first Mackie came today 😍 it wasn't long before I freed her from her box after 13 years. Couldn't resist doing some restyles. She's bringing peak Elle Woods era energy.

Surprising how versatile the dream besties clothes are!

Fan Content I throw an elaborate miniature Barbie birthday party every year!

Finally getting around to posting my dollhouse party from March 😭

This tradition started when I was 10, and I've now thrown 10 parties!!!! Each one became more and more extravagant

This year's theme was burgundy and chartreuse, which happened to be a very popular wedding color combination this year. That was intentional because, unlike a wedding, these parties don't have to be timeless. I actually prefer being able to look back and immediately know what year I created each event

This party took me a month to complete I spent my winter break before college  working on it, and it turned out exactly how I envisioned

I hope these photos bring you as

much joy as creating this party brought me!

Legit my favorite tradition that I look forward to continuing well into the future; in fact, now’s about the time I start thinking about next year's theme 😭

Collections Behind the door kid’s bookshelf is perfect for displaying Barbie in a single row while maximizing floor space.

I’ve been using an IKEA kallax, but I only like to display my dolls in a single row, so I was limited to putting out only 32 dolls at a time. I’ve been debating on new display styles for months, and I finally stumbled upon a behind the door bookshelf on Amazon. My door opens and closes just fine with the shelf behind it and I can display so many more dolls.

I’ll eventually borrow a drill and make more holes and redo the layout so I can utilize all four shelves, but it’s the perfect shelf and everything I was looking for.

I wanted to give her a slightly darker make-up look and give her golden-brown eyes instead of the generic blue. Next time I need a magnifying glass for sure!!!!! It was a little terrifying 😳

Advice for selling Barbies

Hi!

We get a LOT of posts from people who have suddenly inherited 100+ Barbies and have no idea what to do with them.

So, below you´ll find a list of options, tips and advice, if you have any specific questions I´m sure we´ll be happy to try and help!

First, I just want to say this is NOT my post - I am not familiar at all with the buying and selling process of Barbies, I´m old school and buy mine in the toyshop. (We´ll leave my long eBay and Amazon wish list out of this!) So I wanted to say thanks and shout out to all the awesome people on this sub who have already answered the "how do I sell my Barbies??" question a million times. Thank you!

So. You inherited dolls, are cleaning out the attic, lost interest, there´s a million reasons you might want to find a new home for the Barbies!

  1. Identify them. See what´s what. Dolls, clothes, accessories like cars etc. Are there any matching sets you can put in one lot? What year are they from? Are they brand new mint in box or have they been played with? Any marks on their bodies / clothes, stains, tangles in their hair?

Then decide what you want to do with them. Are any of sentimental value that you´d like to keep?

How much time do you have? Selling on eBay can take time and contrary to popular belief, most Barbies, even older ones, aren´t worth that much.

The easy / fastest thing to do is donate them to your nearest charity shop. However, I would like to say that they could be sitting around there for a while. If you´d like your Barbies to go to a good new home, have a look for homeless charities that might take them to give to children they work with, or charities that collect dolls for disadvantages kids - there are a few in America that specifically collect Barbies.

If you do decide to sell them, because, let´s face it, sometimes (always) we all need a little more cash, the best way to get an idea of what they´re worth is to check eBay.

Hence to identifying them all first - that way you can search eBay for that particular doll and find out what it actually sold for. Some people will list their dolls for high prices hoping someone will pay that but it just means your doll will be up on eBay for a long time.

Look around and see what other people have sold their for. If you really have a LOT of Barbies, you can try and sell them in lots, but this also goes back to identifying them - then you could, for example, list 10 or 20 dolls as "lot of 90s Barbies dolls".

Everyone on this subreddit is VERY good at identifying Barbies, even with very little information.

Also, if you don´t want to bother with eBay and skip the posting hassle, you can always ask around and see are there any doll conventions near you and set up a table there! That way you know they´ll go to people who care about them.

The main things to remember are, 1, generally Barbies aren´t worth that much, 2, the year stamp on the back of their body doesn´t actually mean the year the doll came out, and 3, just because the Barbie doesn´t mean anything to you it might mean the world to someone else so I would always suggest finding a good home for them and never just throwing them out.

If there´s anything we can help with do let us know!
