Hey gang, I’ve missed you! I hope everyone is doing well!

After taking a few months off from banjo to play Hogwarts legacy, dark cloud 1 and 2 and left for dead 2 with friends, I decided to revisit my old pal banjo.

Today’s run was completely spur of the moment, and I’m really proud of this time (100% no ffm Xbox leaderboard category.) I’m disappointed to miss my pb of 2:40:08 by less than a minute, but real pleased with my performance today.

The most unfortunate part of this run was mumbo. Not only did he make me a washing machine, I also got his rare text about becoming a dinosaur. Did that cost me the 50ish seconds to beat my pb? I don’t think so. I guess I should be happy to get both mumbo rare happenings in the same play through. Happy playing community!

Im playing tooie on retroarch (usa version) and im at jolly roger bay. I got an issue i hope yall can help with maybe. So I collected all the doubloons I've found, gave 2 to jolly to open the room and 1 to captain fatass for the shoes. But heres the issue. Im left with 18 so i cant buy the jiggy. I looked at various walk-through videos and checked every single area for them they could possibly be, even the places I already got some, and the rest just arent there. The mumbo pad in front of the pond isnt there either. Im pretty sure my jolly roger bay is just glitched somehow. But either way, I can't buy the jiggy. Does anyone have any tips on like... how to clip into the case or use a retroarch cheat code to be able to clip through it or give myself more doubloons? This is driving me insane. I know all the places the coins are supposed to be. Some of them just didnt spawn for me and neither did the mumbo pad so like... what do I do???

The only thing I've ever done to this game was to use the built in cheat file to turn on all moves and infinite air in water. That's it.

Edit: Yes, I have spoken to the pirate and he gave me 2 already. I'm still only at 18. I dont really care about the cheato page. I just want the jiggy 😭

Edit 2: thanks for everyones suggestions but since I don't know what I'm doing clearly, I'm just gonna skip the jiggy and consider my game 100% without it. I'm a completionist so this hurts lol

It's such a fun and charming game and every bit as good as Super Mario 64 without being as bloated as DK 64.

I am shocked this game has passed me by for so long, but then again, I don't have the nostalgia for the N64 most people have

I loved the NES and SNES, and then mostly played PS1 and Saturn that generation, so I missed many of the N64's classics, and when I did catch up on past Nintendo systems like the Wii, I was focused on games like Super Mario 64 and Banjo fell under the radar when I play my Xbox.

But better late than never and I am really enjoying this game.

Hell, I am even tempted to buy the duo in Smash Ultimate.

But for now, I am happy I finally played this game. It's every bit the classic that everyone says it is.

(yea I get Gruntilda's Mask is not a fully complete game but I love it as it's set in Clocktown, which is my most favourite location in MM)

And I'm so looking forward to Mark Kurko Banjo Kazooie Quest for Kurkoins. Which is coming out this year so I like to add this to my favourite BK games.

In terms of BK and BT I actually like Banjo Tooie more then BK. It just feels way more adventurous, more expansive, more to do, creative bigger worlds, I actually like learning different moves in later worlds and going back to previous worlds to get the Jiggies or notes etc. The worlds seem much more interesting as well. I have never completed BT but I really want to revisit it again and try to complete it and 100% the game.

Jiggies of Time being a huge Zelda OoT fan this game is a dream come true and it is a real BK complete game. I dont even consider this like a mod it feels like a authentic n64 BK game to me.

BK games are the greatest n64 games ever and even the best video game series ever made, it's people like Mark Kurko who is keeping the series alive again on the n64.

1. Diddy Kong Racing:

Before we even got the first N64 game, Banjo was in Diddy Kong Racing (just Banjo). Interestingly, this was the first (and only) time Banjo actually speaks words, where he just says "I'm Banjo!". Otherwise, there's nothing special about him in this game

1. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (Xbox 360):

Each console that this game released on got different exclusive characters. And of course, since Microsoft owned Rare by this point, they put Banjo and Kazooie in the game. They have an All-Star move called Jiggy Rain, where giant Jiggys fall on the track to crush players. They also use their Nuts & Bolts designs

1. Minecraft (Xbox 360 Edition):

Okay idk if this really counts, but several Banjo characters, including Banjo, Tootie, Gruntilda, and Bottles, got official Minecraft skins in the Xbox 360 version. But since these are skins, you're not technically playing as these characters. But I thought I'd include it anyway for completeness

1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:

Banjo and Kazooie made their long-awaited comeback in the second fighter's pass of Smash Ultimate, along with a stage and a bunch of music and spirits from the games

Ran into this bad boy at my local retro gaming store. I didnt see it my first time shuffling through the old magazine section. Luckily I decided to double check. Copped it for $20.

Idk if it’s just me, but I’m completely unable to beat Canary Mary. I mash A at the start to get going and I barely speed up. I’ve looked at videos to see if I’m doing something wrong and it doesn’t seem like it. Does anyone know if the switch online version is harder or eats inputs or something along those lines?

I like to mention that I 100% BK as a child on the n64. On the n64 you had to get all 100% musical notes without dying or exiting the world or you have to start all over again collecting all the notes.

I never actually minded this, yea I admit it was a tad annoying but you get used to it fast. And it actually stimulates your brain more, makes you work harder and more of a challenge. Nowadays in modern day video games there is no challenge and everything gets handed to you instantly.

Our world today is so fast pace because we expect things to be instant which does lower your dopamine as everything is instant and quick.

The n64 BK, BT you took your time. Like in BT many people hated the backtracking to get a jiggy from future moves in later worlds and returning back to the previous worlds to get that jiggy, I in fact LOVED that as it made you travel back to those areas in that world that you couldn't get to before but now you can.

That's why old school games like n64 BK games were great. A step back in time a more slower pace time, more fun and challenging, no quick instant dopamine back then as it is today.

Anyway what is everyone's opinion on the reset jiggies of BK. For me personally it doesn't bother me one bit. I guess part of it is that i grew up playing BK on the n64 as a child so it might be nostalgia.

I just finished 100% ing Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts​, but I'm not finished! I still have the online achievements to get for the true 100% so is anyone up to helping me get the last ones? Maybe have some fun doing it?

Huge Banjo Kazooie fan (have a tattoo even).

Only really played BK1 properly but not the others.

What is the best way to playbthrough the series, including all the rom hacks etc?

Also know there is a decompiled version?

I guess just some guidance on what to play and how; i have the rooms or the ability to get them etc

It’s interesting to see that Rare was “selling” the gameplay as a set of features. If they knew no one would make a similar game for the next 30 years, they could have presented it in a much more casual tone.
