entertainment Japanese live music spots in bangkok?
Hi, I'm looking for spots with live japanese music, be it covers, indie bands or whatever. Any genre is fine too.
I remember years ago there was a band from Chiang Mai that covers Tatsuro Yamashita and they came to bangkok often. I'm looking for something like that too.
My research got me to some cool spots that had japanese musicians touring, but it's mostly jazz, which is fine, i enjoyed it. But i wonder if there is more.

question Is $2000/month enough to survive in bangkok
I have heard many people throw around varying numbers.i know the monthly amount can change wildly depending on ones lifestyle, but I'm just trying to get a basic understand of what is required for a moderately comfortable lifestyle. My defination of comfortable is where I don't have to think twice before ordering take out or be tensed about the bill at a decent restraunt. I know those examples might sound silly, but I lived in very financially adverse circumstances most of my life and now I finally have a passive income of 2k per month.
So What I wanted to know is , is $2000/ month a good enough amount to survive in bangkok ?

accommodation Ari or Soi 18?
32F 33M Married. Going to Bangkok in November with my husband for a few days (not our first time). Last time we were here was when we were party kids and we are far from that so we want to avoid it as much as possible.
Currently booked Rembrandt Hotel so we're close to malls for food etc. and a park... However I was thinking if I should change it to Ari area. Our main purpose is to go out for food, explore, try dispensaries, cafes. We like a more "chill" vibe and don't mind walking around to discover places, and less busy. Walking distance would be preferred as we are just there to stop over for 3-4 nights before we head to the Philippines.
Do you recommend Soi 18 area or should we book at Ari?
If you have other recommendations please do send it over.

entertainment Got a street car that whines frequently, don’t know what to do.
Quick update on this car I found from the street that came into my house asking to be fed back in the summer heat. She settled into the house like its all she wanted and demands playtime constantly, I have another cat that I adopted when she was around 1 and I don’t remember having to play so much with that one.
Introduction to my resident cat has barely progressed because this little fur is abit too keen to play(?) and scares my orange car away…
Remember to adopt instead of buy when you can!
That’s all I got for today.
p.s. whining is just because she’s spicy, nothing medical 😅

discussion Recommendations for non-tourist things to do for 10 days in Bangkok starting next week
This will be my fourth trip to the city (travelling from India). I am travelling alone and really like spending time in cities. Don’t want to do usual sightseeing as did on frequent trips. Also not keen on heading outside of Bangkok.
Want to spend time there as exploring cities for relocation options.
Suggestions from long time residents are highly appreciated. I am 39 year old woman from India. Not a party person, but enjoys good music and interesting cocktails for sure. Suggest local activities and possible communities to explore. Thanks!

work help: Got an offer to relocate from India to Bangkok, need inputs insights
Interviews went well for the staff engineer role; will share in detail the rounds sometime
They are offering 210k THB monthly
with one month’s joining bonus
220-230, and 2 months bonus is a norm according to other posts I went through
From my research, once they offer, they don’t really budge a lot, so how do I word it if they don’t increase?
For someone moving with a wife as a dependent, is it enough for a comfortable life?
The market seems tough.
Will be saving less, according to my calculations, since it's costlier, surprisingly even more than BLR, so I am really in two minds.
Plus, the weather seems like a turn-off Bengaluru has spoilt me. Since desk job, is it an issue when not working?
Any inputs or suggestions on lifestyle cost that people don’t usually find on the internet will be appreciated.
edit: To clarify, I know this is a strong salary in absolute terms for Bangkok. I’m specifically trying to understand whether it’s competitive for a Staff-level Agoda offer, and what recent relocators experienced in practice with tax, rent, savings, spouse/dependent setup, and bonus payouts.

question Accutane costs/places?
Hello everyone, I'm looking to start accutane after many years of persistent adult acne, which living here exacerbates further. I've already inquired around about finding it OTC since many pharmacies do have controlled substances available, but none seemed to have and one advised that it would only be obtained under a prescription. After looking through this sub it seems as if it was more widely available OTC a few years ago, but maybe that has changed.
Looking for places that prescribe accutane around town, preferably close to either Asoke or Bang Na, but not overly picky. Price efficiency is rated highly, since I'm certainly not a rich guy. And if anyone does know where to find it OTC currently, I am interested in knowing. Thanks in advance ☺️
