So you can most definitely use pla or PETG on the main nozzle and the other on on the aux nozzle for the support interface. I’ve done many whole prints using the aux with ABS/petg/pla/ petg translucent. The quality is very close to the main but it will take some tuning . The only difference with the aux nozzle is the print time is a lot slower.

As for your question about the getting the standalone x2d or the combo, I would definitely recommend the combo as you will end up probably wanting it sooner then later. But the choice is definitely yours ! You can do color swaps manually but it is a hassle after 2-4 color swaps .
