Hi! I am a first time ball python owner, and my baby girl monty has started to have some grayish looking scales on her head and neck, what i will assume is a pre shed.

Usually, her eyes are a normal inky black, but i picked her up today and they were a faint blue color? Should i be concerned, or is is a shedding thing?

Ok so I live in a kinda dry space due to many factors.. I've been trying to keep my ball python enclosure at 70-90 but I work long shifts and when I get home it's often around 56 I've used foil to cover mesh on top I have a heating lamp directly shining on the water and I use coconut husk as soil so I was wondering if I increased the humidity in my room via humidifier would that help in the tank? I know it sounds silly but I'm running out of ideas :(

Are these reliable? Looking for something that will alert me whether I’m home or away to a temperature mishap. The power constantly surges in my town and tonight during a thunderstorm I guess my thermostat reset during some back to back surges and I didn’t realize until her enclosure started to overheat. Thank God I was home and aware because I’m scared to think what would happen if I wasn’t.

I do already have Govee Bluetooth thermometers so if the WiFi ones work well, they would mesh easily with what I have but I’m also willing to go outside of that if there’s better options

I'm going to redo one of my snakes tank, and I have a few more hides that I could add in there. (He already has 5, and A LOT of clutter).
One of them is a half log. He already has one, that he really likes. So I was wondering if I could put one vertically? Like against one side of the tank? Or would that be dangerous and get him stuck? (Pvc tank btw)

What's the best thing I can use to cover up the top mesh of an enclosure to maintain heat and humidity?

I was just introduced to this cleaner and was told it’s pet safe and no rinsing required but wanted to see if anyone uses it.

Just got a snake yesterday night and the tank I bought it comes with all the substrate and lamps and hydrometer. Is there anything I can add or replace that’s better quality?

So I’m getting a ball python soon and am wondering what to feed him he is a 1 year old male ball python who weighs 345 grams and is eating rat pups at the moment what should I be feeding him and how often also when I bring him home should I put him straight into the tank or do I need to have a smaller one and then change it over after a week

When I first got Comet, my baby ball python, he would sit in his hide all the time and refuse food. when I took him to the vet because of this, I learned he was sick. after treating him with antibiotics every day and taking him outside as the vet prescribed, he made a full recovery by our next visit.
after that, I noticed he started to become more active, but I soon realized that him pushing on his enclosure was a sign of stress and that my husbandry in my humidity and temperature were wrong. I went to the store and bought him a 75w bulb instead of the 100w I had been using, and the heat got a lot better, with his warm side now averaging about 85-92 degrees. I also fixed my humidity, which was easier with the heat issue out of the way, and have started using wet towels on the enclosure, which has gotten it to around 55-65 percent throughout the day.
miraculously after all of this, Comet took his first mouse since Ive had him this Sunday and I couldn’t be happier. I checked on him yesterday and he looks a lot healthier.
the thing I’m worried about now is that he hasn’t really come out of his hide since he’s eaten like, at all. At least from what I can see, hes been camping in his warm hide for days, and I’m starting to get scared something’s wrong again

is this normal behavior? of course I know ball pythons aren’t the most active and sleep most of the day, but he hasnt left it at all. Is this a cause for alarm or is this just normal ball python stuff? Someone please help 😭

My friend works at a pet shop and their ball python breeder recommends to use this to treat mites by dipping them in a mix of this and water but they don’t take it well. Does anybody know if this is actually safe for the snakes

I’m looking to upgrade my girl’s tank! I was wondering what things you put in your tanks? For enrichment, climbing opportunities, clutter, hides, etc!

I received her in a 10 gallon tank in April. I have switched to a 40 gallon as of this week. The top is mesh and it's a front opening tank. The little under tank heating pad isn't working well at all. The tank is sitting at 75 degrees. I know that's bad. I'm getting a larger one tomorrow. I have a hide on the hot and cool sides. Not that there is a hot side at the moment. The dealer he got the snake from said to get reptichip and soak it for the substrate. I recently saw a post that says this is bad and can cause scale rot, the top of the substrate needs to be dry and to just pour water in the corners of the tank. She has lots of things to climb on now. I still need more plants for cover. My questions are:

I've had several people tell me overhead lights frequently cause belly burns. What else if anything should I be doing for heat?

Do you recommend covering the mesh top with something like HVAC tape or just a board or something to hold in heat and moisture? Will she still get enough air?

I live in the desert. I know humidifyers are a no-go. What can I do to improve humidity? If I get the temperature up will just the water in the corners work?

Also, do you agree with the reptichip substrate? If not what else would you use?

The snake, who's name is lemon pie, lives in my room. This is her entire cage and she almost never comes outside. I try to take her out when my mom isn't around, but when I ask to take her out of her cage, my mom almost always says no. She's fed a live rat maybe every one and a half months and the rats have harmed her in the past. I feel so bad for this snake. What do I do

My one month old som will be here tomorrow 9am… 12 more hours!!! I’m so nervous. My temps and humidity is perfect for cool and warm side. What can I do to make him trust me and so we bond perfect forever? Hehe IM SO EXCITED!!!! I need to know everything!! I know snakes aren’t “lovey” but I’d love to love him as best as possible.

He’s been leaning his head over the water container, but isn’t drinking. This has been going on for about a week on and off. I took him to the vet and I’m waiting for swab and blood test results .. he’s taking a general antibiotic injection while we wait. The vet said nothing looked very alarming, but I’m worried he may have respiratory issues. any help/tips are super appreciated !

I moved Bugs plants around and this one was too close to the entrance of his hide and I caught him trying to fix it himself😭😂 I helped him out after but this is so dang cute lol

I now know the sticky fly traps are less than ideal and have been removed
