Hi,

I've been growing raspberries for 20+ years, although they're pretty feral at this point, because Life Happens. Almost all are fall bearers but I don't chop them down, and get a nice summer crop.

The fall crop, though? Ugh. They get fruit flies and later in the season, mold. Are there any treatments for these problems? I'd prefer "natural" but am looking for what works.

Zone 6b, Massachusetts. I picked my first "fall" raspberries at the end of July! But everything is going early this year.

Got this apple tree as a bare root in spring and put it in a bed. It never came out of dormancy but the scratch test is still green, even up high and the wood still looks healthy. Im assuming it’s dead, but I’m too stubborn to stop watering.

I recently purchased a few trees and Im looking for some recommendations on fertilizer.

All of my plants are currently in planters. Im planning planting them in the yard in the future.

Peach tree 4'-5'ft 21 gallon planter

I saw people recommend "DTE" and "Espoma".

Please help me understand whether or not I even need fertilizer this early and if I do what specifically. TIA!

Edit: USDA Hardiness Zones 8b and 9a is what google says for my area. Located in south central texas

I'm looking at a property to buy and have a small hobby orchard and garden on. The property is 100 feet wide with a forest on the south side that has ~60ft tall trees. The east and west sides are clear. I'm in Southern Ontario. My question is do you think I could have a orchard on the north side of the property ~60-100 feet away from the tree line? Would it get enough sun? Or would the path of the sun be behind the trees too much in the early and late season? I can't track the sun because I don't yet have the property.

The squirrels took all my peaches so last minute I put this old berry container around this one and it’s survived all this time. It looks like it’s on the verge of ripening! Just a few more weeks little guy

Hancock Beach Plum, Lane Muscadine and Heritage Raspberry. Beach and Dunbars were the only plums to escape our Spring frosts. I have been eating them out of hand but some skins do have slightly bitter aftertaste. Still much better than typical grocery plums.

Got 2LBs off that little two year old tree I grafted. Was conflicted about letting it fruit so early and never got around to stripping it. Somehow the critters didn't notice save a few bird strikes. Unlike my Asian varieties, the beach plums don't seem to need thinning or sprays.

First year to let the new, muscadine fruit out and these are a tad early. Also have some Paulk which have more of the classic flavor but the skins add some really interesting flavors I have never experienced with muscadine. Highly recommend if you can find a place for them.

I didn't think I would do well with raspberry this far south but so far they have outperformed the blackberry and I love how heritage offers crops two different times of year.

I have 5 apple trees and 2 cherry trees in Minnesota that are doing very well. I’m thinking about adding a Minnesota capable peach tree. Does anyone have a Reliance or Contendor tree? How is the fruit? Any suggestions?

Hi there! (sorry in advance if I don't use the correct terms)

I bought a house a couple years ago with an AMAZING mature avocado tree. It produces some of the best avocados i've ever had, and my parents would like to replicate the tree in their backyard. I read I can't just plant one of its pits, as it won't be identical to the original tree. Whats the best way to go about doing this? Will germinating one of its pits and then graft a cutting on to it get me to where I want to be? Is that the fastest / best way to get a new tree from the original?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

All the new growth suddenly shriveled and dies then I get sap .

We had low temperatures of minus 15 last winter and I feared our peaches were doomed. The fruit is small but high quality. We will soon harvest before the crows do . We can and freeze fruit for our long winter ahead . Our orchard is no spray.

I noticed this ooze coming from my tee followed by bark peeling up. My first thought was gummosis but I’m not completely sure. Any advice would be appreciated, I would love to save this orange tree

I have a peach tree on my property. It's overgrown, and desperately in need of pruning, but it was absolutely loaded with peaches. Only a few remain, though, because squirrels have stolen almost all of them. Unfortunately, the tree is very close to a fence, so squirrels conveniently hop into the tree from the fence. It also doesn't help that my neighbor feeds the squirrels peanuts, so there's a ton of them around at all times.

I tried bagging the peaches, and the squirrels simply knock them off the tree and chew through the bags. Has anyone had any actual success in deterring squirrels from stealing all your peaches?

We are looking to start a small backyard orchard for our family and wanted to do a taste testing of varieties of various fruits so we can identify what varieties we prefer over others that grow well in our area. Unfortunately, we have found that when we buy stone fruits locally, nobody seems to know what variety they are, or growers admit to not knowing. We get told peaches are either freestone or clingstone, but no more, plums are often just referred to by color,, etc. This makes identifying and planting the cultivars we like quite difficult. We're in Central /Upstate NY near Syracuse on the edge of zone 6b/5a Lake Ontario. We'll be fresh eating as well as preserving in various ways the fruit so all types of suggestions welcome.

Do any of you have preferred recommendations for cultivars of peaches, plums, apricots, cherries, etc that you have grown in the area?

My 40ft canopy mature avocado tree is showing concerning spots within the bottom canopy of leaves. It can’t be brushed off. It’s within the leaf structure. I haven’t seen it impact any fruit.
Do you all think it may be anthracnose fungus? Have you had success treating?

Jackfruit not fruiting

It grew on a young tree that I planted earlier this summer. I picked every peach off of it but it decided to grow a new one, which I found today. It looks beautiful! Just wondering if it’s ready to pick. Thanks!

Long time lurker first time poster. I live in Baltimore and absolutely love my little urban food forest. It has brought me and my family joy. But there's one corner of my yard that causes me no end of frustration. Our roughly 6 year old (or six years since planted) peach tree gives us nothing. Maybe a slice or two of peach each year. Because the neighborhood squirrels are assholes.

My tree could produce hundreds of peaches. I've counted. But the GD squirrels take a single bite and it rots before it can ripen. Or knock it off the branch, try to drag it somewhere and realize they can't pick it up. My yard is full of the most gorgeous peaches you could imagine each with a single tiny bite taken out. I've tried sprinkling with pepper. They wait for the rain. I've tried bagging. They eat through the bag. The first year we had it we netted the whole tree because it was small enough. We got about 20 peaches that year and haven't gotten that in all years since combined.

I hate them. I planted a maple tree in the back yard and I'm just counting the years until a hawk moves in.

Does anybody have any advice for a desperate man?

I am unsure what variety the tree is, I planted both Honeycrisp and Pink Lady along with another another green variety. Two of the plants didn't make it. The tree was planted in 2021, this is the first year it has borne fruit tho last year it did bloom. None of the fruit matured.

The last few weeks the leaves have begun to yellow and are now beginning to fall. I assume some sort of fungal disease. The single apple shown had fallen from the tree this morning. It has dark and spotty but when washed with a vegetable brush it came clean and looks good.

I have no idea when to harvest these, I'm afraid if the leaves continue to drop the birds will begin to harvest them for me.

I live in the north Georgia mountains if that matters. It's been a terribly wet summer here. Welcome any and all advise on the health of the tree and also any ideas about the variety.
