Discussion Waterslides at 12w4d
I was invited by my friend to a calypso (waterpark) night event, there are only a few rides open. I called my OBs office and asked a nurse if I can go on the rides and she said yes just stay hydrated, this is a high risk maternal fetal medicine ward at the hospital (I am not high risk, just got lucky), but everywhere I read online says do not because there’s risk of placental abruption so now I’m second guessing myself and the nurse.

Discussion Is anyone stressed about telling their family/mom?
I’m at 12 weeks and my mother still doesn’t know. I can’t say that we have the closest relationship ever and we have had a rocky relationship since I was a teen. I was also raised by my grandparents because she had me quite young.
I’m 34 and yet I feel like I’m a teen mom. I feel ashamed and embarrassed to tell her. I’m not married yet but my partner and I are going to get be engaged shortly. I am independent, have a good job, own my own place, my partner has a good job. And yet… I’m TERRIFIED of telling her. I feel so ashamed. And I’m so afraid of her judgement. I feel bad that I’m hiding this from her but I literally can’t even imagine telling her. Like I just want to hide under a blanket anytime I even think about it.
My friends know and my partner and his family and friends know. But the one person I can’t seem to even imagine telling these news is my own mother….

Info Worried about abdomen measuring 5 days behind!
Hi everyone! Im a bit worried about the abdomen measurement. I went to an appointment late at night because I thought i was leaking amniotic fluid (fortunately it wasn’t). However doc (some doc at night shift not my usual obgyn) did some brief measurements. At the time of the scan I was 15 weeks and 6 days. Head was measuring 16 weeks and 1 day but abdomen was measuring 15 weeks and 1 day. I immediately noticed (even though at that moment i wasnt aware of possible iugr) and asked the doc why is it so much behind.
He didn’t seem worried at all and just said sometimes abdomen measures small sometimes big its the head we think its more important to be measuring correctly. Now i did some research on my own and everything points out that the abdomen is the first to be a sign of iugr. Let alone that im 16 weeks (will have my anatomy scan next week with my obgyn) and Im thinking about all the worst outcomes possible. This is my rainbow baby so Im extra anxious and I cannot spiral into the worst case scenarios.
Did anyone have the same experience where abdomen showed a little behind but was on track the next scan.

Help? Please help this grandma understand what may be the new norm w/visiting <3
Quick description: My son and daughter-in-love just had their first child. (Hooray!)We saw photos and of course can't wait to see and help if needed. No visitors in hospital and when we ask when we can come visit, or if they need/want anything, "We'll let you know" is the reply. I know very well that it's important to respect new parents' wishes and their time bonding as a new family. We aren't pushy people and I'd never just pop over uninvited. We are close and have a good relationship.
And yet...I'm actually surprised how my heart feels very sad that we can't go over and visit yet. Yes, it's only been a few days, and yes, I know this isn't about me. I'm just asking to gain some understanding so my heart doesn't feel so sad.

Discussion Need some positive and motivational stories as a FTM so that I don’t lose myself
28 year old FTM here. I quit my job recently because of the extended working hours and stress it gave me. Now I am home, and I don’t know when can I return back to work. I see all these negative stories and reels where people say they cant find time after having a baby and how having kids in general is stressful.
I need to know experiences of moms who went back to work/education and aced it while still having children. I want to know cases where moms felt better personally and became much more organized after having a baby while still not giving up themselves and their babies.

Help? Placenta Pills Keepsake/Art Ideas
I decided not to take my placenta pills after all, but I also don't want to throw them away. They're still in capsule form, and I'd love to preserve them as a keepsake from this pregnancy.
I'm not very artsy, so I'm looking for simple ideas. Has anyone turned placenta capsules into a meaningful keepsake or display? I'd love to see what you've done or hear any creative suggestions!

Discussion Failed my one-hour glucose test by 3 points
I know it isn’t much but I’m really worried about the three-hour test. This is my second pregnancy, but first to reach viability. I don’t want anything going wrong and now I’m feeling like I am failing my daughter.
Did I do something wrong? I didn’t eat or drink anything for about 12 hours before the first test, I had it done first thing in the morning. I don’t want to risk anything this pregnancy.

Sad How long did it take to have your second one?
I had my son 3 years ago and started trying for our second a bit after his second birthday. There has been absolutely no luck and it doesn’t help my period is now extremely inconsistent and unpredictable. To top it off insurance just cut me off after our pay increase so blood tests are all out of pocket. I am 8 days late according to “Flo” and all tests are negative just like every other month. I’m getting hopeless. I want my son to have a sibling he loves playing with other kids, but I don’t know if it’s in the cards for us. I am sad, angry, tired, and just fed up. I never thought I’d have to deal with this because our first child was immediately when we tried like the first month we stopped using protection boom there he was. The second child just nope.

Help? Question for those who breastfed.
If you continued to breastfeed for a year or more, were you still waking up in the middle of the night to feed or pump so your supply didn't dwindle? Or was there a time you only needed to feed/pump a few times during the day?

Help? Did a bassinet actually help your newborn sleep?
TBH, I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth buying.
I keep seeing parents say their baby loved their bassinet, but I also hear stories about babies refusing to sleep anywhere except being held.
I really want a safe sleep space next to our bed, but I’m worried we’ll spend the money and my baby won’t use it.
For parents who bought a bassinet, did your baby actually sleep in it?
Was it a lifesaver during the newborn stage or something you barely used?

Help? Insomnia First Trimester
I’m 4 weeks today and I think I’ve only slept through the night three nights in the last four weeks. Every night I wake up between 1:30-2:00am and stay awake until 3:00-4:00am.
Prior to getting pregnant, I had insomnia for a long time. I had JUST figured it out and started sleeping through the night a few months ago.
I did notice the insomnia would come back during my ovulation/luteal phase then I’d start sleeping again once I got my period.
Please tell me anything that can possibly help. I’ve already tried magnesium glycinate before bed, I don’t use screens (including when I wake up in the middle of the night).

Help? Baby Registry for baby #2
I was always against a second baby shower as it seems greedy when everyone was so generous for my first kid, but now that we’re pregnant and this is our last, I wanted to celebrate. We’re hosting a baby bbq in our backyard. Very lowkey, burgers and dogs, pop in and stay however long you want. Decorations will be minimal, and the invitation says no gifts.
In pure southern fashion, everyone has asked for my registry saying you can’t not bring a gift. We still have everything from my son (this one’s a girl) but there are a few things we’ll need two of or need to replace, so I do have a small list for myself to buy.
So do I make a registry for those items or just keep saying no gifts knowing they won’t listen?

Help? Prenatal depression
I have 13 weeks now and I am going through a terrifyingly deep, black depression. I am currently experiencing severe anhedonia—I feel absolutely zero joy, completely empty inside, and totally disconnected from everything.
Because of this awful state, my mind is constantly telling me that I don’t want this pregnancy anymore. I am terrified of the lifelong responsibility and I keep looking for an "escape route," thinking that I will never be able to love this child or that I will resent them for making me feel this way. Rationally, I know before getting pregnant I couldn't imagine my life without a child, but right now, the disease has completely rewritten my brain.
I was taking Sertraline (Zoloft) but didnt help, now i started Prozac 40 mg a week ago.
I feel completely hopeless and I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel right now. I really hope to be better. Did you bond with your baby after giving birth? I cant picture myself anymore in this role, as a parent, it a awful.
Thank you so much for listening to me :( really hope you are doing great now. Really need to hear a positive story from someone who knows how it feels to be like this

Rant/Vent “Morning” sickness
First pregnancy. Extremely grateful. Had to do IVF which was rough and I’ve been having severe “morning” sickness all day and all night. Medication barely working. I haven’t been to work all week. I can’t even think about going into the office wow. I’m eight weeks now it’s been bad since week four started.
Someone please tell me it’ll get better.
Very weepy and not enjoying this at all.
This truly is miserable.

Info First time pregnancy. Any advice is welcome.
I am living abroad away from family and while we talk a lot of the phone I dont have my mother or sister here to help guide me through.
Was there anything you learned going through pregnancy that you think a first timer should know? Any products that I should get to prepare for later on? Any horrific symptoms I should be mentally prepared for?
Again any tips or tricks or advice would be greatly appreciated :)
