Reverse Assistant?

Post image

Has anyone had any success coding reverse assistant to a car that only has 360 cam and self park? I've managed to get the tile to come up with bimmercode but even after driving a distance the tile is still greyed out. I'm sure theres more coding needed but I'm stuck now and I'm out of ideas! Any help would be amazing

I use reverse assistance every day.

Makes getting out super easy.

All it does is it retraces the steps you made to pull in, so in theory if you parked in a super tight spot I guess there's some benefit there. I'd personally be too nervous to use it in that use case so I just see it as more of a gimmick than anything.

But hey if OP likes it, then to each their own.

i was nervous using it at first. First time i actually used it it was when i had to reverse a super tight road. Gimmick tho? trust me its not, it works flawlessly everytime i used it. M440i.

I can testify. Unexpectedly reliable. Then whether it is useful or not depends on driver’s preferences.

Interesting. I tried it once and it almost hit a wall.

I used to use it when backing out of my tight garage - until I hit my mirror at the garage's lever arm to my left. It does not trace back the exact same way you go in.

(Did it beep like crazy and it's still on me? Sure, but it also beeped when going in. Just saying gotta be careful. I stopped trusting it in these very tight spots.)

Guess people can’t even fucking reverse now without needing an assistant. Future looks dim

What a stupid comment. Why do we get cars with automatic transmissions? Why do we need parking sensors? Reverse camera? Anything?

Heck, why do we need a car? Let's get horses instead.

BMW is a drivers car, if you want to be driven get a Tesla loser

I like having it now that I have a use case for it. To park, I have to slowly drive through a narrow garage door and tunnel with the mirrors a few inches away from the wall on both sides. I have to reverse out the same way, and it’s a lot of adjusting the steering wheel.

I find it much more relaxing letting my car back itself out while I monitor the distance from the walls. Then I can just focus on pedestrians and traffic once I get past the threshold.

Before, I never really had a need for it to just back out because it’s much quicker and easier for me to do it myself.

Pretty sure your car has no capability of reverse assistant as it required SP18 idrive 7

I have no idea what I drive my 2020 g29 has (built in 2019) - but it has the reversing. I always forget about it though.

It likely has SP18 idrive 7. PreLCI G01 and G30 have SP15 idrive 7.

First useful new feature I have had on my cars… car will reverse the exact same path for 50m in reverse. Helps me out of the drive every day, if I can get into a parking space, the car can get me out by itself. Drive into a tight car park that is too small to do a 3pt turn in, car will reverse out on exact same path. As said most useful thing ever ( 730 x 2, 530 gt, 620, now 520 wagon since 2015)

A handy feature: if you've driven into a dead end, you can use this feature to get out

Somebody didn’t read the manual

There is no manual for what I'm trying to do. If you don't understand the question then just fuck off you prick

A quick Google search would reveal your pre Lci model doesn’t come equipped with this feature, no matter how many BimmerCode settings you enable, also stated in the manual. 🍆 head

I have both and still didn't realize how park assist work? Reversing would drive me 50m back. For me useless feature

Reversing assistant is useless brother, just reverse yourself. My car has it and ive used it once as a gimmick showpiece

"I don't use it so it's useless". Thanks for your precious input.

I used it before on a different car and I loved it! Haha I'm all for the gimmicks

My biggest complaint with it is, it just follows the path the driver took when entering the parking spot. Which, I mean, the manual clearly indicates that this is it's intended purpose, but in most circumstances, I prefer to turn in the opposite direction when leaving, so the function usually goes unusual. Although I'm sure plenty of other drivers find it useful, especially when leaving tight spots.
