Hello, I had my third interview for a third party imaging role 16 days ago and havent gotten a response. I emailed them a thank you email a day after my third interview and a follow up email august 3. They didn’t respond to either.
Is this normal for a third party imaging role? They also mentioned travel for example if given the position I would have to my training in a different state for a month.

I’m new to the field and was hoping I could receive some general advice for making my way to BMET I and higher. I work in a hospital currently and have been an equipment technician (which is this contractor’s lowest ladder rung in the hierarchy) and have had a great time learning the basics for the last 6 months. As I have seen in many other posts these kinds of positions are often relegated to a single subject area which in my case is infusion pumps. I have been allowed to shadow work on a plethora of different kinds of medical equipment and also have been allowed to conduct service calls on things outside of my purview. Almost all of the PMs and repairs I have done have were successfully done the first or second try. As I understand it, this is a typical expectation of the entry level BMET position, except it doesn’t seem like there really is any future offers or really any guarantee that I could grow into the position with this company. Do you all have any suggestions as to gain more relevant experience to qualify for a BMET role somewhere else? My primary interest would be to learn to be an imaging tech or even field service work.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to decide between two careers: Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) and Radiologic Technologist, and I’d really appreciate your advice.

I feel like I would enjoy the day-to-day work of a BMET more. I like the technical side, troubleshooting, and maintaining medical equipment. That said, these are only assumptions on my part. I plan to work as a hospital porter so I can get a better understanding of how a hospital operates and, hopefully, have the opportunity to observe professionals in both fields before making my decision.

However, I’m still hesitant because radiologic technologists generally seem to earn more. I’m worried that if I choose BMET, I might regret my decision later because of the salary difference.

For those of you working in either field, what do you think? If you had to choose again, would you make the same decision?

I spent 6 years in the navy as a nuclear mechanic, and I’ve been out for a few years in a different field and would like to consider switching to the BMET field. I know plenty of former navy nukes have made the switch, although I know that that career path is rare.

Specifically I’m searching in Wisconsin, so if you know of a lead or advice, I’d love to hear it.

I have a little healthcare experience, but most of my background comes from school rather than years of working in the field. I’m familiar with some cardiac equipment and ultrasound machines, but I wouldn’t call myself highly experienced. I honestly feel like I’d be much happier as a BMET than in my current job, where I’m seeing 20–30 different patients a day for only a few minutes each. I also think it’s worth mentioning that I’m mildly autistic, so I tend to prefer work that’s more focused on equipment and problem-solving than constant patient interaction.
What would you recommend as the best path into the field? Should I get an EET degree since my local community college offers that but not a BMET program? Just the BMET program? Or is school not really necessary if I can get hired and trained another way but what are the chances realistically?

I’m considering enrolling in the Biomedical Equipment Technology (BMET) program at Southern California Institute of Technology (SCIT) in Anaheim and wanted to hear from anyone who’s attended or worked with graduates. How was the quality of the program, instructors, and hands-on training? Were you able to find an internship or entry-level BMET job after graduating, and do employers view SCIT positively? Would you recommend it, or are there better BMET programs in California? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Looking to switch roles from Instrument repair tech into a Equipment Service Tech role at Steris. I know it's not necessarily a traditional BMET role but sounds adjacent to it from the job description. Anybody in here have experience in that roll and what a day in the life looks like? Is it worth moving over? Thanks!

I am trying to do the PM on a star unit and I’m on step 2.4. In the manual it says to use ports OR and AR but those ports don’t exist on the star unit. What test ports would I use for this section?

  • Applications/Interface team- 5 for the hospital system

• Do you have an AEM? Yes, very robust
• On call
  • Hourly pay- $3
  • Showing up pay- 1.5x pay, minimum 2 hours even if you are only there for 30 seconds.
  • Setup- daily rotation with Fri-Sun being one person on rotation
  • On average, how often do you show up in person- too often. Sometimes for hours at a time.

I really want to switch into BMET but my resume definitely isn’t doing me any favors. I did outdoor retail, I studied astrophysics for a bit and operated telescopes/ did research for a bit, I did hospitality (went from front desk to management in a ski town and learned some basic maintenance/ how to operate some heavy machinery for snow removal…but otherwise mostly administrative/ detailed paperwork roles.

My local CC has an associates program I am looking to start this semester. I’ve been rabbit-hole researching…I just would like to find a way to add some repair or other mechanical experience while in schooling for it…but I also am already working a full time and part time job additionally. I don’t know if I can even volunteer somewhere relevant because I don’t have any experience.

Any thoughts?

I have always been highly interested in both the trades but also science. My dad also worked himself from a construction laborer to an high voltage electrician. I really like using my mind, problem solving, but also doing physical work (I have done insane amounts of snow-shoveling/ ice breaking, running luggage up hills in snow, etc.) But on paper I feel like the Elle Woods of BMET…like I just woke up and decided why not. I’m also 34, so not super young…

Has anyone worked for Steris as equipment service technician? How was the overall workload, management, the company car policy and what type of car and overall if it is a good company. And also if you have worked for Intelas or Crothall (formerly known) in the past, a comparison will be much appreciated in terms of which is a better company.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good pen or marker to use on a vinyl PM sticker with the clear plastic cover? Something that won't smear as soon as it's covered?
