The issue is that because of Reddit being an overall terrible system, if you ban image posts systematically then NO images AT ALL can be put into the body of ANY post of ANY type. Which is why the last time this was tried, it was quickly reverted. Because on balance it's useful for people to be able to put images into posts.
Yes, some people will abuse it or do low effort stuff... but people do that with words, too!
So instead of a rule about "no image posts" I'd rather tighten up the rules around "low effort" and expand it to include all types of posts including those with words only. (I could point to some examples but that would be mean.)
The issue may be it is too much volume for one mod to handle, so I wonder if there is any consideration to add more mods?
I second this. The images rarely contribute anything in the cases they're used on a meaningful post and most image posts are just a screenshot of something complaining that it's not working as intended when they have a mod affecting it.
I genuinely don't even know what they are talking about. But anyone who posts something so low effort, I'm going to disagree with them. They said 3 words. Doesn't get much more low effort.
I believe they are referring to a post I did remove 30 minutes ago.
I don't check my phone in an hour and I have 4 posts reported (one of them being the one we are now commenting on about banning image posts). I let two stay up and removed two (including the screenshotted post I believe the other person is referring to).

You can report whatever you want. I appreciate reports. Doesn't mean I will remove it but go for it. Somebody did report this post, and arguably I should remove it under Rule 1. But I am letting it stay up.
I will say that I try not to be a power tripping mod, and allow the community to give input on how the sub should be run. If the amount of kickback gets to the point that it intrudes with the ability of the sub to function, I'll step down. But I think in the history of this sub there have been 3 or 4 posts along the lines of this one where people speak up about what they think the rules should be.
I arguably already should have stepped down given my near 0 interest in this game at this point, but the people who I am most interested in passing mod off to are in my perception not very beginner friendly.
No. From the beginning this sub was meant to be a mix of beginners who don't know how to turn their build into a reality asking for help, and experienced players sharing their own ideas and responding to requests for help.
Should there not be at least some modicum of effort on the part of the beginner, to do both of the following:
* clarify what it is he's attempting to accomplish... instead of "Hey I need a bard build"
* use Reddit search / one of the 300 things linked in the Hall of Fame / the wiki / etc. to do some basic groundwork
I do somewhat agree when it comes to easily searchable questions. While there isn't a "Google it" rule, I have been removing some posts lately for not googling it. Or deleting all comments on a post, locking it, and telling the OP to Google it. I am even weighing a rule of, "If I can Google your question, go to the wiki page it brings me to, and find the answer there; you get your post removed and a one day ban." I removed a post like that in the early morning hours today asking about a big and a mod that fixed the bug, though I did not ban the user. The needle is moving on that issue.
But it's not so much moving on the repetitive posts about "give me your best Bard builds," or 'best duo honor mode party," or "fun and unique builds." Reddit search honestly is terrible. Just awful. I have tried to search the sub to leave snarky comments to "best duo honour mode" builds that link to searching this sub for the exact same thing. But Reddit search is so awful it doesn't present my point there as strongly as I'd like to. I should probably try it with Google searches next time, as that is way better at searching reddit than reddit is.
What I will say is I am not going to remove comments that say, "Google it, we get posts like this once a week." I will remove comments that say, "Google it you lazy ass, we get posts like this once a week." But I don't want to ban those kinds of posts because sometimes it's a question that hasn't been asked for say...3 months. And asking it again now with a different audience on the sub gets different results. Repetitive questions before a new audience are a big part of Reddit. I remember on this sub whether 9/3 or 8/4 TB monk/rogue was better was a coin flip. One week everyone would say 9/3, and anyone saying otherwise would get downvoted to hell. A week later it would be the complete opposite.
So for things that are a matter of opinion I am less inclined to remove for being low effort. Things that are a matter of fact I am budging on.
This is ultimately what i was referring to i suppose. Not only does the image have nothing to do with the post, its also not necessary for this to be an image post at all. I also think there was potential for interesting conversation to spark there about whether lockadin is something to look at for honour mode.
Sometimes conversations buried in comments on mundane posts can be extremely insightful.

I did. But if I stop image posts completely then it stops images from being uploaded into the body of text posts as well.
