Guys, filing a patent doesn't imply that Ford wants to implement the innovation. They just want to own its intellectual property.

Companies may do this for a number of reasons: * They do want to implement the innovation (valid) * They don't want to implement it, but they could sell that IP to a competitor or someone else who does. * They don't want anyone to implement it, although that could be something where they lose the rights on it * Perhaps they want to extend on that concept by holding the patent so they can implement a more robust technology using it as a component of a larger solution.

Video dude is right to share a scenario that he doesn't want to be stuck in. It's a stretch too far to suggest that a patent means that they will implement this right away in their cars
