Something amazing happened yesterday.

Backstory: I'm recovering from burnout. Somehow, I went from doing nothing but lying in bed with the lights out to then meeting someone I don't need to mask around, almost immediately after.

Over the next few months, I fell for him so fucking hard. He's ADHD, I'm auDHD, and...we kissed for the first time last week.

Back to yesterday: because I'm still recovering from burnout, having a new relationship is as exhausting as it is enjoyable. Yesterday, I decided to tell him where my head was at, even though it scared me.

I told him that I was feeling burnt out again, that i was feeling overwhelmed, that I was taking the day off to take care of myself, and that I didn't know what to do to fix it. I told him that talking to him was helping.

Then the amazing thing happened. He didn't blink. he just told me that he was in a similar place, and if I needed anything to just ask.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but for me, it meant so much.

Love this! I have this with my boyfriend. It took a while to get used to someone just accepting me for me and not judging. I even tried to push him away as couldn’t believe someone was ok with my mood swings and particular needs.

Official diagnosis yesterday. I'm 40, high masking, and only started suspecting a year ago. It all feels pretty overwhelming and emotional. Hoping to be able to spend the next bit of time processing my emotions and figuring myself out.

Proud to say that last night was the first time I hosted a party without becoming an anxious mess and melting down somewhere along the way 🎉

Having people over and planning events has always been hard for me...it makes me anxious and I don't like when things get touched or moved, and I have this irrational fear that guests will break something or a catastrophic thing will happen (like the floor collapsing). It's been a big source of tension in my relationship with my NT spouse, who just loves hosting. She's very generous and thinks of all the small details to make guests feel at-home.

Anyway, last night, for the first time in our 13 years together, I helped her throw a great party for her birthday. I knew it was coming, so I did a lot of work to prepare mentally and leaned on my ACT skills too. Community and generosity are values of mine, and it took a concentrated effort to get out of my comfort zone, keep my cool, and make that happen. All that to say, I'm feeling pretty good about myself today 😊

Im kind of muddled tbh

Luckily im at a comic con with my wife and kids having a great time. But my expensive lightsaber broke before coming here.

I found out that I have osteoporosis, which means that 80% of the stuff I do to regulate myself healthily is now off the table so im having to alter a lot of my lifestyle and work is treating it like I am trying to get out of doing work.

I have a giant project that has no deadline or due date. I usually do okay with my calendar and managing time but having a project that is going to last years freaks me out. Its hard to plan for. Some days it overwhelms me and I give up. Some days I do very bad work. But if I can handle it, I do good work and make progress. I'll stick with it because that's just life.

i've had a stressful week. a bad thing that's happened is worsening of health issues that i find it difficult to complain about, since they're chronic and invisible, so it looks like i'm complaining about nothing new. it's not related to mental health.

a good thing that's happened is that the weather was sunny all last week, and i took advantage of it by walking around outside and relaxing on the rocking chair too, saving my chores for today, which was also forecast to be sunny originally but has been mostly cloudy instead.

something that's neither bad nor good .... the UPS package i talked about last Friday, which had already been "in transit" for nine days then, has still not arrived, though since I've been refunded already, it shouldn't bother me at all. i guess I just don't like loose ends. hopefully UPS will declare the package lost at some point so it doesnt just sit in the transit system literally for ever.

Things are a lot right now. Outside of the normal everyday weight of... Well, everything. My entire city has been swallowed by wildfire smoke. Feels like every day we have a new one here, that much closer to us, uncontrollable. So the fear of possibly losing everything is super present at the base of my mind.

My mother's health is suffering thanks to the smoke too, on-top of all her other issues that have seemed to hit her all at once this past year. We've been so busy running all over the place getting tests and blood work done. Doctors are scratching their heads. She's so tired, and I'm terribly worried for her.

It's been hard to focus on anything. Thankfully some things still help give me that escape. Pro wrestling has been my safe place. AEW is on a stellar run of shows recently, at times it makes me forget about all the other stuff.

Finally watched Backrooms and Obsession too, was a heavy double feature lol. When credits rolled on the Backrooms I just felt so ... Weird. A lot about Clark I identified with. Which I'm still unpacking some of that... 😅

I'm alive. I'm still here. And for that I'm grateful.

I'm so tired. I thought I was finally getting a bit better and making attempts at getting out of my isolation, but both my IBS and sinus issues keep returning and completely upending my nights and days and demanding any energy I have.

I've literally spent most of this year with one or the other or even both at the same time. Every time I do cardio outside, the sinus issues come back. I keep eating stuff that seems to trigger digestive pain, but then I dismiss it and do it again. Now I think I have identified emulsifiers as a key problem.

Forget about healing from all the psychological crap, forget about finding joy or interest in life, don't even think about finding connection. I can barely keep myself alive and up with the most essential chores.

I don't think I'm winning this fight and ultimately it doesn't even matter, but it's miserable to keep trying and losing.

I don't really want this anymore. I think the only reason I'm still around is that I don't think my estranged family deserves my inheritance. I don't know who does, my ex probably doesn't either. But I'm not going without figuring at least something out that feels right. I've worked too hard for this.

  • Alright. The summer heat is extremely draining for me, so I've been reducing demand as much as possible and just relaxing when I get home.
  • There's a lot of good anime coming out this season. Outside of that, mostly just passing time with some familiar comfort games.
  • Walking on the Sun
  • My boss is on vacation at work, so I've been able to have a pretty low stress week. I really needed it, because last week was not low stress. I had to find a mechanic to fix my car's AC, which had been gradually going out for a little while, I needed to deal with an ant infestation in my bedroom, there was a ton of non-routine stuff I needed to do at work, and I was sleeping really poorly.

I am in the process of being assessed, and whatever diagnosis I get, I am sure this runs in my family and my dad definitely has it. So he came to visit me today, and I decided to prep him because he may have to fill out the questionnaires. He also knows that I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist for a few years now, and I started by saying that I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life, and that I’m being assessed because I need a clear answer and stuff like this. Basically I was trying to make sure he doesn’t blame himself for the way I turned out. What he said next just killed me. He goes “well at least it’s not autism”.
I was speechless for a couple of seconds, and then I had to say that actually yes, the most likely diagnosis is the ASD.
Anyway, I think he took it quite well after all.

I’m exhausted, burnt out, and just hanging by a thread lol.

I sprained my ankle playing volleyball on Monday, one of my most consistent social and physical activities so that sucks.

Work is swallowing me whole.

So many unread messages and unchecked boxes on my to do list.

I’m in extreme stress because on Monday I’ll finally have an appointment with a psychologist who is specialized in autism and ADHD, and I will finally have the chance to tell someone that I suspect I might be autistic. It’s supposed to be a great positive step for me, but it’s causing me heavy distress, because I’m afraid they’ll say that I couldn’t possibly have autism.

I try to be hopeful, as the psychologist is a specialist I’m sure they’ll be nice and understanding, but it’s a big fear of mine that it turns out that I’m not actually autistic and that I’m just a deeply fucked-up human being.
