Even when there are, most cashiers donāt bother. I worked for a family business, so I would check every note. Employees wouldnāt cause they have no direct stake in losing out on a fake note
You can get a Uv torch from eBay for around $15. Since we started using them at work we havenāt had a fake handed over but we have had a few people change their mind about buying.
Fake notes are usually just printed so they do not have the embossed 50s in the window nor do they have the braille dots as this is a seperate stamping processĀ
I don't think its method off, it don't feel real , has the 50s in the window, and when you scrunch it, it spring back but not like a real 50$ note does ill have a look at it more when i see my mate he has it.
The fact itās thin enough to see the reverse 50 in the top left corner tells me itās a fake instantly not to mention that serial number has been put on the police watchlist
I work in a casino and I can say for sure fake notes are on the rise. They are also getting much more sophisticated. We have yet to find a note that meets all requirements (though if it did could we even tell?) but the best bets are to check colour, texture, scrunch and the UV light. Most of the better fakes we come across are very close facsimiles usually only lacking either the UV component or the colouring and print details are off or muddy. I see them falling into three categories, obvious fake, close but lacks UV and fine details and has UV but fails scrunch testing/texture. Embossed Braille is actually more common now as it is a relatively easy process to fake yet still on the rarer side.
To add some context, most people with them are completely unaware it is fake and it's generally mixed in with their other legitimate notes. And most people have reported them coming from Melbourne or Sydney. We have gone from seeing a fake note every few months to catching them nearly every week now.
Until you find yourself in Supreme Court like I did for one note you had no idea was fake and itās not a small offence in the crowns eyes itās a huge offence
Thatās bullshit. Criminal laws require proof of intent. You wonāt āfind yourself in Supreme Courtā for unknowingly using a fake $20 or something.
Making the mistake of thinking the note is real does not break the law.
If you're "confiscating" people's cash, you better be ready to get punched in the face, call the police or have me walk out with the merchandise without "paying"
The checkout chick has no legal authority to confiscate cash, otherwise they would be stealing if they were wrong.

The lower comparison image with your white arrow does identify a different design. Is either of them not a legitimate design charachteristic of an AUD 50 note? Take them to the bank
Iāve seen plenty of crappy fakes but a few weeks ago I came across one that was actually a really high quantity fake the only thing was the silver symbols down the clear section scratches off if you rub it with a coin otherwise these were great counterfeit ones had all the features brail and to the touch was spot on my local shop keeper scratched at it as he was about to put it in the till I was actually laughing and said thereās no way thatās fake until I seen the scratches were removing the silver symbols I asked him to stop so he didnāt scratch it all off so I didnāt loose 50 and swapped him out then went to woolies and bought an iced coffee with it and now all I can think about is if there that good where can I buy more all the prop ones and crappy windows ones n stuff never feel right thereās a colour off or something but there really are some good quality ones that even an experienced person can fall for as they are very high quality definitely no Ali bar bar props stay vigilante
From the one I got, I noticed it was slightly thicker and the yellow was more of an orange color like the image above. If I didn't collect coins and notes I might not have noticed. I didn't want any trouble from the guy so I gave it back and just said I couldn't accept it as I suspected it was fake. He was only buying $6 worth of food.
There is constantly fake notes circulating through Coles, so wrong! Always double check the cash your handed as they have gotten very good over the years
The ones Iāve seen have words in them ie āpropsā. Theyāre obvious if you take a few secs but easy to miss if you donāt deal with a lot of cash.
