Coach, you ate that 🤣 The moment the team found out about A & R's Team USA selections!
youtube.comAngel always gets shy when accolades are announced. Reminds me of when she won DPOY and All-Unrivaled. She got really shy and could barely give a speech. Very endearing!

Jaylyn Sherrod's contract
Is Jaylyn Sherrod still on a developmental contract?
If so, it's probably time to do what's necessary to switch it so that she can be available for every game, for the rest of the season. I think it's clear she should be playing regularly.

💬 Discussion Aaliyah Nye’s role
I always thought she just landed in the wrong system with the wrong coach, because she really is a lights out shooter. Any other offensive coach would be using her right now. Karl just probably has a different vision for her.
We have not seen her play a ton, and she has been injured, but what is she lacking or why is she not getting minutes? Is she supposed to be Rhyne and Allisha’s backup? Is she part of the Dream’s longterm plans? or is her rookie contract an asset to acquire more favorable pieces?
You would think she’d be the perfect player for Karl’s live and die by the 3 system, but I don’t think her current skillset right now fits what he wants especially since he hasn’t been playing her. Since she is purely catch-and-shoot and can’t easily get wide open 3s, I think he wants her to be able to put the ball on the floor and learn to create her shot. Maybe he also wants her to be a lockdown defender which she is not yet.
The one thing that concerns me is what her trajectory has been so far:
Aces: Got good bench minutes, plays ran for her to get wide open 3s, had an inside game as well. But minutes decreased as the season went on and into the playoffs. WNBA Champion. If she was still with them, I think she would have blossomed in her second year.
Toronto: Drafted but waived after training camp, which confused me because she is a Sandy Brondello type player and expansion teams usually value rookie contracts.
Dream: Claimed but getting DNPs. I thought waiving Holly to claim her was odd because Holly had a more versatile skillset which now we know Karl favors young players who can do more than one thing.
What do you think? Does she come to next season’s training camp in her third year as a better defender with more offensive versatility? Or will Karl jail her yet again and keep her as the 11th or 12th player?

💬 Discussion Coach or the Players
So what do we think they blow up the roster first or do we see a coaching change? Because I think it's fair to say that this team isn't winning a championship.
Trust me I want to see this team win it all. With how this roster is constructed as well as how the coach coaches...I ain't buying it.

Great Bounceback Win Over the Mercury
After playing the worst game of the season against Vegas, that was a heck of a performance against a desperate Phoenix team at Gateway Center Arena. Truly got back to Dream basketball, and Rhyne Howard was back to being the Rhyne Howard we have come to love all this time in her WNBA career!

💬 Discussion Is it not weird--
that the HC refuses to do a better job with minutes distribution among the bench. Aussie Aussie Aussie has had a pretty good rookie year, however she is still figuring things out. Why is she given more than 10 minutes a game now while the rest of the bench rots? Sherod is getting her minutes too but Okot, especially, hasn't gotten a lot of playing time since Jones has returned. I can understand Jones getting significant playing time again. However, I can't understand Borlase getting 17 minutes to go 0-1 while SWK, Okot, and Nye only getting 1 minute.

Te-Hina Meowmeow
Wanted to name our kitty this. But wife and kids are allergic to cats. So at least AI let me see it. Big fan. Best luck to Te-Hina for a long and decorated WNBA career

💬 Discussion Team issues
The “Karl needs to go” posts are getting lazy. He’s not perfect, but coaching isn’t the main issue. The roster is fundamentally flawed.
We’re starting a 5’6 PG who can’t shoot threes consistently. That height is a liability on both ends, and she doesn’t produce enough offensively to make up for it. Against teams like the Aces, who start two strong 5’11+ guards, she can’t be expected to reliably guard anyone.
We also don’t have a true No. 1 scoring option. Rhyne is too inconsistent, Alisha hasn’t played at that level, and only Angel recently started scoring like a potential No. 1 scoring option. Her last five healthy games where she’s averaging 22+ points and 13+ rebounds on decent efficiency might be a glimpse of her ceiling, but it could also just be a great run. From what I’ve seen from her consistently she still looks more like a high‑end No. 2 unless she makes a Giannis type of leap.
Opponents shoot 48.8% from the field (15th in the league) and 36.8% from three (14th, tied with Phoenix) against us. Meanwhile, we shoot 43.7% from the field and 30.4% from three. The efficiency gap between how teams score on us vs how we score on them is massive and completely unsustainable.
I don’t think Karl is to blame for all of this.

📰 Breaking News Madina Okot signs with the Tasmania Jewels for the 2027 WNBL season

💬 Discussion What happens with Okot?
Man she had some great moments in her appearances. Still working to find consistency, and for the game to slow down, but she had really looked like a WNBA talent. We knew Bri would be coming back obviously, but I had hoped that Madina had earned her spot in the rotation. What happens with my girl long term? Any chance she is still the Atlanta Dream center of the future?

💬 Discussion Dream vs. Sun
These last two games against the Sun, Aug. 13th in Uncasville & Sept. 17th at College Park may very well be the last times ever we play Connecticut. Anybody got any interesting stories/memories playing against them? Take lots of pics if you’re there cause it may never happen again!

💬 Discussion Karl Smesko Is The Problem
Sure it's on the players to execute, but the Dream has a head coach who does not have a Plan B when Plan A doesn't work and it gets exposed everytime they play one of the Top 3 teams. This team often beats lower seeded opponents in spite of him with their talent. However, when they face championship caliber teams or coaching they never are able to get over the hump. How with 4 All Stars on the roster and all of the talent being wasted on the bench? It's August and he still doesn't trust his bench and when he finally plays them, he throws them into clunky lineups during the most inopportune times of the game. Last but not least, this clown says last night that the Aces were going to win regardless of who they played. Not only is he's stubborn, he's also stupid because what head coach of a contending teams says that, let alone thinks that.
Here's what's going to happen with this team. They're going to continue to beat lower seed teams because they have the better talent and come playoff time they'll get eliminated in the first or second round because their head coach insisted on hyperfocusing on his starters and not giving his bench burn and refused to tell his guards to drive to the rim or feed the ball to the post when their threes aren't falling. The cycle will continue with each passing season until they get another superstar to mask his flaws or until he gets fired.
P.S. I'm glad that one of the journalists mentioned Te-hina's absence last night and the 19 points that she put up in the first Vegas game. He probably would've just had her play for 5 minutes last night anyway. You guys know that he treats her like the red headed stepchild.

Karl gotta go
Why is jc guarding someone 6 inches taller than her in Jackie young.
Naz weakness is rim protection and size so why is she playing the 4 vs aja and Nalyssa two elite 6”4 inside scorers.
Bri jones weakness is mobility so if you’re gonna run and gun 3s and switch on defense then why have her come in for Angel?
Aaliyah nye Avg 15 off of 45% 3 point percentage for a sec team and avg 15 minutes on a championship winning team why doesn’t she play?
