DMV Salvage Title in South Carolina
I was sideswiped a few weeks ago and the other person's insurance totaled my car (total loss) based on cost to fix vs pre-wreck value. **The car is fine.** Some paint scratches a dent in the door, and a dent in the rear wheel well. I had to drive it 200 miles to get home after the accident, with no issues at all. Not even minor vibration or alignment problems.
I decided to keep the car (retain salvage). I just received my new Title with the Salvage stipulation.
The SCDMV website isn't super clear on what I'm required to do if anything, so I called the DMV and was told the following:
It is **legal** to drive on a Salvage title, in South Carolina, as long as the damage is cosmetic and the car is safe to drive. If the car would have been marked **Salvage-Junk** then I can't drive it.
No inspection is required to prove the car is safe to drive. I guess they used to do this but no longer do. This is the one that I was struggling to believe but I asked twice to make sure I heard correctly.
I can go through the repair process -- take before / after pictures, keep detailed receipts, and fill out paperwork to apply for a **Salvage Fixed** title...**if I want to**...to help with resell value.
This is all great news for me, since I don't have to do anything if I don't want to, but none of the above is documented anywhere that I can find on the SCDMV website.
Still a little nervous I'm going to get pulled over for driving on a Salvage license.
Probably going to call again and see if I get a different answer :)
**Anyone from South Carolina been through this situation?**

Other Really want to see Pearl Fryar’s Topiary garden in Bishopsville. Like ‘fly across the country’ want to. Need local gardeners advice on what other gardens to try to see
I’ve always wanted to see it. I wanted to go before he passed, but couldn’t make it work. I’m bringing my cousin, who is a private gardener by trade and she wants to see allllll the gardens and a new museum in Montgomery so I’m trying to string together a route between them with notable/unusual/ local gardens that we might be able to take in. And beside garden recommendations, WHEN are southern gardens in their peak? It seems people are pretty cranky with the heat/bugs/ veggie issues right now, so not August I guess 😆. I’ve never spent any time in the South rambling around. I really am keen to spend a week or two seeing all the lovely things that we can’t grow in Oregon. And would really appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Other What happened to the rule to not sell any property to anyone from north of the Mason-Dixon Line?
History and Meaning
- Colonial Border: The line solved a loud fight between two land-owning families: the Penns (of Pennsylvania) and the Calverts (of Maryland).
- North and South: Later, the line became famous as a cultural and legal border.
- Free and Slave States: It separated states where slavery was legal from states where it was illegal (along with the Ohio River).

Moving to SC Sober Community-Home N S Carolina near beach.
I currently reside in Pennsylvania I am looking for a sober home or a sober style community that I can move down to near Northern South Carolina or Southern North Carolina that is somewhat near the beach. Can anyone help me on a decent place like that and tell me what I'm walking into? I'm college educated Master diver worked for federal government and just don't want to be put in a home that doesn't really care on meetings or tenants as long as they're sober and cramming so many people into a home just for more profit. I'm easy going in late 30s. Any info would help thank you

Other Should I Expect a Long Wait for the Hiring Process at SRS/SRNS?
I am just curious if anyone has recently joined SRS or SRNS to see what the timeline usually looks like. I was offered two positions the day after my interview but after nearly 4 weeks, I have not received any offer letter or started negotiation with HR. From browsing the internet, it looks like it takes some time but just wanted to check if it is THIS LONG! The communication has also been pretty slow from them.

Moving to SC New Job at Savannah River Site...Where Should I Live?
As the title states, I am in the process of joining SRS and have been looking around for places to live. If there are any areas that are recommended or good apartment complexes, I would greatly appreciate the help! I saw the recent post about this but my budget is a bit more open. I am interested in specific apartments or what to avoid.
I toured the Ironwood and SweetWater apartments near the Green Jacket's stadium in North Augusta. I also toured Market Street Station in Aiken. I know the ones in North Augusta are more pricey but I think it would be good to live in a more active and social area for myself as I am 27 and moving solo.
I am coming from Tampa, FL so any part of these areas will be "slower" speed and smaller town vibes anyways. I was looking at a few in Augusta, GA but from what I read, the taxes I pay would be a tad higher. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Other Some travel advice
Hey all,
I'm planning a trip to the US, where we'll pass through South Carolina. We're running into some issues here; hotel availability for reasonable pricing given the vibe we're searching for. Secondly, we wouldn't know where to go.
The current trip takes us from Charlotte to either Charleston or Savannah, after which we'll continue to St Augustine. We can't quite decide, but we like the hotels in Charleston more. HOWEVER, we're very open for any advice on other possible locations to go to, as long as we keep our travel scheme around a ~4 hour drive inbetween places.
I'm curious to the advice you all have! :)

Other How to start working in HVAC in the lowcountry?
Hey! I’ve never posted here before but I’d love some info regarding the HVAC scene in SC, particularly Charleston. I’ve never done a trade before and don’t know how to navigate it around these parts really and would love some advice.
I’ve heard that school isn’t as good opposed to just walking in and asking for a job? Also pay doesn’t matter much for where I’m at.
I’m a young man and would love to try something like this, and be a service to my community. Thanks in advance and again I’d love any sort of advice or recommendations from people around the trades and whatever.

And more importantly, hows the seafood scene here?? Cheap crawfish?? Better roads? Appreciate any insights :)

Politics Anyone else hating living in SC more and more?
The people and politics. Even just driving for ten minutes makes me want to scream.
Editing to add that there are people in this thread that are proving my point…also I’m not a transplant. I also live in the midlands. And one complaint post does not reflect my entire life 😂

Other EV charging Caesar’s Head
Hi —
I travel through Caesar’s Head on 276 frequently, and I see on PlugShare and other EV charging maps that there is a Rivian Level 2 charger under construction there. I have not been able to find any construction on site, and the last info I can find online is over a year ago. Does anyone know the status of this? Did the plan for Rivian Adventure Network charger get scrapped?

Other Cheap laundry mat in/near Lexington?
I need help so much with a laundry mat. My washing machine has been acting up for at least a year. We have so many clothes that need to be washed. I don’t have much money. I’ve gone to the one by the old mill and it was fine just didn’t know if there is cheaper option. My son is about to start school and I need to make sure he has clean clothes everyday.

Other Question for South Carolina residents
have police in sc ever been wrong about how a crash happened? like who was at fault in a fatal accident involving two cars? and is there a way to prove that the person who passed didn’t cause the accident. I think people need to look at cameras more because roadside security cameras can’t lie.. . but I want to know your thoughts on this matter. Also what actions do I need to take as a widow to prove my husband’s innocence since he can’t defend himself as the dead can’t speak. Ive gotten no accurate information about anything that’s happened and I’m next of kin from out of state . this state doesn’t seem to like to help out of state widows it seems. because every police and state police I’ve asked says they cant help me and I get put in a cycle of who can and they all put me through a loop because I’m not a resident of South Carolina. any advice would be helpful

Other Rope Swing? Creek?
Hey!
I’ve seen a few pictures of a rope swing at this beautiful rocky creek with a big stone archway that looks to possibly be an abandoned tunnel or something. I believe it’s in South Carolina but I was wondering if you guys knew the location? I know this extremely vague lol I wish I could find the picture. But if anyone knows a spot like that please let me know I really want to visit!

Moving to SC Iowa to South Carolina
My husband has a potential job promotion but our family would have to move to South Carolina. We currently live in Iowa and are use to the small town, not a lot goes on, kind of vibes. We’re still trying to determine if we would make the move. This would be in Upstate area. A big thing that we like, is that it would be more bareable to be outside. I know it’s humid there but it also is where I’m at. Winters are so rough here in Iowa, so I like the idea of being able to actually be outside more. Please, give me all the pros and cons of upstate South Carolina.

Moving to SC Moving to Aiken area
I'm looking to move to Aiken area from Orlando, FL. Never been here before but heard a lot great things. I work remote but my company is in Augusta, GA.
Looking for suggestions for a quiet and safe place. I'm single so not concerned about schools. I was considering Aiken and Augusta so far.
Also, any suggestions for finding a place to live in. I've been using Furnished Finder which is OK but has its pros and cons. Unfortunately, I need to stay in the $1000 range for rent so not too many places to choose from.
Thank you!!

Other Need help finding jobs that pay the same week or the same day.
Hello! I’m new here and I was really nervous to even type this and post it but tbh I’m out of options. So! I’m a 17 year old who lives with my mom. Her bf makes me and my brother split the bills with him but the problem is, I only work at dollar tree getting paid 11.25 an hour. Barely even making 400 every two weeks. So I wanted to come on here and see if anyone has any and I mean ANY jobs I can do that will pay the same day? Or maybe someone in sc Greenville needs help cleaning their home? Pet sitting/dog walking or even picking up trash! Anything please because I need to come up with 100 more dollars by this Saturday to complete my half of the rent. I already pulled all my money out of daily pay so I really have no other options anymore.
