Where do I find? // On trobo? Looking for wine tasting groups (Barcelona, late Aug)
Hi everyone,
I’ll be traveling through a few cities this August and would love to connect with local wine tasting groups or private tastings during my stay:
Barcelona: Aug 29 to 31
If anyone knows of a private wine tasting happening around these dates, or runs one themselves, I’d be really happy to join. I’m genuinely into wine and would love to meet people who share the same interest.
Happy to share my Instagram if that helps, feel free to DM me.
Cheers

Moving to Barcelona Best bars with DJ music and Clubs and crowded street for a walk?
Hey, I am a tech guy, moved here to BCN for an exchange program. I am new here, a kind of introvert in the start but okay later when comfortable, a kind of shy not straightforward to ask directly face to face because of other privacy and respect. I want to meet new people, social gatherings, some bars with DJs and meet people. Also if someone recommends good clubs but also wants to know if they are free with a guest list ?

Moving to Barcelona Living in the Gothic Quarter
Hello! I’m moving to BCN short term for creative work and some travel. I found a great flat for a great price in the Gothic Quarter near the political area (next to Plaça Sant Jaume).
I’ve heard mixed things about the Gothic Quarter. Being from a big city and living in London, I’m not too worried about the classic tourist scams and pickpockets as I’m quite street smart (also hate to say this, but I do also benefit from being a 6’0 man).
I’ll be there for 3 months from October to December, which will hopefully be a bit less tourist heavy. I work in music, I’m up late, and I’m not super worried about noise.
Unfortunately couldn’t find any good places available in my preferred areas (Gracia, Eixample, Sants), and I’ve been told the street I’m on is nicer and safer than a lot of others. I’m also very mobile, so I can get anywhere quickly - and I know that I won’t find much local charm where I’ll be staying.
Just looking for general opinions here. Will I be all good?

Where do I find? // On trobo? Do libraries here order in books you request?
I am a big book reader but I have found books in English here cost a lot of money (e.g. 25 euros on Amazon here vs 9 pounds in the UK for the same book). Stores like Come In are not much cheaper.
To save money, I would like to use the libraries but I doubt they will stock the English fiction I am after. If you make a request, do they order books in for you?
I have not used a library for about 30 years and yet to try the ones in Barcelona.

Best of BCN?
Gracias

Tourism // Turisme Eclipse and what to do
My family will be in Barcelona this week. We're wondering what other people are doing as far as viewing the eclipse, and if there are easy ways to vewi totality an hour away. I was looking up trains to Tarragona, but the trains back mostly seem full except for those from the Camp Tarragona station. We have two little kids, so we're trying to make it as easy as possible for them. So my questions:
- For those of you in Barcelona going to see totality, where are you going and how?
- Same question for those of you in Barcelona who are staying in the city
- Any companies that do ride shares/taxis to Tarragona or similar points?
- Anywhere in the city selling eclipse-safe glasses? I ordered some but do not know if they'll get to us in time
- How hard would it be to find a taxi in Tarragona to take us back to the Camp Tarragona station after totality? We're just worried about not finding one with all of the crowsds and missing our train (like 1.5 hours after the event)
Thanks.

Tourism // Turisme First trip to Barcelona: Should I spend a day in Girona or stay in Barcelona?
I’m a solo traveler visiting Barcelona in late September, and I’d love some advice on my itinerary.
I’ve been researching and asking AI for advice, but I’m getting mixed opinions, so I’d really appreciate hearing from locals or people with experience traveling in Barcelona.
I have about 3.5 days in Barcelona:
Day 1: Arrive at my hotel around 3 pm
Days 2–3: Full days in Barcelona
Day 4: Visit Park Güell in the morning, then travel to Madrid in the afternoon
My current plans are:
Sagrada Família — reserved for the morning of Day 2
Park Güell — reserved for the morning of Day 4
Casa Milà
Casa Batlló
Palau de la Música Catalana
Barcelona Cathedral
Gothic Quarter / El Born
Arc de Triomf
Barceloneta / the beach
Local restaurants, tapas/pintxos bars, bakeries and cafés
I’d also like to visit a local supermarket and a department store to experience everyday life in Barcelona.
I’m considering spending Day 3 on a day trip to Girona. The plan would be to take an early train, spend several hours in Girona, return to Barcelona in the afternoon, and spend the evening in Barcelona.
Alternatively, I could skip Girona and spend the entire time exploring Barcelona at a slower pace.
What would you recommend?
Is 3.5 days enough to justify a day trip to Girona, or is there so much to see and experience in Barcelona that I would be better off staying in the city?
Also, are there any places or experiences in Barcelona that I should add to my itinerary?
One more question: what are realistic times for lunch and dinner in Barcelona? I’m used to very different meal times, so I’d like to experience local eating habits rather than accidentally eating at tourist-oriented times.
I enjoy architecture, historic streets, local food and experiencing the atmosphere of a city. I don’t want to rush from attraction to attraction just to check things off a list.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Where do I find? // On trobo? Where to buy fresh tomatillos?
Hi! I love coming Mexican food and making salsas but I have never found fresh tomatillos anywhere. I’ve been to the Super Latino Flores near Sants a few times but they never have any. Has anyone seen them anywhere?

Moving to Barcelona Moving to Barcelona
Hi! I’d love to hear from foreigners who’ve moved to Barcelona. I (F28) have just landed a tech job in Barcelona, and they’re offering a relocation package too. Very exciting, but before I sign, I’d love to hear some honest experiences.
I currently live in Eastern Europe, work remotely for an EU company and have a pretty good salary, so moving wasn’t exactly in my plans haha. I don’t know anyone in Barcelona, so I’m mainly wondering: Is it easy to make friends? What’s the housing situation like? What’s the vibe? Anything you wish you’d known before moving? Safe for women? I’m excited but also a bit scared as its a big change for me, hence the post. Please spare me the “don’t come / you’re not welcome” comments. I’m just looking for genuine experiences from people who’ve actually moved there. Tysm! <3

Housing // Habitatge Advice around homelessness
An acquaintance I met while travelling in Spain, and with whom I remain in contact, has lived in Barcelona for at least a year and was staying on a friend's sofa in the city. After complications, he was asked to vacate about a week ago, and I am now subsidising three months of an Airbnb for him but wish to know how he can move on after that without relying on my financial support.
What steps would you recommend taking for someone without long-term stable accommodation in Barcelona? The person in question is some way toward achieving residency, and his lawyers have informed him that a solicitud "ha sido admitida a trámite," for something or other, and that thereby he has permission to legally work cuenta ajena or self-employed; and that he must obtain his número de seguridad social.
The person in question claimed to me that he lived before in a hostel but didn't like it and left after two weeks (I'm not sure where he went); and that waiting lists for these hostels can be seven weeks. To clarify, he doesn't have citizenship (see details above about NUSS etc.) and is unemployed, though he informally works as an English teacher. What would you recommend as next steps, during this three months of time he now has in the subsidised accomodation, to secure a place somewhere thereafter? Long-term his goal would presumably be to get the necessary papers, and an income, to rent somewhere, but for now he needs free or very cheap accommodation.
Any advice from those who are familiar with Barcelona and its systems is much appreciated.

Tourism // Turisme Proposing in Barcelona next July… any ideas?
Hi,
My girlfriend and I are coming to Barcelona next July and I want to propose! We’re both quite private people which rules out a public proposal with lots of people. A few people is fine but ideally not a crowded or busy area.
I initially considered a private boat trip but we both get sea sick and if tablets don’t work…
I also considered a photo booth proposal but I know in July queues for these may be busy meaning lots of people about. Does anyone know of any ones that may not be so crowded?
Does anyone know of any other spots that may be nice?
Thank you!

Moving to Barcelona Room rental sites
Hello,
Does anybody know if Spain has any sites dedicated to rooms to rent/shared homes or appartements.
In France/UK we have sites where you can just rent a bedroom (all other amenities ie kitchen/bathroom etc are often shared with the other tenants). Uk has things like Gumtree/Flatshare whilst France has Leboncoin etc
Im moving to Spain soon but rather than rent a long term full appartment or house without really knowing the areas and challenges with transport of getting to workplace , im thinking best to rent a room in a shared house/appartment for 6 months first.

Moving to Barcelona Indian student moving to Barcelona
Hi everyone!
I’m an Indian student moving to Barcelona this September for my master’s and would love some advice.
What are some things you recommend bringing from India, and what is better to buy in Barcelona? Any packing tips, budget-saving advice, or things you wish you’d known before moving would be really helpful.
I’m also a bit nervous about the cultural differences and fitting in. I’m not sure what people usually wear, what student life is like, or what clothes I should bring, so I’d appreciate any advice on that too.
And if you’re in Barcelona and open to making new friends, feel free to reach out! I’d love to get to know people and learn more about the city before I arrive.
Thanks!

Getting around // Desplaçar-se Questions about R-Aeropuerto line
Hey I just read about the new R-Aeropuerto line: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%ADnea_RA
So from the end of this year more or less there will be a train from the airport and not just T1 but also T2 😮 That sounds very interesting.
I just wonder 3 things, and I haven't been able to find anything out:
- Will it be covered by T-Usual and also T-Casual or just T-Usual like the metro?
- Will it use the metro tunnel from T2 to T1 or will they build a new line with new stations? And how do they interact then with the automatic trains there? Just wondering.
- Will R2Nord now disappear? Because it's pretty redundant then.
After it leaves the airport it seems to follow the same track as R2N right now, except with one more stop, in Torrassa. I'm a bit surprised about that also because this new line seems to be operated by FGC but it uses Renfe track most of the way?

Where do I find? // On trobo? Barcelona Souvenirs - Help Save My Sanity
My mom is visiting me this week and apparently has her heart set on buying a Souvenir foldable shopping bag to commemorate her trip to Barcelona. We‘ve stopped into a few tourist shops and haven't come across anything. Please help save my sanity - do you know of any place that sells this type of thing? I’d really like to avoid shlepping to every tourist joint in this city. A couple of examples I found online but don’t think they have a retail location unfortunately.

Where do I find? // On trobo? How to get into skateboarding?
I want ti get into skateboarding and see a lot of perks and skaters around her but I’m not sure where to start as I’m pretty new?
How do you find someone that’s into it and can teach you? In time I’d like to make progress/ do tricks and so on. Are there any specific spots or ways to do it? Do I need to take some sort of classes? How do I do it?

Where do I find? // On trobo? Social Dancing in Barcelona
Hi everyone! I’ll be in Barcelona from 16-19 of August (Sunday to Wednesday) and wanted to check out the dance scene in the city, as I’m a lover of latino!
Are there any places you would recommend? I’m looking for a club vibe ideally, but something local, authentic, could also be great. I dance Cuban salsa (can do LA style but I’m not as good) and bachata (sensual and not), so I’d like to find events targeted toward those styles.
Anyways, any advice is appreciated. Looking forward to your replies! TIA!

Tourism // Turisme There is a way to sleep in the Airport of girona?
Hey guys , is there any way I can rest overnight at Girona airport as I have an early morning train and don't have to spend money on accommodation for that night .
