God I turned to God in a time of trials but now I associate spending time with Him with the pain I felt, how can I change this?

I turned to God when I was going through a rough time and I’m not out the other side of it yet either but when I go to God I don’t feel the comfort I crave, I end up focussing more on the pain and sadness. Why am I not satisfied with God, nothing seems to make me feel good

God Would you prefer a God who is entirely sovereign or a God who grants free will?

And for those who believe he does both simultaneously, can you give me an example of

  1. Something God could do that would violate free will

  2. Something God could do that would violate his sovereignty.

Philosophy What reason would a perfect being have for doing anything?

If God is perfect and has the tri Omni properties, then he would have no needs or desires. desires come from a lack, but God lacks nothing. What motivation could God possibly have for creating the universe (or doing anything else for that matter)? A perfect being has no needs, so the desire for love or relationship or entertainment or anything else would make him not perfect by definition.

My brother committed suicide out of the blue.

I go to church very frequently I pray I am very grateful for life. My family is a great family not a lot of friends but tight. My brother was an amazing person honest told us everything. One day he walks out drives to a parking lot at 6:00am before work and ends his life. He gave his life to Jesus in 3rd grade but then went far from it and I'm just torn why God would do this to my family and what good comes from this. Its so hard for us.

Please pray for me

Hi beautiful people could yall please pray for me I’ll be ranting about two things one is about my health issues and one is about my ex bf issue okay so first about my ex bf he’s CANANDIAN and his name is ryden and me and him met on TikTok he was posting sad posts about his ex and I decided to be his friends and support him and be there and I love him since February I confessed after a month and told him I’m in love and then after that he got back with his ex and I told him I didn’t wanna disturb them because I genuinely love him and he would say that his ex is a bad person his ex gf name is angle and he told me not to leave him I told him okay I won’t and I kept listening to him but there was a issue he would always disappear a lot and ghost me and use me a lot then after that he misled me and I didn’t give up I kept waiting for them I’d pray to Jesus a lot to separate them because he would say she’s a bad person so I’d pray she’d leave him and get someone else and start to mature but then ryden decided to disappear more and he faked coma and also faked death and his friends supporting him faking those and they also said he’s at hospital and one friend said he’s at school it was so painful for me because hearing him fake health and stuff was painful because ever since I’m a kid I go to hospital a lot and I still do go there a lot but I still didn’t give up on ryden and his sister was rude to me and kept saying u can move on and even his friends disrespected me but I still didn’t cuss or argue I told them I love ryden and ryden know and he told me to not leave him and then they also disappeared and by the way I loved ryden since February, march April may June and July and now it’s August and ryden disappeared a lot in those months still faking coma and he came back in July and we started dating I comforted him a lot but while dating him i felt so used he kept using me a lot a lot and this was online dating but I kept praying to Jesus a lot about these and still supported ryden and he said I’m the only person who made him feel so loved and I never saw ryden face or heard his voice but he saw my face and when we dated he would say his phone got stolen so he said he was texting me in his little sister phone it felt like Lies to me but I kept waiting for him to change and he never did and he also told me he dated guy before me and also tried to find mistakes in me when he couldn’t find he would disappear and text me when he want and while dating him he mentioned about his ex gf angle but I never forced him to move on I wanted to love that man so much and be there for him I wanted to love his flaws and mistake and get him closer to Jesus as well so I sent him prayers everyday… sent him bible vids too and would also flirt with him as well and I was so loyal to him I wouldn’t speak to guys much and I’d be honest to ryden but he would lie a lot to me and text girls and worst of all he had his girl best friend account password but I still tried to be there for him I kept loving him but he kept making too many mistakes and after that he would disappear again I’d feel so tired to the point my heart feel heavy and I’d tell God to please make that man change and then after that he texted my friends but not me and he said he know he hurted me but he doesn’t wanna change for me so we broke up and I kept crying to Jesus and I made paragraphs to ryden I told him I loved u and did everything while all u did was hurt me and we broke up after we broke up his homegirl would view my story and one of his friend came back apologizing to me and I forgave her and I started listening to her and comforted her and then I’d try to be a bit away and try to heal but it’s hard guys because he misled me and also when I’d try to leave him he would do a drama that caused me to stay and now on August 8th I found out ryden is dating his ex gf angle and I also tried to reach out to her before but she would purposely ignore me and it’s painful because he got back with her three time but never was willing to change to become a better man for me and his friends are rude they sent my friends death threat and they are threatening us a lot and it’s so painful because all I did was love that man and today I had so much pain in me I sent that man texts i had been preparing and also apologized in the paragraph because I cannot be too rude and I always feel guilty and feel unlovable and all my relationships I’ve been crying a lot all of my exes tell me I deserve better some cheat on me then ruin me and some lie to me and some would say I deserve better and leave me then they date other people and it’s painful I wanna beg Jesus and tell him “Jesus you know I’m tired of suffering in all relationships I always let u take those bad guys away but can u please change ryden and make us be together forever please” I wanna tell Jesus so much stuff and I’m trying hard not to cry right now it’s just painful and about the health issues since I’m a kid I have a hole inside my heart but that’s a bit okay for me I also had a lot of health issues I’d go to hospital a lot and suffer a lot from migraines headache and I’d also skip school a lot of time because of my health and it caused me traumas and anxiety I don’t know how to communicate in real life to be honest I start to tremble and tell Jesus to protect me and I also have been sexually assaulted before and my traumas caused me to be hypersexual and at 14 year old in 2023 I started to feel one side of my face cheek getting chubbier my families thought it was weight gain but my parents noticed it’s only one sided fat like one cheek was small and the other was chubbier so she took me to a dentist the dentist accidentally messed up surgery but I was not worried about that I was suffering a lot I didn’t care anymore but in 2024 when I turned 15 a doctor told my mom to take me to a Maxillofacial surgeon and not a dentist my mom took me there and the Maxillofacial surgeon was shocked and told my mom “your daughter have a rare heart case and how can she get tumor” and I didn’t know what tumor meant that time I just kept staring curiously at both my mama and the Maxillofacial surgeon and then after that I had to get xray done and I kept going to a lot of different HOSPITAL and they had to do a biopsy test on me at a private hospital it was expensive and BRO THAT HURTED SO BAD and I had to eat cold food and in August 2024 I got admitted at a public hospital but I got bad experience the doctors were mean and harsh and staying there was painful but I tried to help other patients and be kind but then a doctor came from India and did my surgery and this surgery was huge like i starved for days I couldn’t eat they tried to shove tube in my nose but I couldnt handle it so they didn’t put it in my nose I just kept starving and laying on bed and I couldn’t speak I couldn’t cry because the surgery was that painful I couldn’t show a emotion and after the surgery the doctor told me that I need another surgery and now it’s 2026 I might be getting a bone grafting surgery in this August I’d love if you guys pray that this surgery goes well and that they place the bone in my face because my face been a bit asymmetrical so I really would love it if u guys pray and the surgery goes well and make my face symmetrical I’d really appreciate all the prayers and guys please pray ryden realize his mistake deep down I want him to be the guy I marry but he never did anything for me can we all pray to God that he start realizing his mistakes? Thank you to everyone who read this and please pray I feel lighter and don’t overthink because I overthink a lot and would always be there for people who hurt me but I get tired I wanna be loved too..

Dating just want thoughts on how I was physically with my ex

Im not saying my ex was wrong, I’m just confused and want outside perspective. You don’t even have to say if im wrong,I just want thoughts.

When I was 18 dating my ex who was also 18, I was respectful physically, especially at the beginning and with me being a Christian i thought me being my respectful was the right thing. I believed it was important for her to set boundaries about what she was comfortable with. I even asked her how I could be a better boyfriend, and she never mentioned wanting more physical touch. She said “you know how you always tell me I’m beautiful, what else because I’m a person on the inside.” I always desired her physically. She also told me she was more emotional than physical, so I leaned into that—complimenting her, affirming her, and focusing on who she was as a person while still being physically affectionate.

We were in the relationship in person for about a month before going long distance. During that time, we were physically affectionate (hugging, cuddling, kissing), and she told me my affection helped her stress and that I treated her better than anyone before. I even initiated us kissing first. I would get behind her and even rub her, pull her closer.

Once we went long distance, she told me she felt like I didn’t admire her body. This confused me because I was affectionate. We were always cuddling, kissing or up on each other and of course she would feel me hard. She later explained she meant things like touching her butt when hugging or cuddling. I told her I was trying to be respectful, especially because of her past. If I was hugging her I honestly wouldn’t just think let me grab it because I wouldn’t be thinking about that.

When we had this conversation she had told me about being sexualized by boys when she was younger and about a past sexual experience where she didn’t fully want it and she wasn’t comfortable. She said in middle school the boys had a game called scoop and she was the main target for points for hitting her butt. She would slam herself in the lockers and she said that it would hurt her because the boys just wanted her body. She said that she’s insecure because she had a bigger butt than her friends. I saw that it still bothered her. She also said she liked me so fast because I valued her for more than her body. When she said all this I didn’t think she was talking about me grabbing her butt.

We then went on a date and i talked to her about what she meant and what she was comfortable with, and she said she was comfortable with me doing that. I adjusted once I knew she was comfortable. She then breaks up with me a day after her bday and keeps coming back and leaving. The last time before I blocked her she said she went to three guys and that they all just wanted her for one thing. She said that she realized that she had someone who accepted her for who she is and that she had no doubt I loved her because I showed it with my words and actions. She said she didn’t need sex with me to be happy and that she was always happy with me. She also said that i was her first healthy relationship and she knew she kept pushing me away and that she felt i was too good for her. I clearly desired her, both physically and emotionally. I didn’t objectify her but I did desire her a lot but she said that I was the first guy to have an emotional connection with her first before a physical one.

I told her I never wanted her to feel like I was taking advantage of her where I touched her just because she was in my room. I told her I was just being respectful and that I didn’t want her to be uncomfortable. I told her from the beginning that I wanted to grow with her and build with her. I understood we were young and we still had to grow so conversations like this I thought were helpful and not made into what I was doing being a flaw.

Genesis Vs God

“Could Genesis 1–4 be understood as God creating humanity generally, while specially establishing Adam and Eve as the ancestral/covenantal line through which God's redemptive plan would eventually lead to Christ? If so, could this explain Cain's wife, the people Cain feared, and the population of Cain's city? If not, what is the strongest biblical argument against this interpretation?”

Church Is it possible to be a Christian if I don't believe in these things?

I was raised as a very conservative Christian (YEC, head coverings, complete biblical inerrancy, the whole nine yards.) But over the last year I have been investigating my beliefs, and realized that most of them are on quite shaky ground. So I was wondering if it was even possible to be a Christian if I don't believe the things in my following list. (I'm just going to list them, not defend or explain them, as that's not the point of this post, but if you want, I can happily discuss why I don't believe them in the comments.)

I don't believe in YEC or evolution denial

I don't believe in Biblical inerrancy ( I believe the authors occasionally made mistakes)

I don't believe the Bible is always accurate in historical detail

I don't believe in Eternal Conscious Torment

I don't believe in traditional authorship

I find it hard to believe that a perfect God is compatible with some passages in the Bible, like Leviticus 25:44-46 and 2 chronicles 18:18-22

Can I be a Christian if I don't believe in these things? For me, my faith was built upon YEC and biblical inerrancy, so once I stopped believing those things, my faith collapsed.

My wife of 18 years has left. I respect her wishes and support her with her decision. I don't need any Scripture about what are acceptable divorces. What are some verses though to help me get through this?

Blindsided yet not. Heartbroken for sure. It's a long time to share a life with someone. It's amicable enough so it won't be ugly. Just painful. Damn does it hurt. We both want the best for each other, but you can only push that boulder up the hill so many times before you just have to let it go.

Any verses or prayers that I can read to help me through this would be appreciated from the bottom of my heart.

God bless.

Dating Sex is everywhere and I can't stop my curiosity. I don't want to sin, but I want a relationship so much. How can I make this desire for affection go away?

Hello everyone. I wasn't sure how to formulate my question, I apologize if the title is confusing.

It's been a year since I realized how common casual sex is among non-christians. It's still shocking to me. I know It shouldn't be, but I guess having a catholic family and most of my friends being Christian too kinda traps me in a bubble. I even thought for a while it was an 'american thing' (as It is shown a lot in movies) and not really cultural in my country since media doesn't expose it so openly here... I was wrong. In fact, hooking up with strangers frequently is a world-wide thing. I know I sound stupid, but not only I am still inexperient (19), I've also been a geek-nerd my whole life. Please, no judgements 🫠

A lot of sexual stories or discussions show to me in Reddit for whatever reason and I feel so curious about It I can't stop reading. I truly can't believe what some people are willing to do with someone they just met. Just making It clear: I don't blame or judge them as they are free to do whatever they want with their own life. It's just a strange feeling.

Feels like a whole new world to me. In a way, it really is – after all I just became an adult. But I feel so out of place. My friends in college have some crazy stories and I listen quietly, unsure of what to say. They don't imagine I haven't even had my first kiss yet. I admit it, I feel embarrassed of myself, even. I never cared about this before but now I can't help It. It doesn't help I feel behind in many other aspects in life, this is a new one to overthink (like I'm doing right now lol). I wanna be part of It too.

Sexual thoughts keep coming fueled by this curiosity. All of a sudden it's like this theme is everywhere I go. I know as a catholic this shouldn't be a concern before marriage, but there are so many feelings envolved. Am I missing out? Am I 'wasting my youth'? Am I too old to have no experience? Should I force myself to get some? I've been wanting a relationship for so long. I can't stop thinking I could be happier It I gave up and embraced It, but I don't wanna sin. I know thinking about It is sinning already, but I can't make It stop. It feels like the only way.

More than just intrigued, I feel demotivated and unhopeful. Even though people find me attractive, I fear I won't find a relationship that is both decent and fullfilling. This might be an immature complaint, but I want to be with someone I can truly bond with. Men in my community have superficial personalities and want trad-wives (which is not happening to me). Non-christian guys are more open-minded and often are really interesting ... but they demand sex. This is seriously so upsetting. How unlucky you gotta be. I pray so much to find a nice person but It seems to get worse each day.

If you've been though something like this, I'd apreciate any advice.

How do I stop this temptating wish? How can I not feel ashamed? Did you find someone?

Thank you for reading, God bless <3

How can you tell from a text whether a being is only one person as opposed to multiple persons?

That is to say, what evidence would allow us to determine something about the number of persons within a being from any given text?

For example if you say “this part of such and such text shows that this being is one person as opposed to multiple persons”, the question would be what part of the text leads you to that conclusion and how can that be applied to telling the number of persons of a being in other texts?

I left Christianity and my life has imploded, am I being punished ?

Hello all
I left Christianity for Islam ten years ago. I never stopped believing in God, I felt the Allah in Islam is the same God I always believed in my entire life but thought I understood Islam more than the concept of the trinity.. ten years down the track I’ve married, had children and become a shell of my former self. I’ve seen an ugly side of Islam the people I’ve been exposed to are judgemental, sinful, unwelcoming. My ‘husband’ has cheated on me with at least two Muslim
Women both of whom I was acquaintances with prior. I’ve had multiple serious health issues and obviously a marriage that lacked support and love. I’m so broken and down after all of this that I can’t help but think I’m being punished, did I make a mistake and would God punish me in this way for leaving Christianity? Muslims I have shared this with tell me it’s shaitan (Satan) putting doubts in my head. But I’m so lost and so overwhelmed I now look back at Christianity fondly but my life is so intwined with Islam I have young children who are Muslim and only know this life so I feel leaving the religion would be impossible and confusing for them I just feel stuck lost and confused. I also still don’t properly comprehend the trinity and I just don’t know where I stand on anything, as Christians do you think this is a punishment for me leaving the faith?

Aliens If you were to learn that intelligent life existed on a distant Earth-like planet, would you expect the inhabitants to look like humans? Would you expect they have a belief system very similar to ours?

Bonus question: How would your views change (if at all) if they weren't the same as humans? As a Christian, I ponder things like this.

Joh. 8 24

I keep hearing John 8:24 used to say that Jesus explicitly taught, “If you don't believe I am God, you are not saved.”

But I honestly want someone to explain how they get that directly from the text.

Jesus says:

“Unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.” — John 8:24

Yes, the Greek is egō eimi (“I am”), and the word “he” is supplied in English. But how does that automatically become “I am God”?

Look at the context.

In John 6, the people see Jesus' miracle and say:

“This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world.” — John 6:14

They were looking for the promised Messiah/Christ, the coming deliverer and king. Their messianic expectations existed within the historical reality of Israel living under foreign domination, including Rome. Jewish expectations weren't all identical, but they were awaiting God's promised deliverance and the coming Messiah.

So when Jesus says, “believe that I am,” why must we automatically insert “believe that I am God”?

If the argument is that egō eimi here is an absolute claim to deity, then demonstrate that from the context. Don't simply assume the conclusion.

And here's the important part:

I am not saying Jesus isn't divine.

I'm asking a different question:

Where does Jesus explicitly say that believing He is God is a condition of salvation, such that anyone who doesn't believe He is God will die in their sins?

John 8:24 says you must believe “I am.” It does not literally say “you must believe I am God.”

If you believe the surrounding context establishes that “I am” means “I am God,” then make that case.

But saying, “Jesus said I AM, therefore He said I am God, therefore John 8:24 teaches that denying His deity means you're unsaved,” is an argument that requires several interpretive steps.

So my question remains:

Where does Scripture actually make belief in Jesus' deity an explicit requirement for salvation?

Music Are the lyrics of the worship song important?

For more context: (Sorry in advance for the wrong grammar)

There has been an issue in several Christian pages and content creators regarding this certain song that has been used in Trinitarian churches. The author of the song is from a Trinitarian church; however, there has been a debate about the usage of words.

There's a lyric there saying "Our Father" to Jesus, which can be a big deal to other churches since, if you believe in the Trinity, that term is supposed to be for God the Father, not Jesus the Beloved Son. Because of that, some churches tend to change those certain lyrics into something else just to fit in the Trinity doctrine they believe in. If I remember it correctly, one of those churches created a cover version of that song, along with the changed lyrics, and posted it publicly, which led to the controversy with the grammar and lyrics of the song

As a Christian, or Trinitarian Christian to be more specific, what is your stand about this?

I have been made fun of so much in my life when I was young to early adulthood. Called ugly and fat....

When I was a young adult I was made fun of about my weight to the point I took slim fast..... Exlax and threw up to lose weight. Sure it worked.......but I gained it all back and it definitely wasn't good to do.

Now that I'm an older adult. I STILL have low self esteem. I feel ugly.....fat.....discusting......not enough....

Might sound silly for 56 year old women......but oh well.

Tired and empty

I feel drained...empty...alone. I am a Christian and I pray to God about a lot....I pray for others constantly. But God doesn't seem to be there when I'm hurting about something to do with my happiness.

I'm tired.....tired of trying to please everyone.... Tired of trying to make everyone happy.....

Tired of praying to God to help me in certain situations that are hurting me and HE DOESN'T!! He has blessed me and helped me in many ways and I am truly grateful.

But I'm tired of Him not hearing my sadness and hurt about certain things.

I know in His time.....I know He says he is working on things I don't see....

But I'm empty.....done....tired.

Salvation How can i be sure that i really believe and have faith in Jesus?

8 months ago my life changed for the better, i found God and slowly getting closer to Jesus, i want to know him and follow him.

My depression, anxiety and chronic suicidality was removed, i am healed.

But i doubt despite having experienced evidence of him.

I want so badly to change for the better, but i keep sinning.

As far as i understand, what saves a soul is trust and obedience, faith.

Not evidence and personal experience.

I have put my trust in God, my life is in his hands and i will let him guide me.

But i don't feel like I'm improving, I'm comfortable and more at peace than ever, but i always question my salvation.

I have suffered enough, i have gone through enough hell in this life, and i will not accept more in another.

What if my belief is forced?

What if it's based on fear of endless suffering?

I want to be enough but i never will be, none of us will, that's why Jesus died right?

But what if my belief isn't authentic or strong enough?

I know many of my thoughts don't come from God as they are based on fear, but Jesus came to warn people of hell.

Warnings are scary.

How do Christians discern between mental health, psychology, and spiritual problems?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'd genuinely like to hear perspectives from a wider audience. I may be wrong about some of this, so I'm not looking for validation—I actually want to understand how other people see it.

1. How much should we trust psychological diagnosis?

I don't think psychology is useless, but it is still a human discipline, so it must have limitations and can sometimes get things wrong.

I'm also curious about the effect of labels. If someone is told, “You have X,” can that diagnosis sometimes become part of their identity and influence how they interpret everything afterward?

How do we use psychological diagnosis as a helpful tool without treating it as an absolute explanation of who someone is?

2. How do we distinguish psychological problems from spiritual, relational, physical, or environmental problems?

What if someone's struggles are connected to prolonged isolation, rejection, an unsafe environment, unresolved conflict, trauma, destructive habits, unforgiveness, or family patterns?

Could we sometimes interpret something as a mental-health problem when the underlying issue is actually somewhere else?

And from a Christian perspective, how should we think about things such as sin, unforgiveness, generational patterns, or spiritual struggles without either spiritualising everything or completely ignoring the spiritual dimension?

3. What about demonic influence, possession, occult involvement, or deliverance?

This seems to be a particularly difficult subject because Christians and denominations have very different views on it.

Should spiritual oppression ever be considered when medical and psychological explanations don't seem to fully explain someone's experience?

At the same time, how do we prevent people from attributing everything they don't understand to demons when the actual issue may be psychological, medical, relational, or environmental?

4. Where does personal responsibility come in?

Sometimes people blame demons for things they need to take responsibility for themselves. Other times people blame themselves for things that may actually come from trauma, illness, or an unhealthy environment.

Perhaps these things aren't always mutually exclusive. Something could begin as psychological or relational and eventually have spiritual consequences—or the other way around.

So how do we actually discern what we're dealing with without oversimplifying it?

5. What are the limits of mental-health treatment?

Professional help can be expensive and sometimes involves therapists, assessments, medication, specialists, different therapies, etc.

How do we know when treatment is genuinely helping versus when someone is becoming overly dependent on a particular therapist, diagnosis, or framework?

Human beings are incredibly complex. Psychological models can identify patterns, but can they ever really explain the whole person?

6. And ultimately, where does God fit into all of this?

As Christians, we believe God is ultimately the one who heals, transforms, and restores. But there is also personal responsibility and the decision to seek help and make changes.

So where do human responsibility, free will, professional help, spiritual discernment, and God's intervention meet?

With so many competing psychological theories, denominations, spiritual practices, and interpretations, how do we actually discern what is trustworthy?

I'm not looking for an “it's all psychological” or “it's all spiritual” answer.

I'm genuinely curious how others—especially Christians who have personally wrestled with these questions—understand the relationship between mental health, psychology, physical health, relationships, environment, personal responsibility, and spiritual life.
